This will be a signature game for Demarcus Ware, good or bad

I'm about up to here with Demarcus Ware.

A week after he set the Cowboys career sack record, he gets stoned by backup and third-string offensive tackles against San Diego. Until he jumped offsides on a key third-down late in the game, I never heard his name.

I watched King Dunlap do the same thing to him last year, and this was before he got hurt. Dunlap is a journeyman on par with Alex Barron.

Far too many times, Ware just completely disappears. He'll nab two sacks in the opening drive of a game, then go unnoticed for the next three quarters. After the first play of the Giants game when he intercepted Eli Manning, he then proceeded to record ZERO tackles and no sacks the rest of the game. That's hard to do as a defensive end.

The Cowboys have a good chance against Denver if Ware plays like an elite player.
Sunday will be a perfect example of great players showing up in big games. This is a big game for Dallas, which can either take a stranglehold on the division the next three games, or fall to the abyss.

Romo has to match Peyton, which he's done before. But Ware has to lead a defense that needs a compass from their supposed best player. There has to be pressure on Peyton, and it's got to be spearheaded by Ware.

It'll take at least two stops and two field goals to give Romo the chance to outscore the Broncos. It's not asking much for Ware to kill a drive or two on his own.

That is, if he's as good as superstars are supposed to be.

The ignorance on this board truly amazes me sometimes.

This is NOT a make or break game or some career defining game for Ware. Not kind of or sort of. All these "absolute" threads need to stop.

Seriously. It's a little ridiculous.

And all of these claims that Ware only racks of the sacks at the beginning of games, against inferior opponents, or in blowouts is COMPLETE nonsense. Awhile back someone on here compiled the numbers and the facts ABSOLUTELY SQUASH that garbage. If I felt like it was worth my time I'd search for that post and link it, but the people that spew this rubbish around here more than likely aren't going to change their minds anyway.

What I've noticed is Ware gets double teamed a lot &held. Maybe all this fuss about Mo & Carter blowing coverage might have something to do with it? Maybe he's hurt IDK? All of a sudden! All these secondary's not playing well, I wonder how JPP, Jared.A, Aldon S, Orakapo, & JJ watt are doing? answer: same as Ware but healthy! I wonder if their fans are poptarts to?

That's not even remotely true. I really hope this is a troll post because I don't feel like looking up the stats for you.

I actually think its a fairly common held belief around here by quite a few folks. Yes he's a great pass rusher but yes he rarely makes plays in the clutch times of big games, ESP when going against poor OT competition. It's one of the reasons I thought we should've traded him for multiple picks last offseason or two. Instead we have two DEs hogging a tenth of the roster salary or more. JJ has to start parting with players sooner and getting something in return instead of overpaying and getting diminishing returns. Ratliff, spencer, miles, ....how much salary do they occupy currently and what are we getting in return? The only position you can't overpay or have too much of is qb.

Our fans have absolutely no loyalty. It's pretty disgusting. We have a guy who is the fastest player in the history of the NFL to 100 sacks, and since 2006 has not had less than 10 sacks in a season.

Oh but those guys just fall off trees.

Hahahahahaha

Wow.

No wonder the players here never really speak highly of the fans here.

They must judge us by bozo's like the op.

Great player but these nagging injuries are a concern.

They really need him. To me he's the heart of our defense.

I think Adam was the one who posted the numbers.

Actually - he hasn't really played in any truly big games. Sadly.

He actually has. All the games that Romo loses are big games! The wins aren't big.

And that sack of Brees when they were undefeated to win the game wasn't a big game. There was nothing on the line. They were supposed to win that one.

(Shotgun) D.Brees sacked at DAL 48 for -6 yards (D.Ware). FUMBLES (D.Ware) [D.Ware], RECOVERED by DAL-J.Ratliff at DAL 48. J.Ratliff to DAL 48 for no gain (J.Evans).

I really wonder if some fans even watch the team play.

Every game is equally important.

Well... not really. The more we lose, the more important the next game becomes.

And the more we win, the less important the next game becomes.

Technically speaking.

That said, I don't expect more than 8-8 from this team. I won't have high expectations from this team till Jerry Jones is ancient history (problem is I'll probably have alzheimers by then and won't know the difference between a football and a Toyota).

Although I disagree with your premise that Ware disappears in big games or at key moments, I will agree that Ware needs to step up. Unfortunately, I don't think he is the dominant player he was a few years ago and is just a very good player at this point in his career. Other guys are going to have to step up with him.

Thank you.

Every single week....this is it, guys! It's now or never!
I'm not sure I can take 14 more weeks of it. lol

Well, technically you're correct, but you get my gist.

Holy moly. Just when you thought you've read it all.

Holy moly, what? I never said I thought it would be his last season. I said I wouldn't be SHOCKED and it was based on his nagging injuries. RIF and maybe don't cut out the context of the quote next time.

None of the other top pass rushers like Jared Allen, Peppers or Suggs get held as much or as blatantly as Ware does. This is done because the teams know they are allowed to get away with it.

And then there are all the times he is called for offsides when the replay clearly shows he was not.

Probably not deliberate but over the years it is clear that the officials are not pushed to make calls on those that hold and TACKLE Ware every game.

Instead of talking about glory holes and everything else, this is where Jerruh should step up. Take it right to goodell and if no satisfaction is given then go public with game tapes showing all this.

A lot of dogpiling here, which is all fine and dandy.

Babe Laufenberg agrees with me. So does Daryl Johnston, Brian Broaddus, Stretch Smith, Nate Newton, and a host of other media and former players around Dallas.

It's not that Ware isn't really good. He's is. It's that he's not dominant in big moments.

Charles Haley was the opposite. You'd barely notice him until it really mattered, and then he'd take over the game.

To me it does seem like he disappears at times. But I think it's just me being a fan, wanting a big play in a big situation. I'd like to see how many sacks he has on 3rd downs and in the fourth quarter of games, compared to other players.
