On Saturday afternoon.....is their any doubt Carp is going to be parked in front of a TV watching his Alma mata.

I hope in some way the Buckeyes add a little extra motivation for Carpenter. He's got a national stage, against the most efficient offense in the past decade to have a coming out party.

I'll be watching Bobby every time he's on the field.

I applaud Greg "almost there" Ellis for conforming this past off-season, but if that was the last time we saw Ellis in a Cowboys uniform then the entirety of his tenure with the Cowboys on the field has not lived up to the value expected from an 8th overall pick.

Hopefully Carpenter becomes an impact player.

That google image search you just did for "Little Bobby Ripping Shirt Off" is gonna send up some red flags on the monitoring system.

I will be watching Bobby close, too. It should be fun to see. I liked that he wasn't getting physically dominated or running himself out of the play in his very limited action on sunday. He'll have a heck of a test in coverage against their TEs, who seem to just always be open and available.

Yeah I was also impressed with the limited showing. I gotta admit a had a grin on my face when I saw Bobby with his hand on the ground.

I wonder if Jim Burt (again), and Bobby's dad, Rob will be on the sidelins this week.

I'm sure Carpenter will be watching the OSU game as well, but I hope he is spending a lot of time this week watching film of Ryan Diem of the Colts considering that it the guy he will lineup across from. As for motivation he don't need to watch his old school he should be pumped knowing he is about to get playing time this weekend in the NFL for his new team

This is the kind of statement that strikes me as so ridiculous I can't believe people buy into it.

Does anyone really EXPECT that every high draft pick will "live up to" his draft status?

Does anyone really take the draft as an exact science and consider a pick a disappointment if he turns out to be merely very good rather than great?

Considering all of the players who have been drafted even higher than Ellis who have totally bombed, it's incredibly unfair to single out a player who has had a very successful NFL career.

We may could have hoped for (not "expected") a little more, but we still got a very good player, which is a heck of a lot more than many teams have got with high draft picks.

I thought Ellis had the look of greatness before he broke his leg. When he came back, he played in the better than average range. Consistently and for years. Not bad!

I'm looking forward to seeing Carpenter.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Junior Glymph play - he seemed to have something. I'm thinking that he was cut mostly because there just wasn't room on the roster for him (and not because of a lack of ability or potential).

For this week I'd rather go with Al Singleton.

I want the most experienced players we have on the field vs Manning.

Yes. If not, then why do we have the draft. If teams didn't expect their high draft picks to live up to their draft status, then they would value them as much.

Yep, 31 teams (excluding the Skins):p: expect their draft picks to live up to their status. How one can ridicule the notion is beyond my comprehension.

It's not an exact science, but just because some player fail to translate their skills to the NFL doesn't excuse those who have proven they can play, but can't produce the value or production expect from their draft spot.

Ellis is OUR player, using the failures of other players to prop up Ellis's average career (based on his Draft value) is......ridiculous.

BS......what happened to accountability. who cares what other teams got. How would that have helped Ellis sack the QB instead of almost sacking the QB......... MO throughout his entire career.

Ellis was an average football player. He was a great teammate and leader but on the field he was never an impact player.

When the Cowboys draft a player in the 1st RD I expect alot, he shouldn't be given a pass because other players have failed.

Ellis proved he could play in this league, sadly his play never lived up to being the 8th overall pick.....as ridiculous as that might sound......it's fact.
