When Danny Coale or Cole Beasley is the worst receiver on your team... you know you're sitting pretty. There is never going to be a situation where Bryant or Austin is on the sideline and we have to get upset because "HE" is in the game, i.e. Manuel Johnson, Sam Hurd, Jesse Holley, Kevin Ogletree.
James Hanna is better than John Phillips, who was better than Martellus Bennett (pass catching). And Escobar should be better than James Hanna. I think this is a serious upgrade, where there were times that someone like Bennett was in the game, and you really wouldn't want us to pass to him.
All of our running backs have significant experience catching the ball. I think Randle had the fewest receiving yards out of the 3 of them, with about 917 receiving yards in his college career (but did that in 3 years). I think we should throw to the running back a lot less, unless we get linemen out in space, and our receiver block better in the future, but it is nice to have all three of our running backs be potential receiving threats.
There isn't a single skill position player who you would think, "Tony, don't throw the ball to him." I think you can argue that nearly every skill position player we have is a potential playmaker, or at the very least is a solid option. I think that's really new to our offense.
Romo hasn't had more than 3 legitimate receiving options since 2006 and that was Owens, Glenn, Witten, and Crayton. I think this is a significant upgrade to that. If we make a couple more adjustments at the line, which should have upgraded every offensive position on the team since the days where we were really successful on offense.
