Been married 27 years, and you nailed it lol. We know . Anyone that's been married KNOWS these tend not to be productive talks.Clearly their meeting was bout as effective as when your wife comes to you and says "we need to talk."
Not a chance. Facing Parsons twice a year.Sure do. Parsons isn’t doing much in GB so far.
He reminds me of Baker Mayfield. Little faster. Lots of Moxie and his mom is smoking.I like Dart. I always thought he was the best QB in this years draft. He's special. Better Pro than college player. The only issue with him will be can he learn how to slide. He's one hit away from getting his brain scrambled.
he and Baker are indeed similar. Moxy and spirit. I like that in my franchise QB. Dak has that too. The Gents might have found their guy, thus saving dumbo's HC gig another year.He reminds me of Baker Mayfield. Little faster. Lots of Moxie and his mom is smoking.
In the NFL owners’ zeal for creating more offense they foolishly elected to change the rule and allow the players to assist the ball carrier by pushing him. At the time they concocted the excuse it was too difficult to officiate the rule that disallowed assisting the ball carrier. The tush push is an unintended consequence of that rule change. The irony is now the owners want to use the too hard to officiate the tush push as the excuse to disallow it.Ummmm, the TP is illegal because there are about 7 penalties on the same play and all by the offense. The only way to stop it is to send a LB or big safety like a missile right over the HeAds of the linemen. It’s unfair because there is no solid way to defend it and whoever designed it should be sent to prison.
The league will never start using the chance of injury as a reason to disallow the play. Other plays have a higher incidence of injury. The obvious rule change would be no tackling. That would reduce the number of injuries far more the just getting rid of the tush push. That has been my proposal, and I actually wrote about it in an editorial. Pushing was banned until the league decided it was too hard to regulate. And now we have this.
I think we could see only the tush push banned, though, for the same reason. Officials would have to decide if someone pushing is actually coming up to block and moves the pile by running into the ball carrier if the league went back to no pushing.
I think they could regulate it to an extent by just making it where you can't put your hands on another offensive player to push him forward. That way if a lineman is trying to block and shoves a back forward with his body, it wouldn't be a penalty.
But as I said, someone did get injured, right here in this game, so the advocates against it will use that as a reason. If any other injuries happen, they will say it is too dangerous despite other plays being just as dangerous or more so.
I think banning pushing is the fair way to go with it, and that was the change that was introduced at the second owners' meeting.
Many of the teams are against it, so I expect it to eventually be banned. That's why I think injuries like the one last night will play a role. When you already have a group of ownership that is against something, you don't have to load up on ammunition. No owners are against tackling, so injuries being tackled has no bearing. With owners against this, injuries absolutely are a consideration. They had one. If they have another this year, they will be claiming that the risk for the amount the play is used is too high. The league will never start using the chance of injury as a reason to disallow the play. Other plays have a higher incidence of injury. The obvious rule change would be no tackling. That would reduce the number of injuries far more the just getting rid of the tush push.
Now, NFL owners either really care about players’ health or they don’t. The NBA, MLB, NHL all do fine without players tackling one another. Contact and fighting is actually a plus in the NHL. I believe the owners will, in the end, tread lightly on getting rid of the tush push. Since it does not seem to be much of an advantage to the Eagles right now, they’re struggling, probably be a good idea to table the issue, for awhile.
