Just a thought:

In our limited exposure to Jason Campbell as a NFL Starting QB, I have observed that he is only effective or accurate in throwing the deep ball, and tends to struggle in the intermediate game. His shorter throws and checkdowns have been all over the place last year as well as last week vs. The Dolphins.

With that in mind, Rex Grossman seems to be the same animal to a degree. For me, Grossman seems to be most effective wh it lets it fly deep to Berrian or Muhammed. I feel like this week will be all about the deep ball once the D-Line and LBs stop Benson and Peterson.

Since Dallas will see Washington twice, I felt like this coming week will give us as fans a look into how we will play the skins on D with a QB like Grossman.

Thoughts Zoners?

If they come out throwing lots of deep balls, then that means longer drops. Longer drops SHOULD mean more pressure.

If that's the case, no excuses for the pass rushers this week. If they come out doing 5 and 7 step drops, we need to get some hits on Grossman.

I can't imagine they're going to actually come out throwing deep balls. Even though our secondary isn't up to snuff yet, they still have a horrible time in pass protection. Their RB's are awful at picking up the blitz , we should not play off Muhammed because he doesn't have the speed to beat any of our guys deep. I foresee lots of inside blitzes this week.

With their physical o line I would be shocked if they didn't come out and try to run it right where Jason Ferguson used to be.

Jason Campbell is another Quincy Carter, same strengths and weaknesses and he won't ever be much more than a wild card, someone who may lead the Commanders to 9 or 10 wins at best in his career.

They gripe about Romo out of sheer insecurity either that or they are daft about the game.

I totally agree, but my point goes to an assumption that Dallas' Defense will be able to contain their running game. Then Grossman will let fly.
Watch tonight's Eagles' Skins' game. Portis and Betts might be stopped to a degree and Campbell will instantly look deep first disregarding progression.

Grossman does the same stuff.

he is better than quincy that is a silly statement.

His arm is much stronger and he has more talent around him, he should succeed.

he does look deep to much and miss to many throws though.

I don't think it is too far off. While JC may have a bit more of a strong arm than QC, they are remarkably similar. They both look best when throwing deep. JC has a bit more zip on the ball and stands taller in the pocket. But QC had better blitz awareness and has a much better touch. QC also seems more fluid in the pocket.

I don't JC well enough to know if he as abjectly stupid or as much of a headcase as QC. But from on the field performance, I think they are a very good comparison. And I think they will have similar defining characteristics: just enough sheer talent to tease you into thinking greatness is around the corner, but so dang inconsistent that you will never be able to rely on them. I can see the Skins investing years into the failed experiment, always teased by what could be if JC could just develop consistency and touch.

I don't think he is any better than Carter, if he is supposed to win with such "marvelous' talent around him then why doesn't he?

He is another Quincy Carter and if he is a smidge better he could've fooled me.

I dont see that at all personally.

he seems more like a kerry collins type to me. Always looking deep, seemingly limited mobility, shaky pocket presence.....

they both are very big guys, extremely strong arms and very accurate seemingly the deeper the throw.

He is young and I think he is going to be pretty good.

I'm not impressed with Grossman.

If we can score some points on the Bears D...we should win.

I hope you're right, it seems that the Cardinal tapes and the Super Bowl need to be taken out and dusted off from last year.

I've watched Jason Campbell in several games, and he scares me. Keep in mind he's only started a handful of games, and his rawness still shows, but he throws a very accurate long ball, and can also thread passes into tight coverage because of his arm strength. I can see him developing into a good QB, which would be bad for us. Of course, that organization is run so badly he'll probably have to learn 3 different offensive schemes in his first 5 years, and will likely end up confused as hell.

I see the intangibles against Campbell, I'm not trying to hate him just because of the ugly color combination on his uniform.

I thought Ramsey would've been ok but Gibbs drafted him then punted him, I foresee Gibbs stepping down in disgrace after next season if not before and Snyder cleaning house yet again, this time he'll get all giddy over some hot free agent, let's call him Eli Manning for arguments sake and he'll bet the barn on that.

Meanwhile Campbell may go elsewhere and succeed like Doug Williams did after leaving Tampa Bay, ironically this time he'll be leaving Washington instead of arriving.

I never thought this thread would turn into Manning to Skins in 2010. That is a stretch,

Yeah and not only that.... after the first game of the season... Miami got a little too cute... thinking they could just throw at will on us... it led to us making plays on defense... I hope EVERY team thinks they can throw on us... we can only get better.... the deep pass is not a high percentage play when it comes to the playbook... ket Grossman try it... he will fail more than succeed.
