Thoughts/Opinions about last night's loss - a year away?

Post of the day!
For us old timers, I remember 3 straight 5 and 11 seasons.
Parcells came in and installed a tough culture.
We had a winning record and made the playoffs.
Ain't that amazing?
I really think a year away is possible despite the current culture.

Demarcus Lawrence , Parsons, and Potentially Diggs may be exactly what's needed to establish a new attitude on defense. ( despite their individual talent)

I could see the addition of an edge, LB and safety completing what's needed here but they have to be dawgs and free agency may have to actually be used correctly this time.

Aquire a LB with the mindset of a Ray Lewis or Keuchley here and accountability starts immediately.

No, it's about getting LBs and a FS. Ignore that, and next year won't matter either.
Id add an edge rusher with some skills as well.

It's completely doable with the draft and free agency.....if they spend the greenbacks

John it wasnt good last night pal. They played about like your cousin's '74 Falcons played. I don't need to remind you how bad they were. I believe that team cost Norm his job.
Yes, you are correct on both counts.
This team needs a tough HC, and Jerry won't do it.

Offense

-another slow start finally caught up to them. You cannot spot a good team a huge lead and expect to come all the way back.
-Very strange game from George Pickens, he seemed out of it all night, looked like he was playing half speed
-Rough night for Ferguson, fumble, huge penalty and that terrible call against him late
-Both Tackles had their struggles in pass protection, also Williams misses some blocks

Defense

-we all saw the stats, when they blitzed they generated pressure, when they didn't they struggled. As I said in the lead up, if you don't move Goff off the spot, he can kill you, which he did. Eberflus has been stubborn all yr not blitzing enough. It is obvious, they need more pass rush off the edge, but the DC has to generate pressure if it isn't working.
-Really struggled covering Gibbs as a receiver, he is a tough matchup where they just don't have the personnel the matchup.
-Goff was having a field day, with those quick, underneath passes without much resistance.
-Both our starting corners had their struggles. Not worried so much about Revel as he is still very green, especially in zone coverage, but Bland continues to have up and down play.
-Why was Bell covering Williams late in the game, why was Bridges doing the same? What is the love affair with Murray playing so many snaps?
-In my opinion, don't think Eberflus is the right DC to move forward with, but fear they are going to stay with him for continuity.
-This game finally exposed the defensive weaknesses that they have to address: Edge, LB and Safety. Bland also needs to play more consistent.

Special Teams

-Both kickoff and punt coverage was terrible, gave up huge field position every time. Giving a good offense a short field is a recipe for disaster.
-63 yard FG is unreal, he and the Jaguars kicker are on another level

I am not so upset at the loss as I kind of felt that this team is 1 good offseason away from truly competing. They have clear holes to address personnel wise and have to figure out some things schematically. Why do they struggle so much with the scripted plays to start the game? Eberflus doesn't have the Tampa Bay front where you can rush four and expect to get consistent pressure. Will he be replaced? Will Jerry open up his wallet and actually sign an impact fa starter or two? Is the franchise tag coming for Pickens?
Ferguson needs to be cut. What a JAG.

We need all new CB’s. Every one of ours SUCKS.

I would strongly consider moving up for Caleb Downs depending on how far he falls down.

They are in prime position to get all the players they need.

It is hard to find quality D-Coordinators that are available to hire.
- Most already have jobs.
- I would consider Al Harris.

I think we are 30 years away....there is Jerry to get through and God rest his soul. then maybe another 25 years of Stephen. so be patient. your grand kids will see the success and talk about it, when their grand father told them fables about the great cowboys.

This team will NEVER be ready as long as Dak is at QB.
Yes, because he can't stop the defense from giving up 30+ points game.

I wonder how Mahomes and Brady did it?

With Patrick Mahomes as quarterback, the Kansas City Chiefs' record when the defense allows 30 or more points is 7 wins and 13 losses (7-13) all-time.

Tom Brady's record when his defense allowed 30+ points varied by team, 14-27 Patriots record showing wins still happened). With the Buccaneers, it was a tougher 2-8.

Looks like they struggled as well.

Some day you might be smart enough to comprehend this.

When an NFL defense gives up 30 or more points, the quarterback's chances of winning are significantly reduced, though not impossible; historically, teams win this type of high-scoring game less than 20% of the time, with some analyses showing win rates around 9-10% when over 32 points are allowed, highlighting that while good QB play is crucial, it's a tough situation against strong opposing offenses.
A high-scoring game with 40+ points allowed by your defense usually spells a loss for the quarterback and their team.
NFL teams, and by extension their quarterbacks, win approximately
95% to 98% of the time when they score 40 or more points. Scoring 40 points is a highly reliable, though not absolute, indicator of victory.

I would like someone on either the Vikings or Broncos defensive staff, really like their schemes

Hopefully somebody posts a picture of him in a gas mask smoking herb.....Jerry will scoop him up

Replace Eberturd and Murray. Def will be light years better. Murray is the worst LB in the NFL. Don't know how he is still on a roster, let alone start and play meaningful snaps. Eberturds zone bend but don't break approach with DBs playing 10 yds off is terrible.

4 TD's on 17 plays or 4.2 plays per TD drive, seems more like break but don't bend.

If by design or accident the coaches having Revel starting at CB is a good thing . Get this player exposed to the NFL it’s not East Carolina anymore and get a head start on what it takes to be an effective corner in the NFL .

He has the tools and it’s learning on the job .
Hopefully next seasons DC ( change is coming ) plays press man more doesn’t have these corners lost in space .

You left out COACHING. I was pissed as soon as Shotty decided to kick the FG before half. I was once again amazed that a NFL HC can’t grasp basic clock management. Keep the offense on the field pretending to go for it on 4th. But NO let’s send out the kicking team and trigger the Detroit TO. That saved :25 and was the difference in Lions having time to get their FG before the half. Moron!
so your saying he should have faked going for the 1st down? or the td, dont remember lol.
only if the clock were running already could they have run more time off.
I will have to check that out now.

Imagine if we had an offensive play maker like Gibbs on this team
if we had gibbs he wouldnt be used the same way !! lol
We would throw to him except that flat pass or a screen, and he would just run into the middle on 1st down most of the time.
We have blue who could be used as a pass rec only and get the same effect but our coaches are too stupid.
