Has Texas always had no income tax?

I believe so. We have an 8 percent sales tax. Fastest growing and second biggest economy in the US.

And people wonder why Sumerall, Bradshaw, Deion, etc. all live here. Outside of cheap cost of living the no state income tax is awesome.

You have no idea how many rich people claim Florida as home.

Especially, retired sports guys.

There's a difference between highest paid and highest income after taxes.

Well, we probably dont have to worry about him moving to Calif anytime soon and live beside Phil Mickleson for golf lessons.

It seems that teams in Florida and Texas ought to have a significant advantage in free agency for precisely this reason. Especially against NFL teams from New York, for instance.

Of course, money aside, some people might well prefer living in New York, for instance, than Florida or Texas...

"But we have libraries, schools, and roads and stuff in California, while Texans don't, because of taxes."

Not kidding. That's really what Californian schools teach their kids. We are all living here in the wilderness, deserts, and jungles of Texas.

Phil was pretty vocal about moving back to Arizona because of Cali's taxes.

Even Bill Maher is starting to complain.

Did this take into consideration the "jock tax"?

http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/12/sports/sp-jock-tax12

"If opening day is the best day of the year for professional athletes, then April 15 -- tax day -- is probably the worst. Especially now that 20 of the 24 states with franchises in at least one of the four major pro leagues -- the NFL, NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball -- have laws that require visiting athletes to pay state income tax for each game they play there."

I think that blew over, that article is from 2009.

This is from last year so not sure it has. If still applicable, man... what a headache.

It's definitely a nightmare. Athletes like Derek Jeter that live in Fla, play in NY and travel to TOR, MD, CA, etc., have to fill out a lot of separate tax forms. Cities and states are addicted to tax revenue and have closed most out of state loopholes. I don't know if the teams withhold the money or if athletes have to hire their own people. I realize it's one of those "first world" problems, but it's still a big headache.

I am not a Romo hater, but is this really a good thing? With a salary cap, I don't see where paying out big contracts to any player over 30 is something to be proud of.
The Romo lovers don't care. to hell with the Cowboys winning. all they know is they love them so Romo. he comes first, not the team. it's really sad.when he fails again this year(which he will)they will just blame something or someone else and move right along with their undying Romo love.
