Tom Brady's legacy

Bill is obviously a fantastic coach. That much is 100% clear.

But Brady is still great.

Yes they've won without him, including last night.

But if Brady were playing last night they likely win by more than 27 with the way the Texans were gifting the Pats offense with short fields.

Let's not act like Brissett lit the world on fire last night. He didn't.

But he played smart. He didn't turn the ball over.

That's where the greatness of Bill shines through.

Yeah Brady's still a GREAT QB, don't get me wrong.

I'm talking about on an All-Time Scale, here. The comparisons get kind of nitpicky, and the thing that has had Tom Brady firmly in the top 5, and pushing for "Greatest of All Time" has been a strong winning record.

If the Patriots seem to keep on trucking regardless of who is playing QB (or RB, or WR, or TE for that matter), it's hard for me to say that he warrants a lot of credit for that.

And if that's the case, why should I hold him above Brees?

Because he is a far better QB with many more SB wins. There has to be some standard or it doesn't matter. Brady IS the best. He has the stats AND the record to back it.

So it looks like the Patriots are now 14-5 without Brady since he took over QB1. A winning percentage of .74

Their winning percentage with him is .76
G
We've seen Matt Cassell perform admirably and lead them to an 11-5 record just to fall flat on his face as soon as he left.

We've seen Jimmy G step in and look just as good as anyone.

And now, Jacoby Brissett leads the team to a 27-0 trouncing of the Texans.

I'm not going to argue that Brady isn't a great QB...

But does this hurt his legacy at all?

For me I went back and forth on having him as the GOAT. But it's really hard for me to do that now.

Thoughts?

Trying to discredit Brady because of the Patriots team W/L record without is a misnomer.

The Pats won yesterday with Jacoby Brissett throwing for barely a 100 yards (103 to be exact).

The Pats win because they have an innovative, brilliant and lunatic coach in Bellichek. They are a well ran team that are typically disciplined and can dynamically adapt; when everyone zigs, they zag.

The only way Brady's legacy should be tarnished is if any of these QBs step in and put up a season with the numbers that Brady typically does on an annual basis.

Like Drew Brees? Or Peyton Manning?

That's what I'm talking about-- it seems the Patriots don't need to succeed, so why is the Patriots success over the years a tie breaker in close races like those?

I think you can boil it down to this.

Bill Belichick without Tom Brady (not counting playoffs) - is 54 - 62
Bill Belichick with Tom Brady (not counting playoffs) 172 - 51

I think it's pretty safe to say who made who.

How I see it is Brady can make the plays! And the coach can make the plays! If I had to pick who is more important there is no argument that the coach is more important. We have all witnessed the coach wins with whoever. It's a team game.

I'm not sure I'm following?

Im talking about the Pats backup QBs behind Brady.

I think the pats will go to another afc championship game again this season its between them and Pittsburgh who win its all.

I think all it does is raise Belichick's legacy, which was already high. Dismantling Houston and putting up 27-0 with a QB3 rookie is as impressed as I've ever been.

Doesn't matter who the asst coaches are. Doesn't matter who the players are. Mumbles just wins and he's the common thread.

Does it than make Garret look less of a coach because of his horrendous record without Romo
