Offense

-another slow start finally caught up to them. You cannot spot a good team a huge lead and expect to come all the way back.
-Very strange game from George Pickens, he seemed out of it all night, looked like he was playing half speed
-Rough night for Ferguson, fumble, huge penalty and that terrible call against him late
-Both Tackles had their struggles in pass protection, also Williams misses some blocks

Defense

-we all saw the stats, when they blitzed they generated pressure, when they didn't they struggled. As I said in the lead up, if you don't move Goff off the spot, he can kill you, which he did. Eberflus has been stubborn all yr not blitzing enough. It is obvious, they need more pass rush off the edge, but the DC has to generate pressure if it isn't working.
-Really struggled covering Gibbs as a receiver, he is a tough matchup where they just don't have the personnel the matchup.
-Goff was having a field day, with those quick, underneath passes without much resistance.
-Both our starting corners had their struggles. Not worried so much about Revel as he is still very green, especially in zone coverage, but Bland continues to have up and down play.
-Why was Bell covering Williams late in the game, why was Bridges doing the same? What is the love affair with Murray playing so many snaps?
-In my opinion, don't think Eberflus is the right DC to move forward with, but fear they are going to stay with him for continuity.
-This game finally exposed the defensive weaknesses that they have to address: Edge, LB and Safety. Bland also needs to play more consistent.

Special Teams

-Both kickoff and punt coverage was terrible, gave up huge field position every time. Giving a good offense a short field is a recipe for disaster.
-63 yard FG is unreal, he and the Jaguars kicker are on another level

I am not so upset at the loss as I kind of felt that this team is 1 good offseason away from truly competing. They have clear holes to address personnel wise and have to figure out some things schematically. Why do they struggle so much with the scripted plays to start the game? Eberflus doesn't have the Tampa Bay front where you can rush four and expect to get consistent pressure. Will he be replaced? Will Jerry open up his wallet and actually sign an impact fa starter or two? Is the franchise tag coming for Pickens?

I dont think they should have used their #1 pick to trade for Williams. That #1 could have panned out for years while, Im not sure Williams at his age will stay around too lond. IMO, the trade was a despearte reach to save this season which they just failed to do. If Willliams was a big target, they may have gotten him in the offseason for a better deal.

Finally a fair report thanks

From what I have seen most of this year, way more than a year away

1) Dallas currently sits 47 million over the cap next year and yes I know some money can be freed up but still they sit dead last in cap space for next year.

2) Despite 2 1st round picks, both of which will probably be in the latter half of the 1st round. They have no 2nd or 3rd round picks.

3) The secondary, LB's and Offensive Line all look like they need help, and despite his disappearing act last night the offense could take a step back if they can't resign Pickens and don't forget Javonte Williams will also be a UFA next year.

4) Terrible DC that both both Dumb and Dumber seem to be intent on keeping around.

5) Dallas are still, for the most part, bargain bin shoppers in free agency.

6) Most importantly, if Jerry is still around it will just be more of the same.

I saw a D playing well off the receivers AGAIN making it easy for Goff to carve up our secondary.

I saw no pressure on Goff and leaving the edges unguarded for easy catch and run screens.

I saw crap attempts at ARM TACKLES instead of wrapping up.

ALL OF THESE ARE ON EBERFLUSH.

I also saw a team that showed little or no effort on both sides of the ball.

THATS ON THE PLAYERS AND THE HC for poor planning and preparation. They’re pros and shouldn’t need high school motivation speeches from the coach to utilize proper skills they learned in high school.

I didn’t even drink my 1 bottle of Guinness because why waste that celebratory beer on what I was seeing? LOL.

And for those who keep pushing “we still have a chance” are you peeps insane or Jerrahl Jones alts?

And how many times have we all heard “ just wait until next year when we’ll REALLY be a Super Bowl contender!” and “we’re one season away!” LOL

Thinking they have a chance is like placing a pile of black chips on 2 craps, a one roll proposition bet. They lost every single “must win” game earlier in the season, including this one.

It was over a long time ago.

The. Season. Is. Over. That’s not negativity. That’s a fact.

And of course we know the buck really stops with the incompetent drunken PuppetMaster who needs to stick to things he’s good at - like his drilling. and his hookers (pun intended) - for the 30 years of drought and counting.
I can summarise him with the phrase “Alcohol, low standards, and poor decisions.”

