So, i recently discovered the joy of smoking fine cigars and found that there is a great smoking lounge close to my house. I've been trying a lot of different smokes to see which ones i really like and recently purchased a 100 count humidor which im in the process of seasoning now. In about 2 weeks I'll be ready to fill it.

I thought i would list some of my favorite cigars so far from the ones i have sampled and I am hoping that some of you will share some of your favorites as well. Hopefully my spelling is correct on these.

Liga # 9 was probably my favorite thus far but is very strong and pricey so will be a smoke for special occassions.

I also would put the Juilius Ceaser in this catergory.

Leaf by Oscar cigars are really awesome - i have tried several of them with the maduro being my favorite and i think almost as good as the Liga # 9. I also tried one called Island Jim last night by the same maker as Leaf and it was very good.

Perdomo 20th aniversarry - both the sungrown and the maduro.

Emilio AFI

I liked the Alec Bradley - New York, but was not crazy about some of the other Alec Bradley cigars - im going to try the Alec Bradley prensado this week.

I tried a cigar called J.D. Howard - made by crowned heads. It has great flavor and burned perfectly but was fairly mild. After smoking the entire cigar to a nub i felt like i wanted another cigar - so it is a good one when you want a light smoke.

I have not tried a Padron cigar yet - i didnt see any at the lounge i go to so will have to look elsewhere but have read that they are awesome.

Also I see Davidoff is a big name - will look for something from their line.

Lot's of very good cigar makers out there. It's all subjective as to the best ones. Most of the ones you mentioned I have tried... and they are of great quality. I would suggest ordering a sampler from a quality maker and try several different types...

CAO out of Nicaragua makes a quality, affordable, great stick... I like the LX2.

When I had Satellite Radio I listed to a show called "Cigar Dave" on Saturdays... The whole show was based on Fine Cigars and Libations... I learned a lot listening to him. Even if you don't have Sat Radio, his webpage is very informative. cigardave.com

Try some Puros Indios. They are really pretty affordable and if you intend to smoke on a very regular basis, they are a smoke that you can do this with, without going poor.

You can often find them online for around 35/40 bucks a stick for a box of 20. Check em out.

Thanks guys. So any issues with buying cigars online ? So far i have just been buying from the place in my neighborhood to support the local business. But there seem to be good deals online. Im just wondering about the quality control isuues with buying online and having them shipped, as to whether the cigars are maintained at the right levels for humidity and temp and so forth.

Have you noticed any difference at all in buying from a store vs buying on line ?

If you liked the Liga you should try an undercrown. They're made by the same maker and are cheaper. As far as Padron you should try the 1964 maduro, My personal favorite

Im kind of high society, so i stick to swisher sweets black

Using a father's prized cigar collection to "make due" has humorous consequences. Heads explode when they found it was cut and dumped :D Keep it classy San Diego

No politics at all but have a general question related to Cuban cigars and where they stand with other high end cigars? Are they premium quality or does the popularity result from the stigma attached? I recently saw Kevin Spacey share one with the Russian President in House of Cards but thought that "appeal" had died out since the 90's.

Much cheaper, IMO, to buy online. I actually recommend it. The only time I go into a cigar shop anymore is if I am looking for something specific on short notice or if I'm on the road and am having dinner with somebody I know likes cigars.

I don't think they are better then others you might buy. Some may disagree but the reality is that most of the families that made good Cigars from Cuba left when it became controlled by Castro. They are now trying to get back into the US markets so you might be able to get some good deals on them (don't really know) but I actually think others are better. JMO

I picked up an under crown Friday. Will be trying it this week. Also had the Emilio af2 last night. Maybe my new favorite.
