I've never seen a lineman's fingers taped in this elaborate but obviously systematic way. What is the ratioanle for it..technique, hand strength?

PS No, WG, it really wasn't just a ploy to post a Canty pic. ;)

When I played DE in school I would tape the end of my fingers like that because when grabbing a Jersey the mesh would slip sometimes and would tear my fingers. So it worked for me as some protection from that and also gave better grip when grabbing the jerseys. Other than that I couldn't say.

Could be as simple as your hands sweating. Also, if your playing on turf, you sometimes take skin off during the course of a game. Could be, he was just looking for some way to gain your attention LT.

I played DLINE in HS and college, you're exactly correct. Tape provides protection and grip....

And sometimes they just like to tape their fingers that way.

Kevin Greene used to do it just to emulate some pro wrestler if I remember right.

Thanks for the info, guys....some traction for jersey grabbing certainly makes sense. :)