It was fun.. until it wasn’t.

/end rant

You left out COACHING. I was pissed as soon as Shotty decided to kick the FG before half. I was once again amazed that a NFL HC can’t grasp basic clock management. Keep the offense on the field pretending to go for it on 4th. But NO let’s send out the kicking team and trigger the Detroit TO. That saved :25 and was the difference in Lions having time to get their FG before the half. Moron!

Offensive line, Ferguson and Pickens did not help their quarterback last night. Dak played well in spite of the hottest WR in the league quitting and Ceedee going down, Ferguson's drops and mentl miscues and the Offensive Tackles letting Detroit pass rush run abated at the QB. The opportunities were there and YNt supporting cast dropped the ball, literally.

Imagine if we had an offensive play maker like Gibbs on this team

Pickens is playing hurt and he has been hurt since the end of the Philadelphia game. Defenses are also starting to pay attention to him and play Pickens as a number one as well. That is why CeeDee was about to have a 200 yard receiving game and Flournoy had a breakout game.

If everyone returns next season we have a top 5 offense with upside. I still believe Guyton, Steele, and Thomas are serviceable tackles that are good enough that we don’t need to replace one of them with high pick.

The defense has major holes and let’s be real we have had these holes since Romo was the quarterback. We need a scheme that contain the new age offenses. You Clark truthers needed a reality check. The Cowboys need to move on from him and use his salary space to bring in some dogs for the defense.

The NFC North and NFC West are where the top teams in football reside. We cannot stop those teams defensively. Chicago, Green Bay, Arizona, and now Detroit ran over our defense. It is not just the players it’s the old scheme we run.

When I say the Cowboys have been average since Romo’s prime years, this is what I mean. The Cowboys can beat the bad teams and sneak up then bite an average team. The problem is we can’t compete with elite teams. Against those teams we have a front office and coaching disadvantage. The Joneses have to make themselves uncomfortable and get a real defensive coordinator. Then make some tough decisions in free agency for the Cowboys to get back to the Super Bowl. It’s gonna hurt the budget but sorry guys you have been getting rich for the last 30 years.

Yes the Cowboys are a year away....but we knew that already. They have several holes they need to fill before this is a playoff roster.
.....been saying this all year. We ain't a playoff contender yet.....too many holes to patch up. This team is like an unfinished basement......need drywall, outlets, electricity, and tile before the we can get comfortable. Need to sort out bad play, bad players, and bad coaching before the lights can come on. The defense is priority 1.

good points....in the close games you have to limit your mistakes and we made too many, coaches, players, offense and defense. Pickens can't let that ball get to his body. you are big dude, put your hands out and catch that ball. fergi fumbled again, when we are driving down for a score, in a 10-6 game. both of those idiot plays led to 14 points for detroit. we dug ourselves a whole.

they played aggressive defensively. we played passive. the DB backfield is slow. yes, bell was abused all night. he was the target with thosr routes coming across the formation and he was always late and trailing and I could run faster than he is. he is just not athletic.

we had no answer for their jumbo package. we became their b!tches when they ran those formation....campbell should have rubbed it in and just stayed with that all night.

we didn't run the ball effectively. we only ran 17 times!!!! not enough to control the clock or the ball game.

I had been saying it all off season, Tackles are a concern....Steele was abused a couple of times where DE just walked right passed him without being touched...and then Nate Thomas totally missed who he is supposed to block on another play. we gave up 5 sacks and we can't say it was Dak because when the DE just waltzes to the QB without anyone touching him, we have issues.

again, in close games you can't afford too many mistakes and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot....we keptdoing that....too many mistakes to overcome anything.

Williams has helped the entire DL, he is a very needed piece. Once they find an edge, the rest of the pieces will be much easier to fill.

How long do you think he will be around for and be productive . To be fair, Im not sure how long a good defensive player lasts in the league at elite levels. There is no doubt he anchored the defense. I just he is around at his elite status for at least 4 years for that trade.

I'm not one who thinks the cap doesn't matter but Dallas can easily get to about $85 million is cap space. Think they need to mortgage the future for a 2 year run.
