On the day, Romo went 10-for-17 in team and 7-on-7 drills.

On to the observations:

  • Romo and Bryant hooked up on back-shoulder touchdowns in tight red zone work on Claiborne in one-on-one drills. But Claiborne was able to exact some revenge on the third rep when he was able to rip the ball free from Bryant for the breakup. Romo later hit Bryant across the back of the end zone for a touchdown in 7-on-7 work a play after Romo’s throw on a similar route was a tad early and fell incomplete.

  • Tight end Rico Gathers threw down an emphatic spike after he thought he's beaten safety Jeff Heath for a touchdown in the competition period of practice. One problem: He was called for offensive pass interference for pushing off on Heath. Several defenders were glad to point to the flag on the ground after Gathers’ spike.

  • With cornerbacks Orlando Scandrick and Brandon Carr and right tackleDoug Free sitting out practice, rookie corner Anthony Brown took the first-team nickel snaps; Josh Thomas replaced Carr and Chaz Green worked at right tackle. Green has had a good chance to show the coaches what he can do the past two days with the first-team offense with left tackle Tyron Smith sitting out Friday.

Nice to hear Gathers playing physical and with passion. Excited to see him in some preseason games. Also excited about Brice Butler, he could have a Laurent Robinson type season.

Anyone know how this went? Lousy reporting here Archer.

I heard somewhere, possibly from Bryan Broaddus on Training Camp Live yesterday, that Chaz Green has looked good the past two practices. Once subbing at LT for Tyron Smith and then RT for Doug Free, when the starters each took a day off.

Green wasn't great, nor was he awful.

Hopefully, Green will continue playing better as he gets acclimated to practicing again. He's got a wonderful opportunity here and we need to hit on this draft pick.

Rico Gathers looks awful from the very little I have seen on TC live.

He is clueless in the blocking department and I don't even think he knows some of the rules.

Here's a Chaz Green blurb from BTB

Chaz Green
Tyron Smith had the day off yesterday and Doug Free was off today, so that means second-year tackle Chaz Green got two straight days with the starting unit. People have been wondering about Green, but there hasn’t been much reported about him. Garrett said in his press conference Saturday that Green had some ups and downs. Going against the one’s was challenging, but he keeps fighting. It’s tough to get a feel for where he is at, but it sounds like he’s still has a lot of work to do.

Suave has a long road ahead in becoming a NFL TE.

Gathers will likely need to pass through waivers and join the Practice Squad following final cuts if he's going to be developed here.
