Thoughts/Opinions about last night's loss - a year away?

Offense

-another slow start finally caught up to them. You cannot spot a good team a huge lead and expect to come all the way back.
-Very strange game from George Pickens, he seemed out of it all night, looked like he was playing half speed
-Rough night for Ferguson, fumble, huge penalty and that terrible call against him late
-Both Tackles had their struggles in pass protection, also Williams misses some blocks

Defense

-we all saw the stats, when they blitzed they generated pressure, when they didn't they struggled. As I said in the lead up, if you don't move Goff off the spot, he can kill you, which he did. Eberflus has been stubborn all yr not blitzing enough. It is obvious, they need more pass rush off the edge, but the DC has to generate pressure if it isn't working.
-Really struggled covering Gibbs as a receiver, he is a tough matchup where they just don't have the personnel the matchup.
-Goff was having a field day, with those quick, underneath passes without much resistance.
-Both our starting corners had their struggles. Not worried so much about Revel as he is still very green, especially in zone coverage, but Bland continues to have up and down play.
-Why was Bell covering Williams late in the game, why was Bridges doing the same? What is the love affair with Murray playing so many snaps?
-In my opinion, don't think Eberflus is the right DC to move forward with, but fear they are going to stay with him for continuity.
-This game finally exposed the defensive weaknesses that they have to address: Edge, LB and Safety. Bland also needs to play more consistent.

Special Teams

-Both kickoff and punt coverage was terrible, gave up huge field position every time. Giving a good offense a short field is a recipe for disaster.
-63 yard FG is unreal, he and the Jaguars kicker are on another level

I am not so upset at the loss as I kind of felt that this team is 1 good offseason away from truly competing. They have clear holes to address personnel wise and have to figure out some things schematically. Why do they struggle so much with the scripted plays to start the game? Eberflus doesn't have the Tampa Bay front where you can rush four and expect to get consistent pressure. Will he be replaced? Will Jerry open up his wallet and actually sign an impact fa starter or two? Is the franchise tag coming for Pickens?
We are not a year away - we are a culture away!

The culture in Dallas is weak and not built for toughness that you need to make a run for a title

That’s class, I never have an issue admitting I made a mistake, good for you I like it
It took even more strength than you know because I was apologizing to @shabazz , and everyone here knows we've had mad beef with each other for years

My thoughts. Ground hog year -every year- for Dallas. 30 years now and what has changed? You can write a movie next season on how it will go by viewing the last 30 years. As long as the Ghoul continues to run the show. It'll always be a Three Ring Clown show. Jerry, promising you thrills and winning. While he delivers losing and broken promises. I'm still a Dallas Cowboy fan. Was one before the Ghoul even came. Will be one after the Ghoul is gone. Unfortunately....I can't change anything the Ghoul does. Sorta like driving past a bad car accident. You can only hope all will be well. And wish it had never happened.

Spot a good team or we just have a bad defense?

Montgomery averaged 10 yards a carry and we gave up 200 YAC yards. Goff threw for 100 yards.

We had 3 turnovers and crucial penalties.

They had 4 touchdowns in 17 plays for an average of 4.2 plays per TD. Their average TD was less than 50 yards.

DDS fans, Dak can't keep spotting teams points.

Dak does not play Defense or Special Teams.

-Offense has to stop hurting themselves with negative plays, penalties and turnovers.
-Defense has improved, but still a work in process. Run defense was actually good yesterday outside of one big run of 35 yards. What hurt them yesterday was their pass defense and inability to pressure the QB. Doesn't help when our DC does nothing to generate pressure.
-Special Team coverage units were awful last night

Schott has improved the culture, but it is still a work in progress.

3 turnovers killed us, especially the one to start the half. Without those turnovers we may have won the game, but even if we won 45-44, this team is still not good.

200 YAC yards is ridiculous, especially when you factor in they were only on half the field the entire game.

What is maddening is Eberflus is getting pressure on Goff, then he goes back to a 4 man line and having his corners playing 10 yards off their man. The way to beat the Lions is getting Goff to move off that spot and disrupt their timing. Think after a few Gibbs receptions, Eberflus went prevent mode.

I know, it’s painful. Lol. it makes my head spin when I tell myself I’m wrong.

Brown should have been jammed up on the line of scrimmage during every snap making it more difficult for his ankle and screwing up their timing.

As of late in the 2025 season, teams like the
Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and teams giving up a lot of total yards such as the Cincinnati Bengals, often lead in allowing Yards After Catch (YAC) because they give up significant receiving volume and big plays.

Dak needs to work on this. Why does he let Goff do that to him.

Post of the day!
For us old timers, I remember 3 straight 5 and 11 seasons.
Parcells came in and installed a tough culture.
We had a winning record and made the playoffs.
Ain't that amazing?

Extend JWill and The Leg ..hold off on pick, make him play out the season and see if he regresses before handing him a over priced #1 receiver contract

We lost a turnover game The Cowboys made all the mistakes they made almost zero, They lost in the trenches on both sides of the ball,

This is how the Cowboys have lost all their big games and guess what you hear too many people say oh the quarterback regressed he had a bad game no he didn't...

