There was no doubt they had all intentions of throwing our #1 pick at a defensive player this year.........It was going to be Barr/Donald or Shazier until they were all gone, and then probably still D.Lawence also unless Barr was the pick...............the draft didn't fall the way they needed, cannot argue with the OLine pick at all at this stage..........we at least have one unit that is appearing to be NFL dominate, a mediocre Giants team won SBowls with 1 dominate group--their DLine.

Gotta think they rotate Selvie on the RDE at times, last year preseason he was effective from there, but also play games with a Wilber/Carter combo up/down with positional flexibility between the two on passing downs. Run downs--Mincy can give you snaps to rotate thru.

And, to say that a DE having to take on a tackle on every play takes less of a beating than a 3-4 OLB who has coverage responsibilities where he would play in space from time to time is inaccurate.

This is absolutely correct. There are posters who said this when we made the switch to a 43, but most people only bought into the fact that he would be rushing the passer every play without considering how much more of a beating Ware would take. Granted, he was injured as well when we were still in a 34, but switching to DE after an all pro career as an OLB certainly didn't make things better.

They made a bad situation worse when they switched schemes. I realize the owner needed his yearly scapegoat but that move set the defense back years and the reason they gave for the move was about as idiotic as I've ever heard.

But I thought a 43 was going to take us back to the glory days of the Dallas Cowboys defense? I read it here

Yeah. Who cares what Ware had to say about it.

Ware isn't going to throw management under the bus. The switch had been made, and he stood by the decision. What was he going to do, say he doesn't like the switch?

Cowboys defenders that can make it on another NFL team: Henry Melton, Jeremy Mincey, Rolando McClain, Terrell McClain, Barry Church, Brandon Carr, Anthony Hitchens, and Justin Durant; and that's just off the top of my head. This defense isn't a talent drain. There's just no superstars. But a player doesn't have to be a superstar to be able to play.

Go back to the 1990's. How did guys like Jimmie Jones, Tony Casillas, Robert Jones, Dixon Edwards, Larry Brown, and James Washington do after they left Dallas? Yet here, they were productive starters on a dynasty.

Re all the journeymen (and rusty players) you mentioned, I guess you gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith-a-faith.

but, pls. the Jimma era players you mentioned played great for us. They were mein heroes. It pains me to think of those guys who hep build a dinasty in the same post with the journeymen and the rusty players you mentioned together in your post. Half some decensy, man!;)

In the real world, you compare risk to probable outcomes and try to make a good decision whether or not to carry on.

There is no risk here. It's just people being drama queens.

i agree. what could possibly go wrong with the defense this season?

Huh? Huh?

K. Discard any remarks he made as not true because it doesn't serve the agenda. Gotta be BS. Right.
