On another board someone pointed me towards this video and it brought back all the reasons why I loved watching this guy in the late 70s. His speed and glide were incredible. Smooth as can be. The way he hit holes and was gone was remarkable. Great video. Just thought I'd trot this out for some youngins that might not know how good he was in the wake of the CTE news. BTW, the interview with Staubach about his name and what Roger said he wanted to change his name too. Hilarious. Runs from about 1:32-3:00 are incredible. Also noticed how good a downfield clocker Drew P was.

TD was so smooth, elusive and fast, loved watching him run. He can find smallest hold between the tackles and next thing you know he is gone, it's uncanny how he can find smallest opening and can hit it and then gone. Once he is outside, forget about it, he is too fast to get caught. His acceleration was amazing. He is a very good receiver as well, caught numerous long passes.

Thanks for posting op and yes watching him run was a thing of beauty.
I find it ironic that a running back that got a bad rap for skipping out of bounds to avoid unnecessary hits is now suffering from brain trauma issues. Very sad to see.
Also I remember where I was when tony busted that 99 yder. It was on min nite football and I believe we wound up losing that game.

The bolded!Yup. Some of the runs in the video had him hitting the line and then going by people like they were standing still. Weren't going to catch him.

He was incredible and was not a finesse runner as you can see by some if his runs in the middle if the field. His presence alone opened up the offense for those teams in the late 70s....they could score from anywhere on the field by run or pass. His acceleration is what set him apart I have never seen anyone hit a hole as quickly as he did. Thanks for posting the video.

Not thought of as a big back, Dorsett could bang with the best of the RBs. His strength was amazing. And I agree with his graceful acceleration. A 20 million dollar Ferrari player.

Tony was the ultimate weapon who could take it to the house on any play from anywhere on the field. He made teams respect our running game to which opened up the passing game. I would love to have him today! A 20 million dollar Ferrari player indeed.

My childhood football hero. He was the sole reason me born and raised in Philly became a Cowboy fan. I had a chance to meet him back in 2003 or 2004 in Norfolk Va. He has or had a business that had a contract with the Navy (food products or something). He came to the Command and I introduced myself and then took him down on my submarine for a tour, we talked for about 2 hours about the sub and football, and just how the hell I became a Cowboy fan in Philly.

I think he's rush for like 2000 YDS today easily in a zone-blocking scheme like a Shanahan-Kubiak offense... sees the whole and "WHAM!", the defense wouldn't know what hit them.. Just see smoke...

TD was absolutely amazing.

When I was a teenager and was about to have my first child (Yes, yes I said teenager) before we knew what it was going to be I wanted the boys name to be something where the first and middle initials would be TD.

Everyone thought that was just because of Touchdown, cause I loved football obviously, but it was because of that and Tony. Awesome player. This is very sad news.

sorry to hear that young buck..pull up youtube and watch and learn!!!

Oh I do...

Love watching them on YouTube but no way it's as awesome as watching them live. I saw Emmitt break the record and join the Cardinals but he was a shell of what he once was by then.
