Even if he's cleared to play start Orton.
Its up to the doctors at this point...............will playing risk further injury to his back?
This is also one of the most high profile players in the league and you dam sure better have all your medical info correct before you send Romo out there. If he gets sacked and cant get up, the cart then comes out onto the field and carries him off, talk about one hell of a firestorm the organization would be under. Questions would arise if the Cowboys pressured the medical staff to clear him when he really should not have been.
You guys want Mara leading the league investigation into that?
My guess is the eagles will bring the house a lot.
The bigger question is why would Jerry/Stephen resign him to staggering long term deal with known back issues on 30+ year old QB. That in itself deserves an investigation. While we are at...can we get investigation on Ratliff & Austin contracts.
Maybe because he's one of the top QBs in football. Just maybe that's why.

he could have been top QB the NFL has seen for past 50 years...you don't do that kind of contract with those circumstances. That contract was a charity not an intelligent football decision. I will say this....Jerry is making it crystal clear for all of us to see why this team stays in constant state of uninspired football. Jerry isn't even trying to hide his incompetence anymore.
From strictly a business stance, its not actually a bad move even if Romo has a bad back. This is because, Romo is a sellable commodity. What I mean is that Jerry can sell tickets, jerseys, merchandise, TV ratings, whatever, as long as he has Tony Romo. He is one of the most polarizing players in the NFL and folks will come out or tune in to see him no matter what. If he sucks and throw picks, alot of folks are happy. If he throws a winning TD pass, alot of other folks are happy.
If you replace Romo with Orton or some rookie out of college...........all of this vanishes...............so no, even if Romo cant play at the same level he used to with a bad back, from a business standpoint it was still a very good decision to sign Romo long term. It really is business 101.............you dont get rid of a sellable asset if you dont have anything else to replace it with that generates equal or greater demand.
Now as far as production on the field, thats another story..............but from a pure business perspective, it actually made very good sense to sign Romo long term, even if he has a bad back.
The Cowboys were the no.1 tv ratings getter even before Romo and will be after him, it's not just him but any other player for that matter. The star on the helmet is what attracts people not so much the players, do you think Romo would get so much attention if he were the qb for Jacksonville? If Garrett was the Browns hc do you think that he'd get any attention? It's all about the star on the helmet, so if Jerry decision to sign a qb with the knowledge that he had a serious back injury (assuming he knew) was motivated by business then it was the wrong decision.
Numbnuts better come up with a decent game plan for once in his life; ya know, adapting to your players, the OPPONENT, and the practical options available to exploit their weaknesses and to minimize their strengths. Ahhh, too much time, I "already made my game plan in TC."
