I am just curious why people want to cut doug free?

What exactly is it about him that people do not like?

Did I miss something?

I am hoping we draft some good lineman this year also, but I dont think free is going anywhere, nor should he.

Tom Ciskowski was an offensive and defensive line coach before becoming a scout, he even was tony wise's offensive line assistant coach once upon a time.

He was also butch davis's defensive line assitant coach at miami for a couple of years, so hopefully this draft he can find some offensive and defensive lineman this year.

I expect Dallas to make draft selections at all 3 spots and then they will battle with the bubble boy vets.

I tend to agree that Dallas would like to trade Carp but they aren't going to do that for a 6th or 7th. They'll keep him and let cover kickoffs first. Unless it is at the end of camp and he has been beaten out by a rookie or two. We certainly don't want or need additional 6th or 7th round picks this draft.

Now if a team will give up a 4 then Barbie will be adieu.

We will be lucky to get a bag of Doritos and a Dr. Pepper for Barbie.

I would love a dr. pepper and a bag of doritos right this second so I assure you that is overpaying for a bench-riding ponytail.

1) Barbie Carp: Draft day trade to Miami or NE for something along the lines of a 6th or 7th. If Wade thinks your soft, you cant play in this league. Maybe the Tuna makes a man outta him.

2) Doug Free: Cut after the second exhibition game. I expect the boys to draft at least two OL 2nd to 5th round who make the 53 man roster. When you are inactive all season in your second year, not a good sign.

3) Stanback: This guy is that workout warrior that either never translates to the field or just cant stay Healthy. I think Jerry really likes the guy, but if he gets hurt in camp like I expect, they'll cut em. His only shot is stay healthy and have a good camp particularly on special teams returning kicks. This is also the guy I could see somebody picking up and all of a sudden he does a Jimmy Smith. Either way the boys draft a WR too, but the rookie could take Sam Hurds spot too. I dont think Hurd is an NFL quality reciever from a tools standpoint.

Who is Barbie Carp....don't see that name on the roster...

I don't think they still know about Free. He could stay 1 more year. Inactive has nothing to do with it. Certain circumstances could be there we don't know about. However, if someone does prove to be better, as with any player, then he goes.

Agree pretty much with Stanback. I would like to see him step up and prove himself. It is there for his taking, and as you said, Hurd could be the guy that is out. I would like to see both of them do well. But that's why they churn the roster.

Stand on the sidelines in street clothes is my guess
If Newman gets a break for his injuries, so should he. A bad toe, ankle, and shouler, there is nothing he can really do about. The guy might be fragile, but I don't think he should be cut until he really gets a true chance to shoe what he can do on the field.

How many years are we going to keep him around until then?

I'd say until his contract runs out. As of now, it hasn't hurt us to really have him on the roster, I think with his athleticism he deserves a shot at a couple of plays a game as the #5 or 6 WR (though I hate keeping 6)

Not too far-fetched, imo.

Uh, except the part about Stanbeck pulling a Jimmy Smith. Recall that J Smith was absolutely lights out when healthy....but have to emphasize the when. The guy was amazing. Now if we let Miles Austin go, I could see him making us regret it someday....but not on a 5 time Pro Bowl level like Jimmy Smith.

I don't remember him doing much as a Cowboy (perhaps because he was often hurt, but still a stretch to say that he 'lights out' with us.)

Why stop at three?

Cory Proctor - will always be a liability whether he plays at G or C. A 2nd round tender for this guy...what a joke!
Pat Watkins - grades out as a poor man's Izell Reese and that makes him a waste of space...enough is enough!
Sam Hurd - other than good size, but what else does Hurd bring to the table? I'll tell you...absolutely nothing!!
Pat McQuistan - this "average joe" needs to be upgraded in the draft and sent packing to Miami.

You're far off base from what the team apparently thinks. While I don't think anyone but possibly Watkins can be ever be a quality starter in this league the latter three have a chance. And Proctor is apparently better than most here think. They did start him over the rest and tendered an offer to him.
