Its called timing. Just when the ball is about to arrive, you see Roy and when the receiver is about to catch it, bam. Receiver remember again why they didn't like running across the middle on the Boys. Ask Toomer how it feels. He'll remind they rest of the Giants Wr core.

Fitzgerald caught that pass from warner on the right hash on a mistake from Warner. Davis was in position to make a play but Fitzgerald made an excellent grab on a poorly aimed ball.

Now our LBers did look pretty bad against 3WR sets and were not getting the right depth on some posts but that is hardly the safeties faults.

You also seem to forget the beating our safeties were putting on people. Andre Johson who very well be the best WR in the game was scared out there.

BA, you're out of your mind. My man, you're simply not thinking clearly. Giving up 400 points had little or nothing to do with throwing over the middle.

We gave up 400 points because we could not pressure the QB and we had injuries. Number 1 draft pick in 2005? Top passrusher in the Draft. #1 priority of the off season? Pressure the QB. Everything we did this off season was about fixing what was wrong in 2004. Did we plug every hole? Probably not, but we hardly stood pat.

Consider this as well. WRs do NOT like to go over the middle. You act like they all can do it. No they can't. Some WRs "hear footsteps" as soon as they get away from the sidelines. Why do they "hear footsteps?" Because big hitters at SS patrol the middle. Who's the biggest big hitter SS in the NFL? His name is Roy Williams and he wears #31. Take a look at him, I think you'll get over your acid reflux.

Also this preseason I think it was mentioned in every game that Parcells kept the defense in its standard vanilla D when the offenses came out with 3 or 4 receiver sets.
Thats not to excuse everything, I do think that our LBers have not been getting there pass drop coverages right and that has led to the intermediate part of the center of the field being open.

As a young boy, I used to go trolling for walleye. It appears that you've done some trolling for bites as well. I'll nibble just because I enjoy watching you fish.

I'll give you that Roy is not a premier cover safety. But to say that he can't cover you, well that's just silly. Roy was adequate even at FS last year. Just not a playmaker.

We do not yet know what KD can do. He seems to be a playmaker and has improved during the off season.

Both of those things coupled with the fact that if some unfortunate soul does catch the ball over the middle, he's going to get knocked right into next week, eases the apprehension I felt a month ago.

Sometimes the fear of getting creamed while going over the middle is just as good as a receiver being covered like a blanket. Many receivers feel like every time they go across the middle, they are flirting with the possibility of something terrible happening. Add to the fact that we have two big hitters at both safety positions and you should see a sharp decrease in deep crossing attempts from last year.

Teams may complete some balls but Dallas will make them pay. With Roy roaming around and Davis showing he is no light weight when it comes to laying the wood WR and TE will pay the price.

FS is a concern. I think it will take at lest three games for Davis to get used to regular season game speed and see things and learn things that he didn't in pre season. Against the Jags starters he was a little late on the deep pass they completed to Henry. It will take him a while to react instead of thinking and reacting but I do think he will pick it up. That's about how long it took Scott even though he had been a backup safety for a while. I'm not saying Scott was great but after he replaced Dixon, it took about three games for him to settle in.

BA, we did a TON of upgrading in the off season.

I do think BA is taking this thing over the top, I do think we have added members to help the secondary, players to get after the QB in the LB corps and members on the front line to help clog the middle.

However to act like this is not a concern with a young group of LBs learning the system and even the coach saying they are still learning when to drop into coverage.

I do think he has a right to be concerned....it may not be as big as he is making it out, but early on I think it is indeed a concern.
