How in the heck does TIKI get 200 plus yards rushing with his offensive line all banged up and JJ barely rushes for anything at all last week.

What is our problem in the rushing game?

if you notice when we ran straight up at KC they stopped us like they did against NY Today.... when we ran counters we picked up most of our yards and so did the Giants.... We run to much power and not enough counters and outside....IMO

And sadly- even as banged up as the Giant O line is- they are still better then ours.
ANd that is really sad.

Tiki's a better runningback right now, and their offensive line is playing better. HOW they're playing better with all of their injuries, I dunno.

I think KC was expecting an easy game with all the injuries and weren't ready for what showed up....

What's sad is, Tiki is the guy Julius should be. Julius is almost a carbon copy of Tiki -- and last year he actually ran like him.

I just pray for no JJ injuries next year. :(

BP cannot coach them when they are injured!

JJ will be back but I blieve that ankle is still not 100%. Those "high ankle springs" are extremely difficult for a running back to return from due to all the sharp cuts a runner likee JJ requires.

I am talking about two hands on the ball all the time; I am talking about not cutting back and looking for holes when there is none where the play is desgined to go; I am talking about all the changes in his STYLE this year from last year.

Our line is clearly a weakness and eventually will be our downfall this year. It's an obvious reality.

Reality is not only sometimes funny......but it hurts sometimes as well. ;)

It's not so hard to figure out. The Giants went out and got Kareem McKenzie to play RT and we wasted a draft pick on Pettitti. Now, the Jets who let McKenzie go are struggling to run the ball after CMart had a tremendous season last year. The Giants also got Burress which along with Toomer gives them 2 big receivers to block in the running game.

Our OL hasn't opened up running lanes for our backs all year long. Sure they did adequate job against a few teams like Chargers, Cards, Detroit & KC but were poor against most of the other teams. OL also weren't consistent enough in the pass blocking and we gotta make some changes there if we are to more forward.

Our defense will be fine next year with rookies have 1 year experience under their belt & participating in the offseason weight conditioning program. They, along with the vets (and 1-2 players we bring in on defense), will then be in the 2nd year of the 3-4 defense which allows Parcells to move this team from the basic system to more complex 3-4 motion, etc.

I will be extremely happy if JJ becomes a back of Barber's quality. What is encouraging though, is that it took Barber several years to hit his stride. We can afford to be patient with JJ and we're lucky to have a quality back like MBIII as well.

Question, tho. Didn't it take Tiki 4 years to get to where he is. He is the better all around back, right now. But I don't believe he was in his 2nd year in the league.

Just a look at their respective stats in their first two years.

Tiki
1997
12 games played
69 starts
136 atts
511 yards
1998
16 games played
4 started
52 att
166 yards
It took him til his 4th year where he began to put up some yards.

Julius
8 games played
7 starts
197 att
819 yards
10 games played
9 starts
196 atts
685 yards
I guess my point and this is not really addressing you CL. It's just why we can't remember Julius is still a young player playing on a bad wheel. With the type of injury he had, we still can't properly judge what he can do. That said I'm ok w/Marion Barber doing his thing. He's a good player and I like what he's done this year.

But I'm like u CL, I really hope Julius doesn't have any injuries next year. But imagine the training camp battle between a healthy more seasoned Barber and Julius... woohoo... Should be a good one..

What? I don't understand this at all. He was a 6th round pick not a 1st. I think he has done an amazing job all things considered this year.

Oh, I haven't written Julius off or judged him already... I just think that in those last six games (or however many it was) last year, Julius ran just like Tiki does now. Julius still has the same talent he had last year; he's just not healthy. Next year I expect him to be the same game-breaking back we saw last year.

Think big picture. Drafting efficiency. We probably could have gotten him in free agency and used that 6th rounder on something else. They did the same on Crayton last year, he's a good player, but we could have gotten him in free agency. You're supposed to make your draft picks count because they are precious. See Henson. He can't beat out a guy we got as a udfa qb, hence, we threw away a third rounder this year that we could have spent on a quality rt or wr or cb. Efficient drafting means that you build up depth because all of your players can play or nearly all. What did we get in 2004, maybe 2 players, and Crayton was a qb/wr/kr from an itty-bitty school, who would have been available as a udfa, because he had no position.
