It really could be Romo is just over Dallas? You never know.. He could be a bit tired of getting killed behind that o-line... Maybe he even goes as far to see what the FO does in the draft to protect him ..

Or it could simply be he is waiting on more money

Nice car. What are your 1/4 and/or 1/8 times? Don't those have a set limit to top end speed?

Back on topic. This is likely Romo's last big contract. The next one will be limited most likely due to his age. He need's to score on this one. Just my take.

To be honest we as fans deserve better than him dragging his feet and some help for the Only team that gave him a chance.

There were other teams willing to sign him as an undrafted free agent.

And he is not dragging his feet.

This is what happens when you have a real honest to goodness contract negotiation. We are not used to it as Dallas fans because Jerry Jones usually doles out money unnecessarily before it comes down to the last contract season for a player who is doing well.

Maybe Romo is waiting until the draft determines how well he will be protected by the line if he stays. That could have a bearing on how much he eventually demands. However, I think the contract will be concluded before then with verbal assurances on that score.

Sorry don't agree hes blew this off since last year when the team went public and said they wanted him resigned so the blame is on him. Just my take team wanted to avoid this and wanted to talk about it last year he said no. Sorry not the guy i want going forward anymore after the way the last couple seasons have went i want a guy who wants to be here to prove people wrong.

I hope so but isn't it hard for them to do this without being able to get things in order before the draft.

.

Never did the 1/8
Best 1/4 time was 10.07 : trap speed was 143.8

Fastest I have had it was 165 at Daytona speedway on track
Top end speed govern ( top end limiter) has been removed in aftermarket tune

You clearly misunderstand the mind of a pro athlete. They do have their own interests.

Even the games real true greats, those that have accomplished far more than Romo have a line they do not cross.

I hardly think "proving people wrong" enters into a player's mind when they get a taste of the big time and continue to be told they are the end all be all.

It is not like he has not been called vital to this franchise over and over again.

He is just cashing in his chips. There is no reason he should take some silly notion about public opinion and his legacy and overlook that fact.

Sadly, it's not an intentional clause in Romo's original contract. It was just an oversight, it seems. The contract says that if Romo is on the roster at the end of the 2013 league year, the contract immediately voids. That happens before the franchise tagging window. So voila, he's a free agent and there is nothing the Cowboys can do. I think Stephen Jones screwed the pooch on this one!

Don't all Free Agent contracts essentially end prior to the tag window?

I mean, it's not like Spencer was under contract when the 2012 year ended.

Spot on.

At the end of the day, proving people wrong still won't buy you a Lambo.

It amazes me that people think Romo should just take a deal that is less advantageous to him to "prove people wrong".

Prove who wrong? Pundits? Fans? Does anyone think he goes to sleep every night and relives the Seattle muff over and over again? I think fans probably obsess over that far more than he does to the point he should be expected to just play for less than market value.

Would him taking a few million less really make a difference in Dallas being able to sign enough free agents that Jones could buy enough talent to win a Super Bowl?

This is about time. Romo is smart enough to know he does not have a lot of time left, despite this silly notion he has another five years in him.

That is the point i don't think he has accomplished enough to drag his feet all i am trying to say. He prob would have gotten more money last year than he gets this yr from Jerry.

Romo will get some ridiculously high offers if he hits free agency. I don't blame him if he does, I'd want to get as much money as possible if I was him.

Well i c the BLINDERS ARE ON no comment on why he holds this team hostage didn't wanna talk last year and now dragging it out. Maybe if he won 1 SB or even more than 1 playoff game i would agree. Keep defending him what will ya say next year he had a ruff start with all the contract stuff give him another year:banghead:

No, I think Romo's was different in that it "voided" at end of league year, whereas other normal contracts dont expire until after the franchise tagging period. That's my understanding.

So what, the blinders are on because his perception differs from yours? The bottom line is that none of us are privy as to what is going on behind closed doors, as far as we know Jerry wants to wait until Rodgers signs to see if he does what Brady did and in turn brings that to Tony's agent. You are no more "in the know" than any of us are, and it's unbecoming to talk down to others as if somehow you know more or know better. Can you tell me why he didn't sign last year? No you can't and the answer would be the same as to if you could tell me why he hasn't signed as of yet this year. It's indisputable that around 15% of current NFL teams would sign Romo if given the chance and sign him to a large contract, and all parties in his contract negotiations know this.

If he is doing as you say, then Romo and his representation are probably chuckling to themselves. Waiting to see what the game's two best proven QBs do/did?

The Flacco deal should have been the prompt. But since there is the very clear message from the Joneses that he is indeed the franchise and it all hinges on him, they clearly have the negotiating advantage and there is no reason why they should give it up.

You and all of us on here have no idea what is that status of contract negotiation to say Romo is dragging this out. Stop acting like a little kid throwing a hissy fit because you aren't getting your way.

BS, did you see what Arizona gave up for Kolb? How about Matt Flynn? Your hatred of Romo distorts "your" value of him.

I hate Tony Romo.

You learn something new every day.

I didn't say he wouldn't get a big deal elsewhere. I said no other team will match what the Cowboys are willing to pay Romo.

If you think about it, it really does make sense that the negotiations would be tricky as Romo is probably a really tough guy to put a value on. Obviously Jerry would like to pay him as little as possible for salary cap reasons, but negotiations tend to play heavy in facts and "measurables" and Romo does very well in that category. I suppose the Cowboys main angle to work the price down could be his age, but even that seems kinda silly in wake of a 36 year old Peyton Manning, coming of serious surgeries, signing a 5 year deal.
