Thoughts about the Giants

On their offfense, Thomas is incrementally getting better at LT but still has a little trouble with speed off the edge so Quinn could probably come up with something there.

Interior wise, their G-C-G combo of Brededson Price Hernandez represents 2 recent practice squad snatches from other teams and an underachiever after a promising rookie year in Hernandez.

Odiggy might have some success on the inside.

I'm manning Diggs wide on Golladay.
Shepard against Brown has me thinking Shep has the upper hand there.
Although Engram has played well against the Cowboys at times, his entire body of work while with the Giants is associated with frequent dropsies.

Saquon is a beast in space but often dances way too much behind the line instead of hitting the hole and taking what is there.
He is a legit home run threat in open field though.
Daniel Jones has some pretty good wheels the Cowboys gotta watch for like Hurts and he's a much more gifted passer than Jalen, his accurate deep ball is a particular strong trait.

On their defense, Leonard Williams may cause some interior discomfort at the first level but their back end with Bradberry, Adoree Jackson McKinney and Logan Ryan have all come up small this year compared to their promising potential last year.

I like how all of Dallas's current pass catchers are playing but recognize the names in the Giant secon dary but like I said they have under achieved this year imo.

Overall,
With the right coaching/game plan I just think this year's version of Dallas is a 2 score(maybe even more) superior team than this Giant opponent.

Division rival and all that I know. But if Dallas loses to this team it would seriously alter my perception of what I thought this Dallas team is.

you forgot to mention Jones’ new boy toy- KADARIUS TONEY, first round draft from Florida. He caught 6 for 78 yards last week. If you want to see what he looked like Sunday, go to YouTube and type his name and the date or game. You will see a 3 minute video on all plays directed to him. You should know a lot about him after watching that short video.

oh and you forgot John Ross…he caught 3 for 77 and a TD too.

both Shepard and Slayton probably don’t play….I hope not.

Yep I did. My bad. I guess both are at full speed now after last week's performance. College wise, I'm an Alabama guy so I'm familiar with Toney from Florida.
I guess I will hafta see it to believe it again to consider if Garrett's Saints game offense has taken that next step or still more similar to your games 1 through 3.
In other words, Is the Saint game Giant offense the new norm or an anomaly?

We'll see I guess.

I get to see the majority of Giants games being from NYC, have a good handle of their strengths and weaknesses:

-Giants biggest offensive weapon is Daniel Jones legs. Majority of their big plays come from him running, not passing the football.

-Barkley is slowly coming back from knee surgery, last week was by far his best game of the season

-Their TE has elite speed, but struggles badly with drops, especially in crucial times.

-Have a lot of talent at WR, but have some injuries and still trying to get on the same page.

-OL is still a big issue for them, but not their former #4 pick Thomas, having a strong season.

-Defense has played a lot of soft zone coverage.

-Run defense not as strong without Tomlinson and now Martinez. DE's are real power players.

-Struggle generating any pressure, outside of their rookie Ojulari.

-Outside corners are good.

-Kicker is real good, had a very long streak broken last week with conversions.

-Judge has been real conservative this season.

Thanks for Sharing ..

- TE Evan Ingram has 4.4 speed but seldom does it translate to the playing field.
He always had the dropsies and he doesn't seem to have innate knack and feel for the passing game.

You don't even seem Ingram settling in soft zone coverage and finding the open seams the way
a Schultz does. He made the Pro Bowl roster out of default, because of his garbage time numbers and there wasn't much NFC TE competiton
that year. Whenever we face Giants, i never have to worry about him.

I thought he'd be a dynamic star and fearful foe vs us for years to come when Giants drafted him in 1st rd.
. But he's been a bust thus far and talk of Giants moving on from him come when he becomes a FA.

- Giants defense doesn't have a catalystic impact player, aside from Leonard Williams.

- Where is safety Logan Ryan ?.. the guy responsible for dragging his body weight down upon Dak's ankle ?

- Giants haven't seen the threat of an offense this year the way they will come Sunday..the persistent run game, the motion and shifting and match up issues
they will face - Once again expect a lot of the 12 personnel, 2 TE packages that Cowboys have constant use in every game this year.
Keep using until teams finally counter a way in trying to defend it. .

- Its'' just a simple matter of Cowboys just Not Flat out beating themselves
with carelessness turnovers, penalties or several blown assignments.
Don't come out Flat and play down to the mediocre level of Garrett and the Giants.

- I want to take away Barkley, both run and pass, .and make Daniel Jones one dimensional. He holds the ball for sacks and he will turn the ball over
ala fumble strips and INTs.

- I'm also counting on Garrett continuing his simplistic play calling . Betcha we'll get some fancy pre-snap motion and sets early on, before Garrett eventually
resorts to trying to lining up and beating you man to man. Its what he feels most comfortable with.
I'm watching more for those quick RB screens to Barkley,

- Our defense are still are having a big penchant for giviing up chunk plays

- i haven't heard much of anything of sort from their no.1 pick WR 'Toney " ... Giants really wanted DeVontay Smith who Philly traded with
Cowboys to pick Smith instead of Smith sliding to the Giants slot.

