1972 - on the same day as the Immaculate Reception, Roger Staubach hits Ron Sellers with a TD pass with :22 left in the game to lead the Cowboys back from a 28-13 deficit to beat the 49ers. Captain Comeback was born.

Does anyone remember the game{ I think I still have it on VHS somewhere} It was against the Eagles I want to say around 91{?} when Emmitt ran wild on the Eagles on a wet field. Over 200 yards rushing and we let the Eagles know there was a new sheriff in town.

wasn't this the game where emmitts name was ripped half way of his jersey by the end. And Big E dominated reggie white - john madden kept zeroing in on that battle and showing white huffing and puffing after ever play, it was definitely the signal of a chnaging of the guard for the NFC east.

Reggie White was on the Packers that season.

I was at that Cowboys/Eagles game. His last TD run covered the spread.

must be a different year that i am talking about.

The game i am thinking about was the first time in years that the egales had let anyone rush for over 100 yards against them.

Here's an unsung Cowboys moment that never gets mentioned.
.....................

Kelvin Martin returned a punt 85 yards for one touchdown and Steve Beuerlein passed to Michael Irvin for another Sunday as the Cowboys rallied to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 25-13, to reach the playoffs for the first time in six years.

That was the game in Dallas in 1992. Emmitt Smith ran for 163 yards in that one. Jim McMahon was quarterbacking for the Eagles that day. Andre Waters missed the game with a broken leg he suffered against the Commanders earlier in October. When the playoffs came around, Waters was in the lineup, and said that he was going to take Smith's knees out.

Smith ran for 114 yards and a touchdown. 34-10 Dallas.

I also remember my sister's birthday fell on that Sunday. We had a cake decorated like a football field complete with goalposts and players. At halftime I went and turned the players wearing red & blue upside down, burying them up to their shoulders in the cake.;)

It depends on how old you were as to how funny that story becomes. I'm guessing you were young then, but I'm picturing a grown man doing that which makes it really funny.

Pasadena Super Bowl against Buffalo. The Ken Norton stuffs RB Kenneth Davis at the goal line. IMO that was the defensive turning point in the game that started the onslaught. Awesome tackle!!

That play was hugeeeeeee

That was Super Bowl XXVI against the Commanders. Thomas initially blamed Kenneth Davis for hiding it.

Yes, we addressed that in another post. I was remembering it because in the Cowboys Super Bowl the announcers droned on about it. I guess they had to kill some time in a blowout.

Funny thing is Gramatica attempted to nudge him but the defender got by him quickly and he had virtually no time to react. Watch the replay everything happened so quickly I don't even believe Gramatica realized Romo was running with the ball.

Yeah lol. I was so blown away about the whole sequence. It is funny to think that if Nick Folk was back there or at least David Buehler , history on Romo could of been written completely different.

I remember this game vividly, but I wasn't able to watch it. I had a really big huge important project due on the next day and I hadn't started on it yet and I don't think my mom found out until the day before the game about it (I was 10 years old at the time). So I had to go to the public library to do the research and what not on Sunday but the library was only open from 12-5 I think and the Dallas game 1-4. So I took my Walkman with me and listened to the game while I took notes from the books. My mom came back to pick me up when it was early in the 4th quarter and I listened to the 4th quarter game clinching plays in the car on the ride home. First time in my football watching life that my team clinched a playoff berth!

Gramatica did everything correct on the play as soon as he saw the bobbled snap like a savvy veteran kicker he attempted to make a block which is more than I can say for Anthony Fasano who was looking directly at Babineaux right before the snap and was suppose to be blocking on that play. Fasano was in perfect position to make a block but he froze as the ball was snapped then did an ole move allowing Babineaux who hesitated to have a free run at the ball. Had Fansano made any attempt to block Babineaux Romo would have scored on that play.

Well there was also a game I wanna say around 91{?} or so, Kelvin Martin returned a punt for a TD with Issac Holt delivering a huge devastating block. It was against the Eagles as well. I really like Issac Holt he played with swagger and was a gambler, I think it was against the Bucs he had 2 picks returned for TDs.
