Not disputing this, however, after the first round, there are more guys who aren't starters than who are, so again, it's an indisputable fact that the best chance at landing a starting QB is in the first round

Yes, teams over draft QB, but the Ron Wolf strategy is nice if you already have a QB, like they did in Favre. If Romo goes down for good, and we attempt this, odds are we waste the prime of guys like Smith, Martin, Frederick, Dez and Elliott.

And we wouldn't have guys like Smirh, Fred, Martin, Dez and Zeke if we bet the farm like the Rams, Eagles and Commanders did recently. We know the Commanders busted out, the Eagles and Rams are TBD. If we drafted high and ones there, you can take him. To mortgage your current draft and future picks is a huge risk that could crush your team. And to your comments about Ron Wolfs process, yes we should have invested some later round picks to this years ago. And again regarding first round QB's. Given the high bust rates for QB's, I'd rather bust on multiple later round picks then multiple 1st round picks.

We won't pick top of the draft again until we don't have Romo for most of a season, and then we'd better hope that there's a stud at the top of the draft to be had. I don't think anyone thought any of the QBs this year were can't miss. I think we showed the same on Lynch by being willing to trade a 2 and a 4 but not a 2 and a 3. If we thought he was a franchise guy he's the pick at #4, in my opinion. Yes we need a starter to groom, and this was a great chance to get one, until the first two picks got traded to teams so they could grab QBs.

I suspect if there was a Luck or Newton there at 1 this year we very well might have given up the insanity it would have taken to get him.

I had Frederick 50th. Mid 2nd round. I thought the 5th round value talk was nuts.

The media blasted the Cowboys in 2013 for the pick, and you hear toms of people who thumped their chest and said that they had Fred graded late in the draft. You don't see those same people thumping their chest now, standing behind those 5th or 6th round grades.

They need to grade the graders. Maybe we should start our own service about grading the graders ...... right after the draft and 3 years later. That might single handedly cost a few talking heads their jobs.

Even if that happened, 2 pro bowlers and 3 more contributors, if Goff, Wentz or Lynch become a franchise QB and the Cowboys go through lean years without one, this draft is a coat hanger abortion. Those players don't matter then. They were at 4 with teams 1 and 2 ready to move out. The mission was to identify a franchise QB and go get that guy. They didn't do that. So, to me, the success of this draft hangs on not only the success of the players they picked but of the three they didn't.

I guess the Cowboys don't see any of the Big 3 as being franchise caliber guys. Judging from what they did in this draft, it seems as though they were highest on Lynch, because they actually made the move to go and get him. So, based on the evidence, it seems that the only one we rue not getting was Lynch. Time will tell if we made the best decision, or not.

This can still turn out to be a very good draft, with or without the franchise QB. To think otherwise is really not being fair. Hell, if the Cowboys were omnipotent they would have snagged Brady in the late 5th round years ago.

This isn't the only draft for a QB......we drafted one by the way
