Time for some internal damage control

Romo loves Murray. So does Garrett, Witten, Dez, and that entire offensive line. I'm sure the defensive unit has fond feelings, too. Murray is a Class A person, and a great teammate. He was a model citizen and employee his entire time here. And his versatility as a blocker, runner, and receiver were valuable.

But not paying the good football player like a Hall of Famer was the right move.

Phily isn't exactly paying Murray like a HOF either. 5yr/42 mil. 8 mil a year.

Well, we sure know what the organization ISN'T anymore...to the chagrin of some here, they aren't a free-spending, wheeling and dealing, fly by the seat of their britches one. Man, the Cowboys and Eagles are certainly a study of contrasting styles this offseason. Kinda weird.
JJ and Garrett are not on par with the genious Chip. We should give up and give Philly the division title.

I think players understand this is a business more than a lot around here.

Tell me zone members.... When your friend at works leaves for a better gig or more money... Do you walk around "In a haze?" Or do you congratulate them, let them know how much you'll miss them, promise to stay in touch and get on with your business?

These are adults.

Again fans get more bent out of shape than professionals. By far. It's awkward and embarrassing how some have acted the last 18 hours.

I know I walk around at work in a haze even when my friend has not left for a better job so I am probably not a good person to answer this

Maybe it's the Cowboys Kool-Aid talking, but I sure can't see how Philadelphia has gotten better with all their moves/spending. Most of their moves, IMO, have been break-even or worse and in the process they've spent a lot of $$ and given away a couple of draft picks.

I guarantee you that is not the case. The NFL is a business and the players all understand Chip got crazy and vasly overpaid Murray.

You think there is any damage control going on in Detroit over Suh and his deal with Miami and the players being in a bit of a daze?

Uh yeah, Murray's deal was right in line with the deal Suh got. NO player deserves what Suh got but Murray deserved what he got. I just wish this organization was intelligent enough to be the one to pull the trigger.

Restraint is a good thing in free agency. The lack of it has hamstrung this team for too long. What the front office has done thus far is understandable, and it deserves patience and trust given recent history.

However, that's not to say some damage control isn't in order over DeMarco Murray.

Romo loves Murray. So does Garrett, Witten, Dez, and that entire offensive line. I'm sure the defensive unit has fond feelings, too. Murray is a Class A person, and a great teammate. Still, I'm sure some heads are spinning. Players are wondering, probably in a bit of a daze, why Murray is gone, along with Carter, Harris, Durant, and Parnell, before any meaningful signings have taken place. Murray, especially, was a big part of last year's 13-5 season.

Now, Jerry and Stephen have some explaining to do, not to us, but to the players and coaches. Without giving away their entire plan, they need to reassure this squad that there is a plan in place. I'm sure the vision will be clearer come July, but there's no need for anything internal to boil over, and certainly over the airwaves.

This is fascinating offseason as we all watch in wonder. This organization has changed, although we're still not quite sure what it's changed into.

great professional but there have been a lot of reports from the beat guys over the years that murray can be a little standoffish. he's not a big charming personality like dez. i don't think there will need to be much damage control.

Yep, it is definitely the cool aid in your case

Put it down

Not me. I'm glad he's gone. That's what I wanted, a younger, fresher back to go with this young offensive line. (Although Peterson intrigues me.)

Players know what kind of beating Murray took last year. They like him and wanted that rewarded. Dallas did the right thing.

Right on. I'm with you. I'm sure friends and players are disappointed and by this time tomorrow those feeling will be forgotten.
How sure? Uhh... pretty sure. Not entirely. But pretty...

The others were playing the song "WE ONLY JUST BEGUN."
That made me think of that movie At the Mountains of Madness and the beginning where the guy is placed into a looney bin and the inmates start singing that song.
The zinger was him complaining "Not the Carpenters!" and the director was John Carpenter.

I might watch that tonight...

I don't think the FO has to explain anything to anyone.
No, they do not. The days of handing out extensions like Oprah does cars are over and if the players cannot understand that they do not belong.

As much as i am not heartbroken about any of the players we lost. I have to wonder what the fo plan is on replacing these lost FAs? You can't replace all of them through the draft. Its one thing to not be active in free agency, but it's another to not be active and let your guys walk.

I get that you don't want to overpay like in the past, but this team has a 2-3 year window and then it's full on rebuild mode. I think there would be a little more urgency on the FO side of things.

Are they really going to waste the last few years of Witt and Romo? I guess I'm confused by the seemingly nonchalant appapproach they are taking this offoffseason.

We are paying for the bad contracts of Carr, Ware, and Ratt now.

I'm not sure I wouldn't mind getting 2 first for Dez right now.

I completely agree and I have absolutely no issue with this approach at all.

Players understand. It's not like he was traded or cut. He left for more money. What most players aspire towards

Yup, very reasonable. And I have no idea why so many around here don't see that. It's alright, the idiocy of this will rear it's ugly head soon enough. This organization can fall back asswards into a great situation and still screw it up. I have to admit, I've been a Cowboys fan all my life but this **** is straining my loyalty. I could never root for another team but I don't have to like ANY team, particularly one with the spoiled rich son of an owner calling these idiotic shots. What has Stephen Jones EVER done to merit his status? He is the son of the owner, that's it. And believe me, I've been front and center for the ridiculous fiasco that just took place with the Denver Nuggets. These *****' guys were simply born into the position, they have NEVER proven themselves on their own.

Stephen Jones is a flippin' fool.

I thought John Carpenter should have put that song in the movie Vampires he made about 10 years ago. Could have played while master vampire killed hotel room full of people.:lmao2:

That's a pretty good idea. I never really liked that movie, although I am a huge John Carpenter fan.
That would have been trippy to watch like that.
