I agree. Owens throws Garrett or Romo under the bus when ever he feels like it. Now, Romo, after the last two games, has taken shots at Garrett or the offensive schemes after the last two games. Romo may be right, but he has to be careful with what he says in public, or he becomes Owens.

I think Newman saw the ship sinking in the lockerroom, and called out Wade Phillips in public after Phillips called him out for one play that was the very least of our problems in Pittsburgh.

Newman simply called for players and coaches in the organization to be accountable for their play or job. You can debate whether he should have said it in public or not; however, the message needed to be sent by someone, and it was. The Cowboys won the next game, and Newman was on the horse trailor. He backed it up on the field by playing great football.

I think Newman was telling Phillips to take control of the team, and I think he was referring to players and coaches on the offensive side of the ball. The turnovers killed the Cowboys this year, and that is a fact.

Pure, wild speculation, but I'm starting to think that maybe the players do suspect the coaches of leaking parts of the story. Or that maybe there was some dissent on the coaching staff that never got reported. Newman's swipe at coaches being held accountable came after the incident, didn't it? And it would make sense that there might be some resentment on the defensive side of the ball with the perception that Jerry Jones asked Wade to take over the defense while Garrett is paid more and Jones's hand-picked successor to Wade.

It might be telling to see what changes, if any, happen with our coaching ranks this offseason. Beyond replacing Bruce Read, that is.

I almost wonder that, too, because I can't imagine why Newman said that. That wasn't like him at all.

I still wonder if any of it could be that there are "Wade's Guys" (Stewart, maybe Herring) and "Jerry/RJ Guys" (Houck, Campo). That's why the HC should be allowed to hire who he wants.

Or maybe TO just put that in Newman's head. Remember, TO accused Todd Haley of ratting him out back in the Parcells year, too.

No pun intended on the rat (salad). Did you ever notice that anytime anyone says "no pun intended", they totally intended to make a pun?

Who knows what was real?

First Werder said "inside sources" or "sources close the cowboys"

THEN... it was a "cowboys player"

TOO EASY to spin from one BS story "sources close to cowboys" to "cowboys player"

Bottom line: I dont know... you dont know... no one knows.

But if Werder made it up... HE KNOWS.

It was Brian Stewart. Did he not admit to being the rat...

We saw the play. Newman apologists can't change what happened, or end any discussion, when the video is so obvious.

Newman weakly folded in front of Buckhalter, waiting for his teammates to bring him down. It was a pathetic effort.

Open your eyes and quit making excuses for these losers.

What ever. He's the only player who had the speed to make a play on the ball. He did all he could. Fox had an up close replay of that play, from Newman's back, that showed he had good tackling technique and tried to trip the RB up as he cut away from him.

The NFL.com video shows Buckhalter cutting away from him as Newman arrived to try and get him.

It was a bang, bang play. It was do or die. Newman got there and had an angle, but Buckhalter cut away from him as Newman was in the air and diving for him.

LOL at waiting for the other Cowboys to make the play. They all got smoked. At least, Newman busted his tail, stuck his head in there, and tried to wrap up an exploding running back by diving. Newman would have made that play and tripped him up, but the back cut away from him as Newman arrived.

Open your eyes, and you will see the back cutting away from him. Newman had an angle, but the back had no other Cowboy player to worry about. He felt or saw Newman coming, and he cut away from his pursuit.

Indeed, it will be.

We did see Wade take over the defense. (I don't understand why he ever gave it over to begin with.) Plus, he took over special teams. Both units played much better, especially the defense. Losing McBriar hurt, and that was something Phillips couldn't control.

However, the turnovers and questionable game management by Garrett continued to rear its ugly head. One has to wonder why Wade just stood there while the offense continued to self-destruct at times.

It's like Chocolate Lab said, the offensive coordinator made more than the head coach. Did Wade have the power to over rule Garrett on things or calls? After all, Wade wanted Solari as offensive line coach, and Garrett wanted Houck. Who got there way.

Giving Garrett # 3 million, gave him a ton of power. It think it backfired. Garrett was basically an associate head coach and waiting to take over. Phillips seemed to have one arm tied behind his back. That's my opinion, anyway.

Curious timing by the Coward TNewman.

Had he dared say that before the last home game he would have been booed.
He waited until AFTER the last game.

chicken, chicken, TNew.

You can't be serious.

Santana Moss Shut Down. Huge INT and 4th down pass break up. He should have been on the horse trailor in that game.

He gave up one play on a fluke duck against the 49ers that he didn't see. They kicked a FG. Big whoopty-doo. That was a real solid game, and he was sore.

