Thoughts about the Giants

Fully expect a heavy does of run by NY, Cowboys will have to sure up the middle and I think we see a bit more man with strong safety playing closer to the line. Kearse has been doing outstanding job when asked to bring run support.

We may get Watkins back this week. That will help that middle and run defense.

well, when you start out 0-3 with two last second losses, you don’t see a whole lot of clapping on the sidelines. But I did notice the cameras showed him sitting next to Jones immediately after Jones hit Barkley for the 56 yard TD and Jones ran in the two point conversion. You could see how happy Garrett was- knowing that he called both of those plays. And I have to admit, they both were fantastic. Sending Saquon wide and using Engram to freeze the corner allowed for Saquon to run right past the frozen CB pretty much by himself. Gotta give JG some love for that.

And then the plays called in OT shocked many of us. He actually allowed for Jones to attack downfield right from the get go. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. I was wondering if that guy sitting next to Jones on the bench wasn’t Jason’s twin brother.

I am concerned with Barkley in the passing game. Dallas defense still leaves too many wide open receivers. What they haven't done was give up the big play too often. Other than against TB when Brown was beat for a TD. All were pretty much in check that I remember. There may have been a few long plays in there somewhere.

But they still allow teams to march down the field at times, giving up a lot of yards.
Then they tighten up though. They are giving up 12 points less per game then 1 year ago, so far. That has been the difference, and take aways.

What is the buzz up there, from fans and the media, will they stay away from Diggs. As we know the team won't say one way or the other.

FWIW Garrett has a history of breaking from the old ways when the fans, media and losses pile up. He will change things up for a game or two and as a fan you have hope that maybe he has changed. But then he falls back to the conservative timing based offense. So I say this with unwanted experience, do not get your hopes up.

Your words did not make me smile…in fact, just the opposite. Sigh! My hope is that maybe JG is evolving and changing his stripes. In other words, i hope he is not the same man he was in Dallas because he’s learning to grow and to adapt. I hope….

they have no offensive line. game over.

Not so fast, amigo. Washington’s highly rated front only got one sack and New Orleans’ highly rated defense didn’t get any.

Now I admit, they have not been able to sustain a running game but I think most of that is because Saquon Barkley has been coming back from a brutal injury and had no preseason. You could see how tentative he has been hitting the holes….but, there has been improvement each week. Barring injury, he should almost be at 100% by game 8. So, I think the OL, despite losing several players (Gates, Lemieux, Bredeson) have been holding their own.

I don’t really know how strong your defensive front is but do you believe your front is better than WFT?

Garrett will have Jones doing more hard counts.......yet he never utilized that here. Disgusting coach man

Giants should run the ball ,they will have 3rd and short every time if they do.

We cannot ever, under no circumstances, not take a divisional rival seriously.

We are fooling ourselves if we think we can just steam roll this team without having everyone stay locked in and focused.

It's on the coaches and the leaders in that locker room to have our guys ready.

We can't ever not take ANY team seriously. Does anybody really think the Steelers are better than the Bills? Or the Saints better than the Packers?

The Giants can beat us. They aren't supposed to, but they'll suit up 48 professional players, each of which have been winning tons of games since they started playing football in Pop Warner. Any given Sunday and all that.....

I get to see the majority of Giants games being from NYC, have a good handle of their strengths and weaknesses:

-Giants biggest offensive weapon is Daniel Jones legs. Majority of their big plays come from him running, not passing the football.

-Barkley is slowly coming back from knee surgery, last week was by far his best game of the season

-Their TE has elite speed, but struggles badly with drops, especially in crucial times.

-Have a lot of talent at WR, but have some injuries and still trying to get on the same page.

-OL is still a big issue for them, but not their former #4 pick Thomas, having a strong season.

-Defense has played a lot of soft zone coverage.

-Run defense not as strong without Tomlinson and now Martinez. DE's are real power players.

-Struggle generating any pressure, outside of their rookie Ojulari.

-Outside corners are good.

-Kicker is real good, had a very long streak broken last week with conversions.

-Judge has been real conservative this season.
Thanks !

I dont think the Giants arw a terrible team. I just think they arent strong enough anywhere to be good. They seem like a team likely to win 5 or 6 games, but with a few bounces could have won 8. Not getting those bounces is probably better for them in the long run, because they impact players to turn games. They really dont have that anywhere.

Their WR core is 4 deep with good players. Koney had a nice game yesterday. However right now there isnt a guy you absolutely must take away. Getting Barkley rolling probably helps.

Like you said, OL is a big issue for them, but Thomas is a major really for them to be optimistic. Most likely he moves to LT next year, however they may add Neal, Green or Penning depending on where they pick. Even taking one of those guys Thomas may still be their LT, especially if its Green.

Toney is being used like Lucky Whitehead, end arounds, receiver screens, etc.

We’ve got the 2nd easiest schedule in the NFL and a sweep of the East is essential. Yes, division games are nuts but these are some really historically bad teams in it this year.

We’ve had enough excuses for a quarter century and short of a blizzard or the plague, this teams needs to show up and show out.......and that’s because Michael Irvin says so

Being local as you are, I can verify that you are 100% accurate on all.

Think I'm the only guy around here who wanted Ojulari. Not happy he went there....in the second round. They stole him.

Division games for me are a toss up. Throw out records and logic. Dallas SHOULD blow them out, but probably won't.

This is way past sour grapes stage, but IMO Garrett is holding that team and Jones back. He can stay as long as they will have him as far as I'm concerned.

If I remember correctly, Ojulari was flagged with an injury, which made him fall. Good prospect especially that late.

Any divisional game isn't a trap, it's very important!
sometimes natural let down happens after you get up four straight game to beat highs end talent and then next on your schedule is one win team at home. This is why a trap game was coined. We al know how all games go, especially division games but it does happen..coming out bit flat or uninspired can happen..

hope it doesn't..

The only thoughts about the Giants are their fans. They're getting chirpy, in a way that's even worse than Eagles fans. I don't know if these Cowboys are mature enough to not let early season success go to their head, but I really need them to lay a beat down. A beaten down Daniel Jones would be nice, but what I really need is Giants fans smashing their TVs and hyperventilating on YouTube.

I feel this game will be huge for Dak, same game last season he went down.

Ha. Yeah.

Same as Parsons lacked maturity and football instincts.

Dallas was never looking at him anyway. They were 100% fixated on CB after missing Surtain and Horn.

possibly but i believe 4 games in 2- b2b games at home that emotion is leveling off , rearview mirror..after some of those runs Sunday, i believe its 100% stored away now..

hey if that inspiring great we could use it..hopefully NY says something dumb in the media to fire us up..:):flagwave:

we must be prepping for NE, NE on the road against a team that just slowed down and at times confused brady, add weather..hard to not look ahead..dak did not play well there in 19..btw that bit unfair we have to travel there twice in row..hmm
