There are several people on this board that find the need to always question or make ignorant statements like "a real fan would do this or do that"...

My first thought is who died and named you the REAL FAN police?

The dictionary version of a sports fan:
Noun: sports fan
  1. An enthusiastic devotee of sports
    - fan, rooter
There are several Cowboys forums to choose from and I started coming here because this site seems to have more intelligent posters and more informed participants. However, there are those that feel the need to belittle or question whether posters are REAL FANs or not...come on peeps!

We are all fans, some more extreme than others but not any less a fan. I love the Cowboys, but I also don't wear beer goggles when I watch a game or root them on. I call it like I see it and if the opposing team makes a good play I cheer that on because I love good football and that doesn't make me not a REAL FAN of the Cowboys.

I can understand trolls coming on this board and talkin smack. But yesterday there were alot of people on here saying people weren't "real Cowboys fans" if they blamed the refs for the outcome Sunday.

I posted yesterday that there were 3 major factors to the loss and the refs played a large part in that loss among the other factors that contributed. The NFL even admitted they made mistakes that resulted in a 14 point swing for the Packers.

Every Cowboys fan on here is a REAL FAN...lets just leave it at that...

I will go on record to say you are right that everyone is a real fan, but some are just plain annoying.

as far as officiating goes, every team has a bad call or two and we cannot claim them just because they are convenient. Same goes with injuries, every team has them, we just are not as prepared for them as other teams seem to be.

the main reason why we lost was because we did not produce more points than the other team.

Our offense did not move the ball very well and did not make adjustments for what was not working. Packers offense on the other hand did not move fairly well either but they made adjustments for that that got them enough points to win the game. One of those adjustments was they ran the ball a whole lot more in the second half which is something Garrett should have done.

Both fumbles resulted in 2 touchdowns in both cases didn't it? and Dallas recovered the ball on both plays but the Packers were given the ball right?

I agree 100% with you. Like I said in my previous posts there we several factors that cost the Cowboys the game and the horrible officiating was a part of that as well and cannot be denied.

How many mistakes did the NFL admit to? Maybe I missed something.

The NFL is offering an official entering his fifth season $62,103 in 2001, compared to the $42,295 he would have made last year as a fourth-year official for regular-season and preseason games plus various meetings and clinics. In 2003, he would earn $84,470.

The union, meanwhile is asking that a fifth-year official be paid $95,000 per season starting this year, an increase of 50 percent.

For senior officials, the difference is greater. The NFL is offering officials with 20 or more years of experience $120,998 this year. The union is asking $210,000, a 75 percent different.

The two sides are also using the other major sports for comparison. The three others use full-time officials and the NFL's are part-time, although by Condon's figures they work an average of 1,200 hours a year.

So the union noted that even if its offer is accepted, NFL officials would be the lowest paid on an annual basis. The NFL responded with a chart showing that per-game compensation in its 16-game season is double and triple the other leagues' at the 20-year level.

"We reviewed their offer and thought their offer was inappropriate and didn't address the contribution that the officials make to the game," Condon said Tuesday morning. "They thought our offer was excessive and asked for too much."

now the refs continue to make blown calls not knowing the rules or it takes them 4 to 5 minutes to decide what to do;

thats not knowing the rules and doing your job, just like the extra challenge flag that packers got and no penalty was called on the packers

and some fans still say refs didnt have any outcome on this game,

and you want to not say anything against the refs; yet refs are getting over 70,000 so your content with that?

ok, got yah woodygirl, just wanted to be sure zoners are actually realizing how much these refs are being paid, yet do a sloppy job like they are

someone said last night on the cleveland game that they got 4 timeouts in 2nd half, another blown call

so i was trying to let fans finally realize its not just calls on cowboys its in the whole nfl and its like goodell says no problem with officiating yet it is

till fans stand together and say enough is enough, enough of this sugar coating on refs, hold them accountable

While that may or may not be true, we don't really need you reposting the same stuff in every thread.

Truthfully most folks don't even know what it takes to be a ref and how long it actually takes to get to the level of major sports official. In the end, there will still be mistakes because it is based on human intervention.

It can suck when the calls go against your favorite team, but, in general, that's not the worst called I've seen where the calls definitely changed the outcome of a game.

thats my point im trying to make; think about this; refs are paid most of them being over 5 year vets over 95,000.
Next, tampa bay game where wr is on ground, knee hits ground, then ball ripped out; head coach of tampa gripes, gets a penalty for complaining
Next i hate the patriots because of belicheck the cheater, but they had the first down, everyone could see that on the tv, yet blown call,
Then our game; and last night in 4th quarter in cleveland game, one team is given 4 timeouts; another blown call

Then think about the challenge flag that packers coach threw and he didnt have any more, the ref goes over to him and says you dont have any more challenge flags, right there should have been a penalty and we would have gotten an extra 15 yards, maybe not throw the big interception

what im saying i admit i am not content for someone that is getting over 95,000 that is paid part time for his job, but he doesnt know the rules

this is the same ref that blinded a player in the nfl with a flag that had bb's stuff in the flag at the time

even an announcer on thefan said that triplettes ref crew is the most horrendous terrrible refs that blows calls

im not content with that; what if that same ref covers another game and blows more calls against us, are you content with that

i have a friend that is a ref that calls high school games and he does a better job than the nfl crews have done this year;

I love the Zone, because it does seem to have the some of most intelligent posters.

That said, it also seems to have some of the most self-absorbed posters who, often times, run in packs.

Sometimes, if you have an opinion that is counter to another poster's opinion not only can you expect them to come at you, but you can also expect a certain amount of his friends to come at you strictly because you dared to question a buddy. They do it under the guise of being "real" football fans or having some super, secret football knowledge that no one else has.

Can't tell you how many times I've read something along the lines as, "how dare you cross him, he's a 'respected' member of the board. Yadda, yadda, yadda."

Obviously, it's ridiculous because no one is 100% correct when it comes to the game or the Cowboys, but you'll see it anyway.

I do find it amazing that a fan, any fan, can come in here espousing their way as being the only way to be a TRUE fan, and anything that is contrary requires other fans to...wait for it..."turn in his fan card."

Gets me every time.
