For my part, give me actions, not words. It's easy to say 'that's my quarterback.' Well, I guess it's also easy not to stab him in the back, but for whatever reason that skill somehow escaped TO his whole career. There's a reason a player that good could not find a home long-term with an NFL team.

Also count me in the minority that thinks it's a whole helluva lot hard to go on national tv as a grown *** man crying about how bad you feel for your qb. And then the qbs like welp ya win some ya lose some. Just saying imo t.o. gave a lot to this team. Give him due.

T.O. was the ultimate tease.

There were times when he was a GREAT teammate: the "that's my quarterback" presser, tutoring/mentoring younger receivers, setting a great example by working his butt off in practice, setting a great example by giving it his all (physically and emotionally) on game-day, inviting all his teammates to stuff off the field...

But the problem is his reputation preceded him, and so the media was lurking. He finally gave them what they wanted when he decided that Romo/Garrett/Witten didn't have HIS best interests in mind. Once that bridge was crossed, it was over. His strong influence/personality was sure to divide the team, and that's when it was clear that he had to go.

It's not that he's the worst guy in the world, or even the worst teammate. It's just that he plays the ultimate team sport and was far too strong of a personality to have public disagreements with the natural team leaders (QBs/coaches).

If he played basketball or a 1-on-1
sport he might have been looked at in a completely different way.

He got his due. In the form of a drawing on a cocktail napkin from Jerry Jones.

So was today the last practice of training camp because on the schedule it says we break tomorrow?

TO had that Deion-like freakish, off the charts football speed that only seemed to increase on the field. Miss that guy. I don't miss the way ESPN dug for story lines on him. It made him far worse than he actually was IMO.

This thread needs animated gifs.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame awaits Mr. Owens. I still do not believe he will get inducted on the first-ballot. He has the numbers but the Board of Selectors has a notoriously long memory. He has only himself to blame for creating a career-long persona of foolishness which may impact their deliberations for electing him. Fitting. I am rooting for a team to sign him. Just not Dallas. A signing would push his Hall eligibility back even further down the road. Why does he do these counterproductive things to himself? I do not know. Best of luck, Terrell Owens.

He was a good receiver for us. He helped Romo establish himself in this league.
He made the safeties play back and honest helping our running game.
He was a Cowboy through and though for a couple of years.

I don't get the sour grapes some have for TO. The guy was a phenomenal player for us and will be in the HOF.

But just like Rob Ryan and Wade Phillips, he became a community scapegoat for the Garrett/Romo apologists.

He was a great player in the NFL. Definitely Hall of Fame.

He was great while here on the field.

He has nothing to do with Wade or Romo or Garrett as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I'm not sure what to say other than that your opinion is misguided. Players who live and die by their teams don't have track records for turning teammates against their QBs. And the fact that he not only did it in Dallas, but just about every other place he played ought to make it clear that the problem was not unique to his situation here.

For my part, give me actions, not words. It's easy to say 'that's my quarterback.' Well, I guess it's also easy not to stab him in the back, but for whatever reason that skill somehow escaped TO his whole career. There's a reason a player that good could not find a home long-term with an NFL team.

Primarily money is the reason. True enough, I wouldn't say he's a franchise guy worth spending long term deals on (or was worth it), but free agency dictates you cut away players in decline if you have any sense as a personnel guy. He was in the twilight of his career here anyway, so his departure was likely due more to that than any fragile egos. I've never known a WR that wasn't an egomaniac, so what is so different about TO?

At any rate, you can hardly ignore his performance while in Dallas. If you want to argue character, probably best to talk about something besides professional sports. After all, there's still posts lamenting the departure of a player who, in a drunken stupor, killed another teammate. Be assured that if TO could still play, he would be on a team in the NFL...regardless of his personality.
