People expressing opinions on a message board....the horror

Most of this stuff is common sense stuff but Doctors and lawyers have different opinions all the time.

The idea that we aren't qualified to have an opinion is ridiculous.

We all know these things never work out for DAL. It will turn into a long-term issue, no doubt. It is unavoidable. Here we are almost 4 months later and Romo still hasn't had the surgery.

Sure, he will be fine in 6 weeks. Just in time for the mini-camps.

Of course your opinion is warranted. But if you give it over and over in a negative light then you are on the edge of violating the guidelines. There are appropriate forums for that sort of thing.

This is a Cowboys' forum meant for fans to enjoy themselves. If anyone's action are taking away from that experience then expect it to shed a negative light on those posters.

Who is talking about rules? I am talking about having an opinion that Romo is making a mistake with his shoulder surgery. But if I am not a Doctor some people feel I can't have an opinion on the matter. Or since I'm not a lawyer I can't intelligently speak on the Brady or Hardy case.

Nothing wrong at all about your opinion about the shoulder/surgery. But if you go thread to thread talking about the inevitability of another injury and then interject how the front office sucks (IOWs) then you're going to eventually get noticed. Talk about the surgery all you want though. /mod hat off

On a personal note I agree with you. I would not have this surgery were I Romo. The possible benefits don't outweigh the risks of anesthesia or surgery IMO.

My take on this , is that this reduces the impact on the collarbone, so it is less likely to break or fracture.

In simple terms it is a shock absorber for the collarbone.

If you add to that, the bone healed, is now stronger than before, then it does reduce the chance of this type injury in the future.

Is it possible to double down on this and insert a plate during this procedure? Knock out two birds with one stone........

Putting in hardware has its own complications including increasing the possibility of a break in the future.

If you ride motocross you are much more likely to get broken bones. Not because your bones are weak but because of the physics of hitting the ground hard.

The training staff hasn't had a stellar record over the last 5 years ago.

Well the good news is it's his collarbone and not his hamstring. For some reason our trainers can't figure out hamstrings and plantar fasciisitis. Just ask Terence Newman and Miles Austin.

I personally was hoping for the plate and screws surgery, so I'm a little disappointed but Romo and his doctors have more info than I do.

You can say this about every player in the league

That article had to do w/ AC shoulder joint seperation... Not collarbone breaks. 2 different animals there....

Besides....do you really think the Cowboys would allow a procedure that is gonna take 2 years to heal?

the only thing I can say is they saw sufficient healing of bone and didn't warrant fortification and instead dealt with problem of thickening of bone that wasn't allowing proper flex when compressed. I am grabbing at straws here.

You obviously have an opinion on the matter, and that's fine. Just don't mistake it for an informed opinion, because it's clearly not.

Not all opinions are equal, just because we all like to think our own takes are right. The message board guidelines insure that everybody can be heard. It doesn't guarantee that everybody has to be taken seriously. Especially on something like the efficacy of a very specific surgical procedure. That's just silly.

Uggh!!! Speedy recovery Tony. I bicycle to work(no, I don't wear spandex), and in August last year got in an accident with someone who cut me off. I got a "boxers fracture" in my left hand with the bone going to the pinky finger. Had to get surgery otherwise I was told I would lose use of two fingers on my left hand.

Bone surgery isn't fun. Wish you well Tony.

After my surgery I jumped back on a bicycle as soon as was able, bu you do get more protective and cautious. I ride slower now, and wear gloves always no matter the weather. I look at all cars as they are out to kill me. Idiot drivers in Round Rock, Pflugerville, and Austin prove me right every day. That is how Tony now views the NFL. A bunch of idiot drivers in Austin. Wait, maybe this only makes sense to me.

Edit: Always wear a helmet too. Protect your head, even if you have a nickle head. It doesn't feel right if I don't have a helmet on now. I was lucky in that I only broke a hand rather than busting my skull open on the pavement. And for you hipsters, put some brakes on your stupid fixies.

Yeah because doctors never make mistakes at all or give bad advice...

Um, they have been weighing their options for 3 months now. Tons of doctors, tons of opinions and research. Whats best for Tony and the team, millions of dollars, Jerry Jones, huge investment......I am not one who is worried about the procedure. If you want to worry about anything, worry about Romos age and injury history.

Honestly...what scares me the most is this...(I've dealt w/ AC shoulder seperation (2nd degree) personally my SR year in high school...As a RB...It wasn't fun)

Removing bone to create a bigger cavity so the collar bone and humerus bone don't impinge is gonna lead to the shoulder dislocating more easily.

I didn't have the surgery.....and still to this day...30 years later the shoulder joint is still loose. I can't imagine making the cavity more bigger is gonna lead to structure stability in Romo's instance.

Here's a good analogy....Like a differential in a car. Once you start to get play in that connection...It just starts to get more and more play in it until it fails.:(
