Replacing Zeke will be by committee as you just alluded to.

Couldn't agree more -- seems like practically everything that this staff does now is that type of a decision. That seems smart to me.

Pollard is not a carry the load type back. Weber is.

If they can get him healthy enough, that's likely so. I just hope his recent hurt will prove to be something minor.

Even if he happens to have it scoped, it shouldn't take very long to overcome. Maybe about a month or so. ;)

If it happens to be deemed as necessary, here's hoping they don't mess around until it's later than need be.

They need to sign a veteran back.

Weber is not a NFL back....Pollard is. Weber is not gonna make the team. Everyone is going bananas on his best case projection as a every down type of back. You cant forget that this guy is a 7th round pick.....Scarborough 2.0

Weber goes to PS with Chunn and Jackson. One or two might get poached for someone else's 53, but that will still leave us with someone to bring to the 53 should Zeke miss a game.

People get way too excited about 7th rounders. They should be *assumed* to go to the PS.

Sorry I had to do it. But with Zeke's history don't be surprised if this becomes our reality. I personally would prefer Pollard over Weber. Thoughts?
Pollard wasnt drafted to be Zeke's backup. He isnt that type of player and thats not the role they picked him for. If Zeke is going to miss games, expect them to sign a free agent as a replacement or make a trade unless they feel Weber can do it

Seriously you do not think Pollard is going to make the team? The guy is a beast in the return game. Offensively, he is as good of a receiver as he is a runner and runs with power when need be. Could be the steal of the draft if Zeke misses games and definitely an upgrade to our backups over the last 3-4 years.

Watched Tony play here at Memphis his entire career - he'll make the team ... unless he goes brain dead. The kid is a hard worker with skills and has never been given anything in his life.

-Zeke isn't getting suspended. No arrest was made. No charges were filed.
-Pollard isn't starting, not until he learns blitz pickup (and he did very little blocking at Memphis).
-Even if Pollard is only a 4.5 guy, that's actually a pretty good time. At 6'0" 210, he is a lot bigger than his gadget-guy reputation might make you think, and a 4.51 at that size checks the box for successful NFL height-weight-speed.

Pollards role wont change. But he better have the entire offensive playbook well memorized. He will be a swiss army knife...but first and foremost, used on returns and special teams.

plus, the wildcard is Weber...given the program he comes from , he may surprise in camp.

Based on what Ive seen Pollard can be a primary back up for Zeke. I'm expecting that he will win the role while also adding plays as a hybrid WR/RB.

I agree. Doesn't seem to have a selfish bone in his body despite having the talent to be a primary back. Should be fun watching him grow in the offense.

Weber is more NFL ready than Pollard.

do you know the backs or are you just judging off of where they were drafted?
