Thoughts about the 2 trades today!

Interested to see how Whitecotton uses all these 3Ts. Keep in mind Osa and Solomon were DEs in college, and I think both can set an edge on the strong side. Defenses that have shut down Dallas run game have had 3 Stout guys along the DL and one normal DE. Where is Winfrey going to get snaps?
Could see us going that way. Play a DT (Odighizuwa/Thomas) at one end on early downs to help the run DT.

I think they overpaid for Williams a little bit, but I won't complain (too much) about acquiring top end players.

Wilson I'm not very optimistic on and wouldnt be surprised if he is a cap casualty after this year. Talking with a Bengals fan they said something kinda interesting that Logan Wilson really started to change his game for the worst after the hip drop tackles were made illegal. I've not watched much Wilson film to back up the claim, but I guess he was a frequent offender of using the drop style tackles.

Upgrades for sure.

But also they will fill a critical gap -- leadership.

Parsons was great, but he isn't a leader -- he's a stone-cold mercenary (very competent for edges that aren't Maxx Crosby).

I think people are really underselling the importance of Lawrence and Lewis as leaders on this defense for many years.

I think a stud 3-tech is worth more than a pass-rusher, and we paid less for Williams (a 2027 1st, 2026 2nd and Mazi Smith) than Green Bay did for Parsons (a 2026 1st, a 2027 1st and Kenny Clark).

Yeah, we know. Until they trade for Cooper Rush, this team is going nowhere.
Since you said it, yes; as long as Dak is the quarterback the Cowboys are not going anywhere.
Rush was/is better than Dak, yes, but because of his physical limitations I am not saying that he is the guy.
However, the Cowboys do need to find a leader like Rush was/is at quarterback.

lol.. seriously??

Been dancing for joy all day over the trades........and we STILL have an extra 1st rounder. Keep an eye Safety and/or CB with the top picks.
Yes we need a strong rusher opposite ezekarkau. Preferably tall. We need a good linebacker to assume overshown is just bonus. We need a good corner to stabilize the position and allow bland to never guard Marvin Harrison. And obviously one safety who can help the corners deep.

I have to admit... am still VERY bummed after last night's game

but the potential of Williams & Clark at DT is a little exciting. We just need the DEs to step up now.

Hoping Wilson can come in be the MLB Dallas has lacked this season.

still though, playoffs will be a tough get

Both will be here at least next season, so we'll see what happens.

-These 2 trades could be a vote of confidence in Eberflus and his scheme. Many believe Williams fits that Seattle up the field 4-3 DT. Wilson is an experience true MLB who knows his fits in a zone scheme. Wilson may have lost a step, but he does possess strong instincts and size for the position. Lack of instincts has been an issue for both Murray and James.

-It will be interesting how they employ these three DT's. We might see Osa more as a pass rusher and Clark playing more against the run. Keep in mind, Eberflus scheme basically play two 3T's and doesn't use a traditional 1T. A rotation of these three plus Thomas is very good and deep. We could also see some lineups with all three on the field at the same time. Clark/Osa could play some end in a pinch.

-I truly believe these 2 moves aren't just for this season, but are for the next few years. Both players have two more years left on their contracts, this runs with the timeline of three 1st rd picks forthcoming in the next two seasons.

-Our front 7 improved in a big way, but the defense still has a lot of holes that need to be addressed: edge rusher, linebacker, corner, safety. A lot will depend upon how Overshown/Revel look the rest of the season.

-We should be all happy, these trades are like free agent signings which we never do. One is elite, other one isn't a bottom of the barrel type of player by any means. This might tells us, they are indeed using those cap funds created in the Parsons trade, where they may even sign a big fa next offseason. They could still go out and sign a Hendrickson as a fa.

-I see many think we overpaid for Williams, they paid market value for a top 5 DT, which he certainly is. These type of players rarely become available as these interior rushers are very hard to find. Pretty sure if Simmons was available, it would of been a similar price tag and he wants a new contract.
On the money. We'll said.

I saw that posted on their fan forum using almost the exact wording. Personally, I found it to be a nonsensical comment. And nobody followed up with support.

A professional linebacker has lost his game because he couldn’t use a hip drop anymore and was unable to adjust, while everyone else in the NFL seems to have adjusted just fine.

Hoping for a difference maker at LB and a FS in the first round. And if O returns to normal the defense will begin to at least look average to above average.

The OL will have to get their crap together with who they got.

Bro please stop. There is no vote of confidence in Eberwuss's scheme. His scheme sucks.

Anything that keeps Toia off the field makes us a better defense. He might eventually be a contributor, but for right now, he's showing that he's a rookie seventh-round pick.

Wish we could have gotten Fitzpatrick, too, but I never realistically expected us to trade for Williams. This defensive scheme is predicated on having a stud at 3-tech and now we have one. We can mix and match with Williams, Clark, Odighizuwa and Thomas.
I was pushing for Fitzpatrick too, but he has a big contract and we just added Williams and Wilson

It is a nice consolation prize after losing Micah. Games are won in the trenches and Q is one of the best, especially stopping the run. I love the trade as long as Dallas surrounds him with capable players, not from the trash heap.

If the GM doesn’t seriously work on the defense in the offseason, then nothing changes and it was a waste of two draft picks. Time will tell how this turns out.
Our front 7 is starting to take shape, adding that edge is the next important piece as well as adding another future starting linebacker.

Winfrey also can play some end. I do like that big front with 3dt’s, where we are seeing this more often. Fixing the front 7 is the most important, then adding a solid secondary behind them. Really would like a good veteran safety in the offseason to solidify the backend

I believe edge is our top need, followed by safety. Then it’s about adding quality depth at linebacker and corner
