Is There Enough Talent In Dallas To Make A Super Bowl Run?

The one thing the Dallas Cowboys haven’t lacked in recent years is talent. Top-tier players have littered the roster for a while now, but things have not come together to get them anywhere beyond an 8-8, mediocre record… at least not for the last three years. So as some claim doom and gloom of the Cowboys, while others think there’s enough talent to make some noise in the NFC East, let’s take a look at exactly where the team stands in terms of star talent.

Starting at the quarterback position, Tony Romo has fallen suit with how the Dallas Cowboys are view by the entire nation – you either like him or you don’t. There doesn’t really seem to be any kind of middle ground on the subject. In my eyes he is the best chance the Cowboys have to contend in the near future. But at 34 years old, his time is starting to run out in terms of his ability to perform at a high enough level to contend for a Super Bowl. If Dallas can continue putting the right pieces around him, this team will have the ability to get there with Romo at the helm – like it or not.

The offensive line and running game is quietly becoming this team’s strong point. With three first-round picks scheduled to be on the line this year (Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin), and a running back that can be flat-out dominant when he’s healthy (DeMarco Murray) the Cowboys will be able to control the line of scrimmage and the play clock. This is definitely good news considering how questionable the Dallas defense is projected to be. All of this will hinge on how often pass-happy coordinator Scott Linehan will allow this strength to be utilized...

I would rather focus on just getting to the playoffs. The super bowl seems too far away at this point.

humm no they do not, not on D that is, not even close, and one bad hit on Romos back and well the O will just emplode

I agree with you completely...They might hold their own if the defense can move up from the bottom of the pile but
they are not close right now to compete for a SB. Another reason is that I don't see any Belicheats on this team
to overcome the lack of backup talent when players get hurt.

Yes we definitely have enough talent to make a superbowl run. The offense on paper looks like its gonna be a top 3 and there's no reason i see that it won't. There is no way in hell that the Defense is gonna be trash like it was last year. We have much better depth and better players all around. Book me on this, we are making the playoffs this year, and once we get in there watch the magic happen.

Now, that's the ticket...

The key to the Cowboys having any chance at the playoffs (I'm not even thinking about the Super Bowl) is running the ball. We've got the line to do it now. We've got to keep defenses from getting free hits on Romo, who's recovering from back surgery, and keep Romo from having to win everything by himself - which increases his legacy both as a comeback quarterback and as a choke artist.

Running the ball will consume clock and keep our talent-deprived defense off the field and keep them relatively fresh throughout a game. We've got to play boring football.

If we resort to a wing-and-sling offense, we will amass double digit loses and won't sniff the playoffs and will likely be looking up at the other teams in the NFC East.

Hopefully, our coaches have learned this by now. I'm not sure, but we shall see.

If we have a shot to make a run, we have to begin with picking the starting 7 on defense and give them 75% of the reps in TC and about the same for Wheeden

I've seen worse teams win the Superbowl.

This team expects to lose though and that is the culture that Garrett has created in his tenure.

We lack confidence and I imagine we will once again lack the strategy as well.

Well this bit of "news" was taken from the Landry Hat. Don't they have fans writing articles for them? It's a fluff piece most likely written by a well meaning fan. Take it for what it is. Nice thoughts about the offense not really mentioning the issues with the defense that could derail anything the team tries to do. Not news but an editorial from a fan.
