Lol boy you know you cant win an argument when you have to make personal attacks on an individual.

But that's okay cause everyone is entitled to their opinion while being a Internet tough guy.

I usually don't use ad hominem attacks but in your case it was warranted because you're just being irrational on purpose.

Oh and it's "being an internet tough guy"

In your opinion will Tony be a 1st ballot HOF after his career is over

lol, if you want to wear your Cowboy's glasses I get that, but at THIS POINT, if Tony were to go on to win the superbowl this year and then retire I seriously doubt he ever makes it into the HOF as 1st ballot or otherwise, now were he to win 2 SB or make a 3-5 year stretch of deep, ie. NFCCG runs then possibly.

I think all he needs is to finish out his career at his normal level of play and get a ring, and he's in.

I think that the ring will be necessary though whether that's fair or not.

1 SB and with his stats since he has entered the league I believe he gets in. Eli has no shot other than the family name.

I dont if Romo needs 1 or 2 rings to get in, but I can tell you that one guy who has 2 rings, if he were to ever get in the HOF it would greatly diminish and devalue the accomplishments of every other player in the HOF.

If E-Lie were to get in the HOF because he has 2 rings, then Trent Dilfer & Mark Rypien are worthy with 1 ring.

Tony Romo has finished in the top ten for passer rating 7 times during his career and 4 times in the top five. He may notch his eighth top ten finish this season and fifth top five.
And not just his 8th, but his 8th in a row. Only six QB have ever done that.

Consecutive Seasons
Top 10 Passers

14 Manning (1999-2010, 2012-13)
13 Montana (1980-90, 93-94)
11 Brady (2001-07, 09-12)
8 Dawson (1964-68, 70-72)
8 Fouts (1978-85)
8 Young (1991-98)

lol, you need some serious perspective friend.

Romo's individual statistics and rankings rank among the greats, just he doesn't have the rings to back it all up. I honestly don't think it'd be far fetched to make that comparison if Romo somehow pulled together 2 Super Bowl wins before he retired.

It's all meaningless fluff anyways, what matters is right now. This topic can be revisited when he hangs it up,I mean it's kinda silly to talk about this while his career is still on going.

How many QBs in any era should get in to the HOF?
So where does he rank among his contemporaries?

The top 2 are Brady and Manning. Brees is a clear #3. There isn't an argument to be made that Romo's career is on the same level.

So let's guess that 5 or 6 QBs from Romo's era get in. Who are the next tier? Right now I'd rank them
Roethlisberger
Rodgers

Rivers, Romo
Eli Manning

I don't think Eli deserves it but the 2 rings make him a candidate. The fact that he plays in NYC is another advantage. OTOH I believe he's going to spend the rest of his career proving he doesn't belong.
Roethlisberger has the 2 rings, good stats and plays for one of the most popular teams. I think he's a nearly certain choice.
Rodgers looks like he's going to end up in the Brady/Manning category.

Rivers career numbers are similar to Romo's and I've never heard anybody argue he's a first ballot HOFer. He hasn't had great success in the playoffs but's had more than Romo. His big disadvantage is he plays in SD and the West Coast teams don't get the same attention. He also hasn't gotten the blame Romo got for his team's failure.

One Super Bowl win probably gets rid of most of the "Romo chokes in big games" meme. I suppose if Romo got to a Super Bowl and another couple of NFC Championship games that would be enough to get him in.

The idea that he needs more than one ring is completely unfounded.

11 QBs have multiple super bowl rings. Three are active, and one is not in the hall of fame.

1 super bowl victory would cement him with his level of play.

Romo needs to win a Super Bowl AND leave no doubt of his greatness in that game.

If we ride Murray in the Super Bowl, then Romo isn't considered. He'd have to light it up IN the Super Bowl to shut up the naysayers. Something like 300+ yards, 3 TDs and 0 Ints.

If he has an average to good game in the Super Bowl, his HoF chances are slim. They'd say he couldn't win it on his own.

If the Cowboys win a Super Bowl with him as QB, yes. If not, then no. He'll get in, just won't be 1st ballot.

LOVE the avatar! It was a great catch but they did LOSE! You wouldn't even know the Cowboys won if you followed the media at all yesterday. Forget about the fact that Romo threw a clutch TD, on the road, with 1 minute left, for yet another 4th quarter comeback/game-winning drive. ODB and the vagiants can have their little catch, we'll take the win!

I don't think he will get in at all unless he win a couple rings

Ya, I was just making the point that it IS possible to get in without a ring. That the ring is NOT the be all end all. Not that Romo's stats are anywhere near as glorific (is that a word? I just made it one, so there) as Marino's.... but I just feel a ring should not be the ONLY measuring stick of a HOF carerr. My opinion.

I agree with you. And I don't think longevity should be the only measure either. But Romo will be judge on a different set of criteria than other quarterbacks (not to suggest he has the resume Marino has). I think he'll fall victim to his media-created image - more so than any other quarterback. He HAS TO get the ring to qualify for the Hall. And a part of that is because he's likely going to be competing for Hall of Fame consideration against other quarterbacks of his generation - Brees, Brady, E. Manning, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers. Sometimes, players have to compete with other players at the same position, especially within their generation. I'm not saying Ben or Eli deserve to be inducted into the HOF. But those and the other QBs I mentioned are the guys Romo will be competing with. And all of them have rings.

Sorry, but Romo needs the ring to get in, or he's not going to get in.
