Tired of the "busted coverages" business

There was one busted coverage. The pass to Williams. The pass to Austin was a great back shoulder throw at tight coverage that Austin turned into a TD. (I even heard Bradshaw say this - "Underthrown ball, that's what Romo does"....***? Did he ever play QB? Did they not invent the back shoulder fade until he retired? *****.) The pass to Crayton, Romo got Talib and Piscatelli to bit on a pump fake.

Not busted coverages, great plays.

I'm not sure the Williams pass was busted coverage. Crayton's was if you consider biting hard on a pump fake busted coverage. If only Romo had Ben Rapelsburger's pump fake.

I don't, obviously. :)

They played it right, Romo just fooled them both. It's not like Talib released him thinking he had deep help and Piscatelli was covering the deep middle.

Didn't Bradshaw say that when they're step for step you're SUPPOSED to throw it behind him, and that's what Romo did?

I don't think Bradshaw was taking a stab at Romo at all, I think he was saying exactly what you're saying.

Who cares if it was busted coverage...we won off of their mistakes...the Steelers won that SB on busted coverage also do they not get the recognition they deserve?

I don't think so, but maybe I misheard.

Exactly. There are busted coverages in every NFL game. The question is whether the QB can see them and has the time to exploit them.

It feels to me like everyone was waiting to say "See, Romo is nothing without T.O.", and now that he's had one of his best days ever, they want to poo-poo it with "well it was just busted coverages."

Did anybody realise that Romo was gonna hit Crayton on that TD pass before the snap? The fake to Witten was part of the play to get the safety to hesitate for one split second.

Pre-snap read: Romo sees man coverage on Crayton...audibles the fake pass to the flat to Witten.

Snap: Romo pump fakes to Witten, who is double covered...sees Crayton behind the safety and throws a good pass in stride for a TD.

If you don't recognize that this play was designed as such then you have alot to learn from your quarterbacking chair...

Romo missed a few passes here and there, especially early on, but overall was great. This is what great QBs do -- they take what they're given.

Seriously, who cares what the announcers say. They are usually wrong a good % of the time. The only thing you should care about is what you see and what actually happened.

The throw to Austin was world-class. There was no where else he could throw it.

I couldn't imagine having to talk on television off the cuff like that. Half the time when we get a much needed first down, for some inexplicable reason I jump up and scream touchdown. Or heaven forbid we get a safety, inevitably I'll jump up and yell TOUCHBACK!!! Then realize what the **** I'm saying and sit the *** down.

In other words, that the play by play guys get things wrong all the time is no surprise to me.

Exactly.

Dallas had a couple and the Bucs couldn't convert.

Like you say, it happens every game.

Every completion of every game is a busted coverage to me. Show me one defense designed to allow a WR to catch a pass. They are designed to prevent completions so everytime there is a completion someone either busted their assignment or got beat which I consider busting the coverage as well.

You better believe it. Lots of bitter Cowboy hating talking heads and opposing fans this evening.

Nice big **** sandwich for them today. Take a bite.

Be quiet. No one wants to hear facts.

We want to hear about the big, bad media hating on the Cowboys.

Tony Dungy once said it best, games in the NFL are usually lost, not won. Meaning that it's usually a case of the team that wins does it because the opposing team made more mistakes, like busted coverages, etc. But that happens because the other team is trying to deceive defenses and that helps cause busted coverages.

That stuff happens.

What I'm concerned about is the lack of using Bennett, Felix, putting forth a rushing attack and how disorganized we look at times. Not to forget that Garrett still has this 'wait and see what he defense does, then make halftime adjustments' plan which gets really annoying.
