[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]HOUSTON -- Nancy Neville Adams, who co-owned the Tennessee Titans with her husband Bud Adams, has died. She was 84.

The Titans announced that she died Sunday night in Houston but did not release the cause.

Nancy Adams was also the vice chair of the Titans board. She continued to live in Houston after the Oilers relocated to Tennessee and became the Titans.

"I am deeply saddened to report that following a brief illness, I have lost my beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy," Bud Adams said. "She was the love of my life and we shared so many great memories together. I will miss her greatly, but know how lucky we were to have each other's company for so long."

Active in charitable efforts, she and her husband established the Titans Foundation in 1999 with an opening gift of $500,000. Recently, the couple donated $500,000 to the Baptist Hospital of Nashville to fund an expansion project.

They've often helped out financially in the wake of natural disasters, contributing $100,000 after Tropical Storm Allison hit Houston in 2001 and teaming with the NFL to donate $200,000 following a 1998 tornado in Nashville.

She was born in Mississippi and attended the University of Kansas, where she met her husband.

Along with Bud, she is survived by daughters Susie Smith and Amy Strunk and seven grandchildren. A son, Kenneth Stanley Adams, III, is deceased.

A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at River Oaks Baptist Church in Houston. A private entombment will be held before the memorial service.

I have to come clean - I was an oilers fan till they left me. It was then that I realized that I could never root for the team that left me... Thus began my Cowboy fandamonium...

I can never forgive Bud for tearing my heart out the way he did... But for his loss - today I put those feelings aside and wish the Adams family the best.

Never? I sure hope that's not true.

Anyway, the city of Houston (maybe not the fans) did not treat the Oilers well those last several years. Adams absolutely wanted his team in Texas.

I do wish the NFL had a rule that all teams must pay at least 50% of stadium construction. If the city later wants to own the whole thing, then vote on it, but footing the whole bill up fron is not fair. Of course, Adams was not at all looking for the city to do that.

And yes, RIP Ms Adams!

Uhmm, not quite accurate. The city loved the team, but didn't like Bud Adams. All related to the fact that they'd just paid to have the Astrodome renovated, but Bud saw the future of all the new stadiums and wanted a new one. Lines were drawn and he took his ball and team and went to Tennessee. Wish the city had fought harder to keep their history like the Browns did.

Yes, indeed. 62 years of love is an amazing feat.

I think Houston (city, not fans) pulled a Laura Miller of sorts...not totally though. They wanted at best a piece meal solution to a long term problem.

Of course Miller would have preferred no city money period for ANY pro sports team.

Wish the city had fought harder to keep their history like the Browns did.

100% agree.
