I know everything's not about stats but man, Romo has played very well on the games we´ve lost this year, yes he was bad this past sunday but it's ridiculous the amount of heat this guy gets as a choker, loser, not clutch.

Tony Romo is again in crosshairs for his late interceptions against the Packers. Here’s an interesting note from Mike Nyberg. Tony Romo has a 104.5 passer rating in losses for the Cowboys this year. Here is Nyberg’s chart showing the passer rating for other notable quarterbacks in losses.

To put that in perspective, six players have a higher passer rating in all games than Romo does in losses.

Mind numbing stuff.

And it goes to show that no matter how good you are, when you make a huge mistake that essentially costs the team a game, the good is not remembered, just the bad.

Just shows you that stats are not the end all be all when determining a players worth. You can have great stats but then make a horrible mistake that costs your team a game, or not show up in crunch time. Stats will say you were good, the eye says you sucked. I will trust my eyes and not stats.

I am going to start using this argument in other facts of life.

Yes honey, the scale says I gained 10 pounds from drinking beer and eating crappy food during football season, but my eye test shows no real changes in my weight.

Well Boss-man, the commission report shows I only sold 10 widgets this quarter, but the eye test shows I killed it out there.

You could also say it this way... "Romo is one of our problems on the team" because he is.

You could.. but out of the 53 players, if I were to rank them in order from 1 to 53, with 1 being the biggest problem and 53 the least problem, Romo would be number 53. He is a great QB and we are lucky to have him. How about we get a good team around him and see what happens. Romo has to play a perfect game every week to give this sorry bunch of players and coaches even a chance to win, that is not fair to him. No QB is asked to do more than Romo. It is just silly to count Romo among the problems of this team.

Did you keen eyesight allow you to see the defense give up 34 points in the second half?

This is exactly why Coaches like Landry and Parcells valued QBs who were excellent decision makers over QBs who were stat machines.

The more you think the game has changed, the more I think it's proven that the great ones understood more then we sometimes give them credit for.

Hahahahahaha.

Tell me... which "stat machine QBs" did Parcells or Landry shun in favor of "excellent decision-makers"?

Must be one hell of a list!

Why do I need to tell you. Were you not there? If you were not there, then again, why do I need to tell you?

Parcells took guys like Sims, who was not all that highly regarded because he was an excellent decision maker. He played Hostetler when a lot of people didn't even think he should have kept him on the rosters. Here in Dallas, he stuck with older QBs for a long time rather then going with younger guys for the exact same reasons.

Coach Landry stuck with White longer then many wanted him to, even when White was seriously injured. He dind't play Roger until he felt he could trust him. Coach Landry valued the same kinds of things. I mean, I guess I don't understand what the issue is here?

If you sell 800 widgets, but you blow the big Peterman account, your boss is most likely still going to be left with a less than fantastic view of your overall body of work.
