My son and I want to make the long trek to Texas and take in a Longhorn game (his favorite college football team) and the Cowboys (my favorite NFL team). We live in Rochester, NY, but we really want to do this. Question is this: There are only 2 dates that work for us and I don't want to get killed with the cost of the tickets. The flights, hotels, etc. will be expensive enough. Thinking of coming in on a Friday and leaving on Monday. The 2 dates that work are Sept. 19 & 20th (unfortuntely the opening game at the new stadium, so I'm thinking tickets will be hard to come by or expensive) ... or Nov. 21 & 22nd (the "Boys play Washington). Anyone got any connections, etc. that could help with 2 tickets at reasonable prices. Thanks for helping a fellow Cowboy fan out. This is something I really want to do with my son!!

Thanks,

Try Craigslist or the ticketmaster site on the Cowboys website. People resell their ticets there and sometimes you can get a good price. It is argueble whetehr to get them now or wait a bit until demand weens down. Also, be on the look out for when they go on sale publicly as I am sure JErry did not sell all 100K of seats. But you may get bad seats that way.

As for Longhorn Tickets...not sure about those. If you are trying to save money, I would stay away from the 1dt game as it could cost you $$$$ especially decent seats.

Hope it helps. See you there at first game if you opt for that route. I got my tickets already through one connection that I got lucky on. Can;t wait to see that TV in person! And take the tour of the stadium!

They're only going to have a capacity of about 85,000 for regular season games. And I'd be surprised if tickets go on the open market.

I have season tickets and was talking to my sales rep about a month ago and she said that over 90% of the seats had already been sold, and the only thing left were single seats. She may have been blowing smoke, but seeing as I already had my tickets, I don't know what her motivation would be for doing so.

So I guess some limited single seats may be available, but I wouldn't count on a whole lot of tickets being available on the primary market... I think you'll have to go through brokers or ebay or craigslist for pretty much everything.

And I can't imagine the first game is going to be a cheap ticket to find unless you get lucky.

Other sources are StubHub or EBay. You picked two pretty hot tickets for 2009 with the Cowboys having the new digs and UT projecting to be very very good.

Any idea what date single game tickets might go on sale?

No, but if you call or email the Cowboys Ticket Office, they'll probably tell you.

I bit the bullet and purchased the tickets for both games on Stub Hub (Cowboys/Giants opening game and Texas/Tech). It was expensive, but it's a once in a lifetime trip with my son, so I'm sure it will be special. I'm so pumped .... really looking forward to it. Anybody got any ideas where to stay and what to do while we are there? We've never been to Texas. My son is 25, so we are looking to do a little partying and have a whole bunch of fun. Can't wait. We are flying in on Thursday and leave Monday. The flights are the cheapest part of the whole trip .... $206 per person round trip.

when your in austin.....

stay away from any hotel on I-35 thats south of round rock. try staying in the west side of town stay as far away as possible from anything on the east side of I-35. When your looking at a hotel PM me and ill let you know if its a decent area or not. as for partying when i was going downtown a couple of years ago the best places were usually the smaller bars on 6th street. i heard the clubs on the warehouse district are nice too. try Vicci, my friends that dont have a child and arent married like that one, lol. stay away from pretty much any 18+ club or any club that is advertised on hot93.3

You'll be fine in Austin south of Round Rock, LOL. Plenty of places to stay that are decent and in fine parts of town south of downtown even.

I ended up getting two tickets on Stub Hub. They are in section 121 - corner of the endzone - 14th row. With the service fee and shipping, it totalled $850. The Longhorn tickets were $165.00/ea. + service fee ... totalled abourt $400. Too much, but I really wanted to be there at both games and this is a once in a lifetime trip for my son & I, a real male bonding weekend!!! Thanks for the tips on where to stay. Anybody got tips on where to stay in Dallas? How far is the airport from Arlington and the new stadium? Am I better off staying near the stadium or the airport area? or is another area better?

i dont know about that. all the hotels along I-35 from Pville to airport blvd are known for their prostitution and crack activity. and from downtown to about slaughter its pretty ghetto. Id stay away from it. FOR SURE! stay away from east austin!!