- It is such a far cry different in OCs , as Jason Garrett cannot come close to comparing to his former OC Kellen Moore.
The play calling, in game adjustment and pass game route design is so completely different between the two.

- Also helps having Dak Prescott ..vs Daniel Jones. The decision making, knack for the game, and far better ball handling,..and Dak quickly gets rid of the ball
while Daniel Jones will hold and hold ball in pocket ..en route to another sack.

Toney has had a rough offseason with their team, contract, injuries, covid, etc. Without lack of reps, he is more of a gimmack player for them.

This game will be emotional for Dak. I hope he does not play like Brady did against the Patriots. What are the Giants players saying about the matchup? The guy who broke Dak’s ankle felt real bad about it.
That was Logan Ryan. Haven't heard much yet, but you know the Giants are big talkers.

You are a wise man….you are right….divisional games do add drama. Even when your guys were beating mine pretty regularly, I believe many of the games were fairly close. And, as I recall, I think the few recent wins we have had against your boys were in Texas and not in NJ. I feel very confident my boys will show up and make this highly competitive….not saying we will win. I just hope we don’t let Zeke and Pollard do to us what you did to Carolina.
Recent wins? You got 1 win against Dallas last season in the game without Dak...... other than that you guys haven't won since 2016. Dak has been sweep city

I sometimes get confused about our results each year and try to rely on my memory, which as you can see, is not always reliable. I was thinking we have split our 4 games the past two years…..but if you are right, and I’m sure you are (you sound pretty sure) then I guess we didn’t split in 2019. Me bad.

They won 6 games last year? They are on pace to do just as bad or worse.....not really seeing this improvement. And that's with them adding Toney and Golladay.......Barkley coming back.[/QUOTE
Giants have the 26th ranked pass defense

Ouch! This stat bothers me the most too. We all thought our secondary was top 5 this year.

James Bradberry- pro bowl last year
Adoree Jackson- highly rated playing for Tennessee Titans
Logan Ryan- smart safety
Jabril Peppers- very athletic safety
Xavier McKinney- back up safety
Julian Love- very good versatile back up, can play both CB and S

To be 26th is very concerning. Our DC, Patrick Graham, needs to do better because these guys have regressed from last year. We should be better.

I believe if you remove McCarthy from the team we'd still have a good team.

I believe if you remove Quinn or Moore from the team then we'd not be as good team of a team.

Moore and Quinn are the difference makers.

As I was saying yesterday. If you have your bar set at that bum Jason Garrett then McCarthy is great compared to that, but simply being better than Garrett is not enough for me. I expect much better from that, because the Jason Garrett bar isn't very high. McCarthy is the weak link.
So let me get this straight, you blame Dak when we lose, but don't give Big Mike credit when we win? Oh my...

Honestly, one game isn’t enough for me either. I will give Garrett his due for last Sunday, but I hope he realizes now, we can’t just play to score 17-20 points and count on our defense to hold the opposition to less. Our defense has taken a step back…I think losing Tomlinson was bigger than we thought. And now we lost Martinez for the year. So, the offense has to score 28 or more to win. I’m pretty sure 28 won’t be enough to win this Sunday…38 might. I seriously doubt we hold your boys under 30.

As for Garrett, I still don’t trust him and don’t want him….but I will be open minded and watch closely to see if he has changed his approach. This is 2021 and we now have great toys for our QB to play with in Barkley, Golladay, Toney, Ross, and Shepard. (I can’t put Engram in that list…he breaks my heart too often.) If Garrett continues to open things up, I suppose i could live with him a bit longer.

I would bet being the worst team in the league since 2017 the losses start to be hard to track. Good news though is if you can get past Dallas you'll have an easy time with the Rams, Panthers, Chiefs, Raiders and Bucs.

Tell ya what, since you wanna make things up, let's make a little challenge out of it.

If you can prove that I blame Dak for loses (I don't) i'll delete my account

If you can't then you delete yours.

I'm kinda tired of getting lumped in with the people that actually do put w/l on the QB simply because I offer criticism every now and then when it's warranted.

So, let's see what you're made of. Put your account where your mouth is. Deal?

Or.... You can apologize and we can move on. Easy enough, right?

No Dak lost both games to the giants in 2016 and haven't lost to them since. Split last year but Dak wasn't QB when y'all won.

wow, I am totally impressed with your knowledge of my boys. You hit on every one of them. You could have added a few things though, like these:

- their defense has allowed a last second TD every game just before the half this season.

- up until last Sunday Jason Garrett was calling the majority of plays that only allowed for his receivers to run button hooks. He finally listened to Giant fans screaming for him to let the horses run freely, and they did.

- the injuries to WRs, Shepard and Slayton, were a blessing in disguise because that allowed for both John Ross (4.2 speed) and Kadarius Toney (1st round pick) to show what they have. Speed and shifty moves. Combined with Golladay, Daniel Jones finally has some bona fide weapons to throw to, as shown by the 402 yards passing Sunday.

- a huge concern for NY is the fact that their defense has only been able to generate an average of one turnover and one sack per game. This needs to be corrected if they want to win more games.

LOL Garrett only ran button hooks for his receivers? Where did we all hear that before....
