Our history of drafting QB's the past 25 years is scant to say the least. Since 1990, here's the number of QB's selected per team.

Arizona/Phoenix - 10
Atlanta - 9
Baltimore - 11
Buffalo - 5
Carolina - 7
Chicago - 11
Cincinnati - 10
Cleveland - 9
Dallas - 3
Denver - 12
Detroit - 7
Green Bay - 12
Houston (Texans) - 7
Indianapolis - 7
Jacksonville - 6
Kansas City - 7
Los Angeles/Oakland (Raiders) - 8
Miami - 6
Minnesota - 10
New England - 13
New Orleans - 7
New York (Giants) - 10
New York (Jets) - 13
Philadelphia - 11
Pittsburgh - 10
San Diego - 10
San Francisco - 11
Seattle - 9
St. Louis/Los Angeles (Rams) - 8
Tampa Bay - 11
Tennessee (Oilers/Titans) - 8
Washington - 13

For whatever reason, our FO just doesn't put a premium on drafting QB's not only high, but at all; no one else in the league is even close to our number. This isn't indicative of scouting regimes and coaches as they come and go, but Jerry himself as he's the lone constant.

I'm sure there's counterarguments to be made that we shouldn't waste a pick on a position where the starter is entrenched (Aikman, Romo). I'm sure a case could be made that the FO deemed guys like Henson, Hutchinson, etc. as cheap investments with considerable talent that could have been high picks had they not gone the baseball route.

The end result is we're still chasing SB's and success while other teams build bigger trophy cases.

Like you said, for a good portion of those years, we had an established elite QB. However, between the Aikman and Romo years, there's absolutely no excuse. I hope Jerry learned his lesson and starts looking for a guy.

would have been 4 in 25yrs if you count JJ wanting Manziel before he was outvoted on that one and glad he was.

Jerry's too busy always thinking he can circumvent the system and get talent for cheap.

It works sometimes, with Collins this past season, but the majority of times it fails. He shops at Neimans in real life, and shops at Kmart when he tries to outsmart everyone.

I see this story from a different perspective. I see a league filled with teams failing to draft a franchise quarterback and their teams suffering in perpetuity as a result.

The reason is simple. Why spend a draft pick on a QB when we already have a starter in place when you can try to improve the team around him by using the pick on a different position.

Now you can argue the merit of that line of thinking all day long but that is the reason. It's not like we avoided drafting QB's for no reason.

Worked with Romo. Thats part of why they are delusional about finding a qb. Also one of those 3 wasnt really even a qb Isaih Stanbak.

Buffalo is pretty close. We'd be close to a Buffalo if Romo had not turned out to be Romo. We got lucky there. Time to start drafting a QB every year or two if possible.

This doesn't cut it and frankly ********.the packers had 3 great and even hall of famers within that time and they have drafted 12 QBs .we are just lazy and afraid to fail but have been failing for 2 decades and that's on Jerry the GM.

You're preaching to the choir my friend. I'm as annoyed with our lack of drafting QBs as anyone on this planet. There's no excuse not to. How many times have the Patriots and Packers drafted a QB, let him sit for a year, show him off, then trade him for a round or two higher than they took him?

New England, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and NYG have drafted double digit quarterbacks in this time period. They've been extremely successful over this same period. I'm not saying there is a direct correlation, but I think you are oversimplifying it.

Isaiah Stanback wasn't in the three that we drafted as he was drafted as a WR, not a QB. The three we drafted were Bill Musgrave, Quincy Carter and Stephen McGee.

That's true for some teams but not for all. You see teams who have had some success over those years like Pittsburgh (10), Green Bay (12) and New England (13). It's as much an organizational philosophy for some teams than it is out of sheer necessity.

Who did these teams draft that took them onto win championships? They got their guy, and that guy remained the starter.

What three great QB's has GB had since 90? There's Favre and Rodgers...who am I forgetting? The only other great QB I can come up with is Starr, and he last played about 45 or so years ago.
