It could be possible that Tony Romo can become a Top Five quarterback in a few seasons, but it's not time to put him in the same category of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

Regardless of the quality of the technical aspects of the writing it's pretty hard to argue the points made.

It's always a stretch when anyone tries to make a "top whatever" list. It can't be denied that Tony Romo and the Cowboys have proven nothing yet.

Results tell the story and until Romo achieves some meaningful results he will be open to this kind of scrutiny.

This season is the year we learn what we REALLY have.

Come on Tony! You can do it!

I've got faith.

The problem is the QBs he is willing to give credit to haven't done more than Romo. In fact, Rogers has done less. Why the double standard? The writer loses credilbility for that fact alone.

I don't even call them articles.

They are more like stream of consciousness babbling from fans who are really just frustrated amateur wannabe sportswriters. Very few are informative, even fewer resemble anything close to professional.
You're right.

I hurt my case by referring to this drivel as "articles".

Because he either dislikes the Cowboys or is a Packer fan. It's really that simple.

Did anyone else feel like they were reading an elementary school students homework assignment as you read this?

dear people reading website,

i am writing this essay to tell you y tony romo is not best qb in nfl. this is my thesis statment= romo is not the best because 3 things. he lose to owens. he dates jessica simon. he chokes sometimes in the playoffs.

1st. romo lose to owens. to owens, if you look at the stat data, is the 2nd best wr ever. subtract to's tds from romo's stats and romo only has like 19 tds in his career in 3 years as a nfl qb. that isn't great. matt ryan did that in one year with only michael burner the turner. with to now in buffalo, romo won't get to throw him many more tds anymore now.
second. to dates jessica simon. its a distraction for the team when he does that. he should stop doing that or only do it a little bit. like avoid sundays and times when cowboys do their training.
3rdly. romo lost his first playoff game by dropping the ball on the extra point. he then lost his 2nd playoff game to the giants by throwing bad pass to to owens. he then lost his 3rd playoff game to the ravens and eagles!!!

in conclusion, this is why romo isn't a top 2 qb in the league. he might be top 10, but not top 4. now i will restate my thesis. which was = tony romo is not the best qb in the nfl because 3 things. to owens. jessica simon. lost 4 playoff games. the end

Who cares about a "double standard"? Especially when it comes to the drivel that any sportswriter, or fan in this case, comes up with.

The only thing that matters to me as a fan is that Tony Romo helps the Cowboys win a Super Bowl.

I couldn't care less how someone else chooses to compare him to other QB's or who puts him where on whatever list they're coming up with.

Having accomplished something most definitely gives a person more cred then someone with the potential to accomplish something (playoff victory, etc). At this point Tony Romo has certainly shown the potential to accomplish something but has not actually accomplished something. You kind of have to give the nod to the guys that have accomplished something.

I can also see some validity in the argument that Tony is under a bit more scrutiny because of his undrafted status. Some of the guys he is compared against have been in the spotlight and have had success at other levels and came with a pedigree that Tony didn't. Whether fair or not the guy who came out of nowhere is going to be looked at harder and may even have to "prove" himself a bit more then the guy everyone watched since his freshman year at Bigtime U.

The writer of that blog is no rocket scientist and some of the stuff he wrote doesn't hold up under the bright lights but the main gist is not to far off.

Of course that gist is simply opinion since it can never be ultimately proven who the top 5 are because everyone applies their own qualifications to determine their list.

Neither have some of the guys he gives credit to. That was my point.

Thanks. I understood your point.

I don't think you're getting mine though.
