They had Chris Carter on in the last segment. He was giving Ware some love. And said that Merriman only gets sacks when he goes up against runningbacks. Greenie and Mcshay both tried to fence him into saying he liked Ware over Merriman, but Carter copped out and wouldn't finish his thought on that. But it was fairly apparent what his thought was on the comparison.

I think Ware is going to end this debate after next season and just leave Merriman behind.

Ware has really progressed every year we've been lucky to have him. I would like to see him develop another move which would help him more consistently get to the QB; would love to see him increase his sacks from 14 to maybe 17 -- that's usually the guy who ends up leading the NFL in sacks. Whose kidding who - I'd love to see Ware break Strahan's record 21 1/2 sacks.

I was listening to this on the way to work and I was cheering Cris Carter.

If a team is deciding between Ware and Merrmian they have already won.

But it is pretty easy to see who anyone would rather cheer for at this point.

I think it depends on your defense and who you already have but yeah, if I was starting from scratch, I'd take Ware of Merriman and never think twice about it.

It was interesting too that Mcshay asked Cris Carter about Vernon Gholston(since Carter is a buckeye as well), and he was unsure whether or not Gholston could make the transition to a 3-4 linebacker...specifically playing in space.....

I love Ware. I just wish he had a little of that mean streak like LT had and Merriman displays. Ware is an incredible athlete who seems like a really nice guy.

Agreed...it would be nice to see him have that "killa" instinct....

However, I will take his abilty to get to the QB, chase down Rb's, and cover TE's and WR's in space anyday.....

Truly a franchise Defense player.......

When they do the re-draft is there any doubt those guys go off the board in the top 3 or 4 picks?

Merriman was better early as he was more pro-ready(thanks to the Barry Bonds workout supplements).

I love Ware as a player and person and would not trade him for any player in the league. But I am not going to get stupid and pretend Merriman sucks after he has 40 sacks or so in 3 seasons. Ebeneezer Ekuban he is not

I'd like to see Ware all puffed up on steroids. He'd get a few sacks on fear alone.
