Todd Bowles - Help me get excited. PLEASE!

Will any of you guys and gals w/ info on Todd please share with us so I can try to warm up to the idea of him as DC if that is what pans out.

Hearing all the gushing over JG helps accept his new role on the team but I've yet to hear all these glowing reports about Todd being one of the "up and coming" or "rising stars" in the coaching ranks.

All I know is our secondary stunk and learning the 3-4 from BP and Zim does not inspire confidence that he will be the next great DC.

Just grasping at staws here trying to come to grips w/ Norv as HC and Bowles as DC.

Could mike singletary be brought along as defensive coordinator? I think he's only a LB's coach with the niners.

Good or bad - some things I have heard.

1) Zim & Bowles did not have a great working relationship. I think this came out after Zim left.

2) Newman has been critical of Zim and lifts Bowles up. For whatever that is worth.

3) When Zim left, he took a slight shot at the secondary, something about they didn't listen to him or what he said or something.

Now I know that the secondary has been an issue for 5 or more years, and that Zim was the secondary coach for all that time. it was always the same thing, too - no looking for the ball, playing too far off, not taking chances, etc. Further, Zim didn't want to hire Bowles - he was coaching the defense & secondary, but Parcells made the hire.

So basically - what I gather is that he is a change. From all that, I would surmise that it is a philosophical change - I think that what happens with the secondary will start with what Bowles will start to do up front.

I like someone from the outside..Pepper Johnson if he is ready I think he will be great fit.BP will make sure the defense is in a good hand no way we are going back to 4-3.

I have read he is a no nonsense guy,expects alot from the players,and is well liked by the guys on the team, now whether or not he would be a good DC remains to be seen. As long as he shows an aggressive scheme I am ok with it.