Deon Branch Shut Down. INT

Santonio Holmes: He gave up one big play when he peeked. You would have to go back and look at the tapes during 2003 or 2004 to see if that ever happened. Moss got him in the first game, so that is 2 since 2005 according to my memory. Other than the one play, Holmes didn't do much. The didn't even score on that play. Goalline stand.

Dominek Hixon Shut Down 2 INT Horse Trailor

Mark Clayton Shut down

Jackson McNabb made a perfect throw with Newman draped all over Jackson. Endzone flag

Donald Driver Shut down when Newman was on him.

Newman took the other team's best WR all over the field, and he gave up 3 plays. One was luck. One was on him. One was a perfect pass when the guy was blanketed.

Newman got 4 INTs when he came back after playing hurt. People want ints. Why doesn't he get more?

We'll when you are on the other team's best guy the entire game, you get more opportunities.

That is some great football.

On the nosey.

It was a bad recipe from the start when Jerry handed Garrett $3 million but never gave Wade an extension. We glossed over it, hoping it wouldn't matter, but I think we all figured in the back of our minds it could rear its head. Imagine the guy you supervise making more money than you. It's just a bad, strange formula. I thought handing Garrett the money was a brilliant stroke by Jerry, but always assumed he would compensate Wade as well to keep the working environment more, well, normal. But it never came.

And like you, I wonder how much control Wade has over Garrett. Based on the recaps I've read here today of Jerry's interview with Norm, it sounds like he basically said Wade knows he has to change and is confident he can, while Garrett doesn't need to change anything and is still the golden child. Again, strange.

I agree with you again. Newman had an abysmal game in his first game against Washington, gave up a terrible pass to Pittsburgh and I don't think played particularly well against Philly last week (no one did). And he gave up more passes than usual along the way, but by no means would I say he had a terrible season. Probably not as good as last year's, but the guy wasn't some scrub out there. Easily our best corner once he was healthy. The only real beef I had with his season was the fact we hand him a ton of money and he was hurt left and right.

It's funny how some of you guys love to hate on Terence Newman.

Again, go back and show me the evidence that Jason Witten is the mole.

I'm still waiting.

The crickets are chirping!

It's funny how this has turned into the bash Terence Newman thread.

You guys don't have a clue about what you are talking about.

The guy gives up 3 plays and has his two best games against the Commanders and Giants, and you guys are piling on.

Be haters of your "own team".

The very least you could do is get your facts straight.

Here's a clue.

Your aiming at the wrong guy, but go ahead. Show your football intelligence.

The teams would line up to Mexico wanting to get him.

When you are covering the best guy all over the field, you will be targeted a little more. They will take at least one shot at you deep in man coverage when you are on their best guy. You may give up a few more catches, but you also get the opportunites for big plays; and Newman had some really big plays this year. I don't think Newman gave up that many catches at all. If you noticed, he seemed to give up a shorter pass or intermediate pass very early in the game, and then he shut guys down.

He's my favorite player. ( Newman and Ware) You have to remember it was a fluke injury. A guy fell on him and caused him to get hurt in a non-contact drill.

Do you really thinK a guy who played with a broken jaw, broken ribs, bad ankle, helmet knocked off, ect... is the mole? Witten would do anything to win, and he wouldn't try to destroy the team. He is the ultimate team player.

If Jason Witten had a problem with Owens, he would go right to his face. Oh, wait. He did call him out on some route he ran. Also, he would have probably gone to Jerry Jones after he talked to Owens himself if he wanted to express his views to him.

Jason Witten saw constant double and triple teams at Tennesse during his junior year. He didn't say a word to the media while the big mouth, pre-madonna WR on the team (Kelly Washington) quit and wouldn't play anymore.

You see, Witten plays football and isn't selfish. He doesn't cry to the media about getting the ball after it was thrown to him 18 times.

Observations:

1. Witten is no coward, he has balls of titanium.

2. Newman got flat out raped by Desean Jackson, so he needs to shut the hell up.

3. Newman should have never gone on ESPN and aired dirty laundry, he should have shut the hell up.

4. Did I mention that Newman needs to shut the hell up.

That is all.

If I were the head coach, I would have handled the lockerroom snitch a bit differently, and nipped it in the bud.

A head coach with a sack would take all the players (every single one) out to the practice field and make them run wind sprints as a group until the snitch confesses. If no confession, keep sprinting until you get one, and deal with the situation on the spot.

Player's union getting upset about such tactics? Deal with that later. You can always ask for forgiveness.
