So if my math is correct, Romo is...

1/4 Mexican
1/4 German
1/4 Polish
1/8 Italian
1/8 Irish

Ultimately... the only fraction that matters is 1/4-back :D

lol @ that distinction, when italian and polish and irish and german are all the same thing, mexico is a country of origin for his family and likely the lineage continues into native mexican indians and perhaps spanish decent. Its kind of silly to dismiss mexican because he was born here, you don't do that with any other part of his heritage. I am not being rude with this, but that distinction between chicano and mexican has always bothered me when that is never even considered with any other heritage country.

Actually what happens is that there are many hispanics born in the US, who are a american as anyone else who are sick and tired of people asking them if they just recently moved the america, just because of the hispanic last name.

That's why most americans of hispanic descent are against illegal immigration. People think that because of their hispanic last name that they are here illegally. That's why the distinction.

It should not matter, but many folks find it necessary to bring it up..........that's why this thread is here.

I am a teacher in Tennessee and I have a friend who teaches in Texas, near Austin. We have noticed that more Mexican Americans and Mexican Citizens are supporting the Dallas Cowboys. I realize that the team has a large base of Hispanic fans, but the team is attracting more fans due to Romo.

One of my students is proud of her hertiage and will tell anyone about it. She can identify with singers and sports figures who share her heritage.

Also, business reporters have mentioned that Romo can reach an audience that P. Manning cannot reach. I have a BA in journalism and worked in the field before I went to school for a MAT to be a teacher.

Well my name is Von Kunz and that is almost as german as it gets but I am only 1/8th german on my fathers side. The name has nothing to do with it. A name is a name, I am also irish less irish then german but I am irish so If I where to name my daughter a very irish name would it make her any more Irish? No she would have a Irish name but still be the same amount of irish no matter what I name her.

ugh... maybe you failed to understand what I meant..... I meant it as, he may only be so much hispanic background in his blood but only looking at his name it shows that his family takes pride in their background..... again I based that solely on the indication I got from his name, like I said originally.

Hmm, could it be because San Antonio is primarly Hispanic that you noticed more Hispanics on the videos?

Mexican Americans as well as Mexican Citizens have allways supported the Dallas Cowboys.
They really have. Remember when the Cowboys played a pre-season game in Mexico City several years ago? The crowd was huge and it was almost all Cowboys fans.

Imagine it now. Especially with Rom as the QB. Wow.

I will dig my key into the side of your pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carve my name into your leather seats...
I' take a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slash a hole in all 4 tires...

That's how Willie would have written it if he was crankin' out plays today... LOL...

I have almost the same make up. However I have a larger percentage of Mexican and German.

I'd say what my dad's nickname for me is in regards to that, because Romo would qualify for it too. But I'm afraid it might offend some...

Much has been made about Tony Romo being of Mexican heritage. Did a goggle on him and found out the following. It's funny, Romo is the same kind of American as we all are -- of mixed varied heritage.

On his father's side:

Romo's half Mexican; 1/4 Italian & 1/4 Irish

On his mother-s side:

His mother, Joan, is of German/Polish descent.

In other words, Tony's a mixed breed just like every American.

But of course, with Jerry Jones and the NFL anxious to gain entry (make big bucks) into the Hispanic Community not only in the U.S. but throughout Mexican and the rest of Central/South America, Romo's success couldn't have happened at a better time. He'll be the poster boy for Jerry's entire merchandise marketing scheme.

Hmmm. I wonder if MBIII's background contains any Hispanic lines? Just kidding.

I wonder if Jethro:eek:: supports the Trans Texas Corridor? Maybe just maybe he's the mastermind behind it.

Romo is american. End of story.

Tired of this hyphenated crap. I don't go around telling anyone I'm German-American. Screw germany. I can care less how many of my "ancestors" came from germany, france, spain, italy, etc... screw all those countries. I'm an AMERICAN, a citizen of the greatest country on earth. Adding another country to that only belittles america IMO.

You want to call him a hispanic american? I've got zero problem with that (although he's got alot more then just hispanic in him). You want to honor one of the countries that your ancestors are from? Fine by me, but leave it out of the equation when you tell someone what country you're from.

There was once a time when people were proud to be americans.

Telling people how to define who they are or how to define their identities belittles THEM. People have every right to honor, respect, and hold on to those aspects of their background they find important. Frankly, the reason this country is, as you put it, "the greatest country on earth," is because of the diversity of the people and the richness all those different backgrounds bring.

Yao Ming brought over 1 billion new viewers to the NBA market.

I think Jerry Jones should use his top round draft picks on someone from China and India, hype them up.

Can you imagine the revenue generated from the sales of a 2 billion new Cowboy jerseys? Though he may need a crack anti-counterfeiting team.

I understood that because HE doesn't care where he came from that others should do the same. Then he wrapped himself in the flag and sang God Bless America, so I stopped listening.

Yeah, that's the hard part. I'm sure Jerry can find someone who can fly, leap houses, and dance on water like in the movies. :)
