The media has screamed for the last month that we're going to have problems replacing the explosiveness of TO. Romo then goes out and has a career day in week 1.

And now you mean to tell me that they're trying to chalk that up to "busted coverages" all day long?? I'm shocked. Here I thought Emmitt was going to admit he was wrong after one week.

Did anybody realise that Romo was gonna hit Crayton on that TD pass before the snap?

No, but I could see the Roy Williams play coming. He took off so fast after the ball was snapped that I had a feeling he was the intended receiver. When Romo let the ball go, I knew it was for Roy. I had no idea it would result in a TD after splitting the defense, though. Nice.

I don't get the busted coverage remarks either. If the defense misses assignments and gives up a big play then that means the offense did their job. Any big passing play can be look at as a busted coverage the way the media is talking...I doubt any defensive coordinator plans for their defense to get beat deep by a pass play but it happens all the time, so the coverage got busted.

I think when you see that many 'busted coverages' in one day you have to give credit to the offensive coordinator.

I've been as critical as anyone of Garrett last year, but unless Tampa is utterly incompetent, you have to give some credit to the Red for helping to create the confusion.

Emmitt: "Romo done had a good game because the defense done mess up the play. If the defense ain't get beat deep then Romo don't make the play. Anybody play good when the defense is confused. I'm confused, and I don't even play football no more."

Bradshaw,"When two players are running stride for stride, underthrow it. That's what he does. Romo does by the way. Austin takes it from 42 yds out."

Again, please don't let the facts get in the way of "omg, espn/media hates us. Commence emergency ruing."

Didn't Bradshaw say that when they're step for step you're SUPPOSED to throw it behind him, and that's what Romo did?

I don't think Bradshaw was taking a stab at Romo at all, I think he was saying exactly what you're saying.

yes that is what Bradshaw said.

Let people talk about what it was all they want. Busted coverage, great plays, tricking the defense, whatever they want to call it the great thing is the TDs at the end of them all count the same and the W's they lead to all count the same as well.

Neil Smith: That's a salient point, but let me offer a rebuttal....

It feels to me like everyone was waiting to say "See, Romo is nothing without T.O.", and now that he's had one of his best days ever, they want to poo-poo it with "well it was just busted coverages."

Some do, for sure.

But you're right -- the truth is, no defense can cover everything on the field. One of Tony's best strengths is his ability to buy time and see the whole field. He sees guys coming free that most QBs never would.

Was reading the comments at the start of this thread. Terry Bradshaw making fun of anyone at the QB position is comedy to me. Did you ever see that guy play? If it werent for WORLD CLASS recievers on his team getting hung out to dry by his crap throws and still hanging on to them, He would have been a nobody.

Bradshaw developed into a great QB. Damn it. He sure wasn't one to start with.

Like I said, I might have misheard. Obviously I did.

Exactly.

Dallas had a couple and the Bucs couldn't convert.

Like you say, it happens every game.

A lot of the Cowboys coverage issues were related to not having a pass rush. They hit Leftwich, but mostly only after he held the ball for five plus seconds.

Who cares if it was busted coverage...we won off of their mistakes...the Steelers won that SB on busted coverage also do they not get the recognition they deserve?

Exactly. There are busted coverages in every NFL game. The question is whether the QB can see them and has the time to exploit them.

Seriously, who cares what the announcers say. They are usually wrong a good % of the time. The only thing you should care about is what you see and what actually happened.

Exactly! Before the game all the mediots were praising Tampa's #2 (last year) defensive ranking against the pass. Whatever....

This just in...Everytime Manning or Brady hit big plays in the passing game it's because the defense busted their assignment and sucked. It has nothing to do with them. You hear that NFL? Stop paying QBs any kind of money cause they're really not good, or important, they only make plays cause the defense screwed up.
