Tom Cable to be interviewed for OL Coach

Do any of the new assistants get more than a one year deal??

Allegedly physically assaulted an assistant. The NFL investigated as did the local authorities and charges were never brought, because the assistant in question, Randy Hanson, gave conflicting stories to authorities and there were inconsistencies throughout his story.

Oddly enough, Hanson was later arrested for smashing a beer bottle in the face of someone outside a night club.

Also, Cable also had accusations of domestic violence brought against him by an ex-wife and former girlfriend, but again, no charges were filed I believe.
He will fit right in. Hire him immediately.

The Seahawks and Bengals had 2 of the worst running games in the league this past season, no?

Quite possibly, but I know neither guy had much to work with.

Alexander lost his top two linemen in 2017 in Whitworth and Zeitler.

And Cable was tasked with cobbling a line out of scraps in Seattle, while all of their resources went to the defense. In that way, they're like the anti-Cowboys.

This is why you can’t get too worked up over bringing in guys like Kellen Moore to the staff. It all depends what coaches you assemble collectively. If you’ve got a ton of experience at other position groups, you can afford to take that flyer if you really want to.

I disagree. Even if they hire a great offensive line coach, Dak still needs someone to help him with his own issues. Even the best O-line coach in the world doesn't do that.

Not really. Because how is Cable going to help Moore develop Prescott? Plus Prescott is likely the single most important offensive player for us in 2018. If he struggles again, so will this team. So if you are going to take a flier, take it somewhere not as important.

Moore has his place in this franchise.......... as an assistant to an assistant working up and learning how to coach.

Because they let all of their talent go. Look at the Seahawks when they had Unger and the Bengals when they had Whitworth and Zeitler. These are pretty good coaches who have been around for awhile.

Linehan is developing Prescott. Garrett is involved, too. That won’t change.

Cable gives you another former HC who can handle spillover duties if your OC needs to juggle time. That gives you more options to bring along young coaches. Which isn’t a luxury you have if you don’t have experienced guys in some of those position groups.

Note, I agree that Moore probably shouldn’t be brought right in as QB coach. The point is that there are better ways to do that though if that’s what Linehan ultimately wants to do. At the end of the day, he should get the staff he wants to do his job.

I would argue that 21 is the most important piece on offense for us. If he his balling like its 2016 Dak is going to have a nice year.

if he comes to Dallas, Goodell will reopen the investigation and Cable gets a minimum of 6 games. Heck, Wilson got 4 games for treating his erectile dysfunction, Cable will get a year.....

Paul Alexander would not be a bad hire. Alexander has worked across multiple schemes in his time as an OL coach, and would do a good job.

Tom Cable, on the other hand, would be a bad hire.

Prescott's development is the single biggest issue facing this team for next year IMO. If he struggles, this team simply can't get beyond what they are now, which is an inconsistent, middling at times, NFL franchise. And Elliott can't make up for that IMO.

I’d like this pickup. Look what he did in Seattle w that oline and lynch. I know linehan calls the plays but it seems a whole new coaching staff will happen under linehan. I’m not happy linehan will be back but I’ll hold out hope his coaching staff will do a better job

I agree with you to a point, but Dak has shown that he can play at a very high level when the running game is working. I think most QB's don't function well without help on offense. Very few can truly shoulder the load for a whole offense and be successful. I'm not sure Dak will ever be at the level where he can solo the effort. But in short, yes it is still important for Dak to develop.

The running game was technically working at times with Morris in for Elliott and he still struggled.

I think people are making the false assumption that if Elliott is running well, Prescott will fall in line.
