Time to practice Collins at RT

So, playing in the SEC and not giving up a sack or blown assignment....

He was injured & they knew, just thought they'd see if he could handle it... Green is twice the RT as Collins

I hope you are right about Green long term, but I could care less about him not giving up a sack in the SEC. This is the NFL. In preseason practices, before the hip injury, he was not performing well. Some reports had him physically being manhandled.

No moving OLs. Unless it's to put Collins in for Leary to let Leary rest through the bye week. He was fairly compromised on Sunday. Overall, the OL just needs to be better. That mostly comes with fewer injuries, fewer shake ups, and playing time. We don't have time for experiments right now.

If I could spell I could be a sports writer lol
That's seems to be the only qualification some have

very few from what I have read. Amazing how spell check seems to be something they have never heard of from all the blatant mistakes I read every day.

The boys should have had Collins activated and replaced Leary once it was clear he was not playing that well. But this team bends over backwards in its treatment of vets coming back from injury.

wasn't collins rated as a top T coming out of college this year?

Named second-team All-America by The A.P. as a senior in 2014. Won Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the top offensive lineman in the SEC. Started all 13 games at left guard as a sophomore, then started 26 games at left tackle his junior and senior seasons. Was voted team captain and was recipient of the Charles McClendon Award (most outstanding player on the team). LSU coaching staff credited him with 222.5 knockdown blocks in his 45-game career. Was second-team All-SEC as a junior, honorable mention All-SEC as a sophomore. Was a Parade All-American out of Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, La., and ranked as the No. 1 recruit from Louisiana by Rivals.

It was definitely a consideration. I thought they might. Ultimately, I think they needed that extra roster spot for the extra RB they activated when they should have just sat Randle or McFadden. It was obvious, though, that Leary wasn't up to speed and probably should have waited at least another week, if not through the bye. Let's hope they don't make the same mistake again this week.

They're not going to move a rookie OG to RT at this point in the season. Not with Free playing at least at the level he's playing at. They'd be more like to move Martin out, I think, and keep Collins inside if they were really in trouble. But RT hasn't really been the problem on the OL so far. The frustrating thing is that all of them, and the TEs and RBs, are taking turns with small execution errors that are turning decent plays into bad plays. The OL overall hasn't been great, but they're not awful. But those minor mistakes are keeping up from staying ahead of the chains or are stalling drives when protections get compromised. It adds up to make things harder on a backup QB who's not good enough to overcome them. Then our defense can't hold when the pressure gets on them for a full 4 quarters.

I think the changes that need to be made are important, but for the most part, they're pretty small. Everybody just needs to get healthier, focus a little bit more, and they need to find a way to get it done where they're not quite right now. My guess is that we'll see some improvement up front coming out of the bye. It's just a little later in the season than you might have liked, and it's costing us in some very winnable games.

I hear ya but iwe are not talking about a guy with no experience at the tackle position.

Maybe he was not performing well because he was injured.

Yeah, he's played it in college. The knock on him at camp was that he seemed a bit slow-footed at tackle. In fairness to him, though, they only put him there early and then moved him permanently inside to OG quickly. Maybe part of the slowness was getting used to everything, including the play book.

That said, the fact that they moved him permanently in camp makes it pretty clear they have no inclination to play him at RT this year. Maybe we see it a bit more next year, but for now, it's Free/Brown (Good Grief).

OK, if WR Street's ankle is better they could let him replace Free which would still be an improvement.

Well Free is old maybe he will hit his stride in week 11.

Very good point
I don't expect much from green this year even if he gets back and he is a guy who can really benefit from an off season weight program
He should be able to work on his upper body now since his hip was the injury
But for tackles, technique is the real quality they must have
Strength is great but technique is the real thing that players need

I don't foresee him returning. For a rookie to miss all of training camp and they come back to contribute after surgery, I just don't see it, especially at that position.