Anybody on here try to put even part of the blame on Prescott not using actual football IQ in common sense meaning he was under duress almost from the first snap until the last snap last night literally running for his life the offensive line did not do their job they did not even open holes there was no run game they made our offense one dimensional and covered our guys pretty well and prescott did all he could.

Best mistakes were made from the offense,

1st off, I’m sick and tired of people calling interceptions that are in the body, and in the hands of receivers, both those interceptions was on George Pickens and RyanF.

They literally had the ball hit them in the hands or the body. They literally are not interceptions, to my opinion, those go on the receivers.

I called those fumbles, even though technically it’s not a fumble, should not go on the résumé of the quarterback, frigging ridiculous, people talk about the quarterback regressed last night, really??

Dak was under duress all game, There was no run game, The offensive line was terrible, There was no defense, and his two interceptions hit the receivers in the hands, and that’s on Prescott?? That’s what everyone saying he regressed, no, the team regressed!!

This is how Cowboys lose big games.

So when the team sucks,

causal fans blame the quarterback. It’s insane, the man was under heavy pressure all right from the first to the last series, he still got the ball into the hands of its receivers, and then they let them turn into interceptions, Furgeson fumbles, AGAIN , and it’s on Prescott, man give that nonsense a break.

This did come down to the mistakes, a couple of missed calls, a couple of bad calls, but it’s inexcusable to have these receivers, have the ball hit them in the hands, and then it turns into interception, especially Ryan in his stomach ,and gets it pulled out before he secured it ,the fumble by Furgueson, I mean the O shot themselves in the foot....

And that’s not even the worst part,

I mean 3 of those clearly not on Prescott , and yet they’re blaming him for the offense being bad, but getting the ball into the hands of his players to try to make plays, bringing his team back within 3, just to have a defense , yes the defense again looks like the old defense, I’m gonna give up 44 points with little resistence.

Ho hum Matt is dumb, I Mean all the nightmares stuff that happened to the team, came back again, bad defense, got your butt beat in the trenches i.e. they couldn’t block for they couldn’t open up the run game, and then all the key players made mistake mistakes.

You can’t have that, and by the way, it’s not the first time Furgeson fumbles. He got lucky. The other ones rrolled out of bounds in the last couple of games. This has been happeni ng even George Pickens, This is the second time this year he Ghad a ball hit him in the hands and it turned into an interception, He’s also fumbled twice that they got lucky to recover it,

They’ve been sloppy, and they’ve been lucky to win these last 3 games, but it all came to pass last night,

But Still, they put up 30 points and could’ve won that game had the defenses bowed up a little bit after they got it within 3 ie 30-27, it was new game ,lots of time left, immediately just give up 7 points, like it’s a charity, like they were donating to a good cause.

Yes, it looked very similar to the Green Bay Packer playoff loss, lots of people making mistakes, and seemingly ,and I know it was in the heat of the moment, people are blaming the quarterback, saying he could have played better..

I don't think he could have, not in that situation under duress all game, did you not notice how fast he had to get out of the pocket and still had guys in his face either direction on rollouts, it was like the Lions defensive line were playing on our side of the line of scrimmage all night,

he did what he could to salvage any of those series, those plays, etc...

If you want to chalk this up to a team loss that's fine but it starts with the defense then it circles getting beat in the trenches once again on both sides Can't run can't stop the run mistakes by your key players and then if you want to finally get to Prescott and say you wish he would have been a little bit more clean I don't know how you can say that but if you want to put him 5th on the list on the reason we lost that's fine and that's usually the case with our quarterbacks when you go look at the game the real game from the inside out the quarterback couldn't have done much more..

Guy said when it became 30 to 27 it was a new game and our topped it back up our players just fumble it back to the other team I don't see how prescott could have changed that.

Asking a player once again to play perfect and that is wrong to expect that he did the best he could with what he had in front of him which wasn't much...

And lastly,

I didn't even mention Lamb was our best player on offense goes out almost the last 20 minutes of the game or whatever it was that's no excuse but maybe he doesn't fumble that ball II don't know maybe it doesn't bounce off his hands....

I mean, I get it it's frustrating ,you want to find a single thing to blame but really they just made too many mistakes And I'm not talking about the quarterback the entire team did not play well it makes the quarterback's job three times as hard but again you want to put his name on there that's fine but you put it way down the list like I am...

to add insult to injury, during the game, I'm thinking I'm hearing my toilet running, and when I track it down, I believe I have a foundation leak somewhere, at least it's not flooding my house, and I have an appointment today to hear some more bad news just pile on...UGHH

Rant over...
Eeeek. Just, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK!!!!

This team is now built the right way, they actually invested inside the trenches. Now it is about filling out the skilled positions, which are easier.
No, it's about getting LBs and a FS. Ignore that, and next year won't matter either.
