1 A 44-6 loss to the Eagles in Week 17 of 2008

The Cowboys needed to beat their division rival Eagles in Week 17 in order to get into the playoffs. Romo had been playing fairly well, but Dallas lost two of its last three and was in danger of missing the postseason. Needless to say, the game didn’t go as planned.Romo completed just 21 of 39 passes for 183 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions as the Cowboys were blown out of the water by the Eagles, 44-6. It was the second-worst performance of Romo’s season with a putrid passer rating of 55.8.After making the playoffs in back-to-back years, this was a huge letdown for a Cowboys team that should have made the playoffs.

2 2012 Week 17 loss to Commanders with the NFC East title up for grabs

Romo has always been criticized for being bad in big situations, and this game is one of the biggest reasons for that. Three times Romo lost a Week 17 game that would have gotten Dallas into the playoffs with a win. The worst of them all came in 2012, when he threw three interceptions against the Commanders, ending the Cowboys’ season with heartbreak and disappointment. His terrible interception with the Cowboys trailing 21-18 and just over three minutes to play was the one that did him in, essentially clinching the win for Washington. The Commanders would turn the pick into a touchdown and knock off the Cowboys 28-18

3 Losing to the Giants in the 2007 Divisional Round

The Cowboys were the favorites to win it all in 2007. They went 13-3, had the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, setting up a potentially deep run in the postseason. Unfortunately, they ran into the Giants in the Divisional Round, ending their season a few weeks earlier than they had hoped. That came after Romo and Jason Witten spent their bye week vacationing in Cabo, which made the loss even more difficult to swallow as the Cowboys faced similar questions to the ones the Giants got this past season for their boat trip in Miami.

4 The straw that broke Romo’s back

The Romo era in Dallas came to an abrupt and surprising end in the preseason last year. He suffered a back injury against the Seahawks in a meaningless preseason game, thus keeping him out for most of the year. The injury gave way to Dak Prescott as the starter, and the rookie never looked back. Romo threw just four more passes and one touchdown in his career with the Cowboys, playing one series against the Eagles in Week 17.Had it not been for the unfortunate injury, Romo likely would have been the starter for all of 2016, and potentially many years to come. Sadly, that’s just the way the NFL works, where one injury can end an era and give way to a new one.

5 Botched hold vs. Seahawks in 2007

There's no doubt about this one being Romo’s worst moment in Dallas. In his first season as the Cowboys’ starter, Romo was still the holder on field goals. Needing a chip-shot 19-yard attempt from Martin Gramatica to go ahead by two points with just over a minute remaining, all Romo had to do was get the snap down. Gramatica likely would have drilled it and sent the Cowboys to the next round, but we all know what happened instead. The snap slipped through Romo’s hands as he raced to the end zone, only to come up a couple yards short. He faced an overwhelming amount of scrutiny afterward, forcing him to overcome the biggest mistake of his career for years to come.

Some painful moments.

Romo thrived on the drama. Made him a great fit for what Jerry was trying to market.

I will forever wonder how that game would have turned out had JWit's catch been spotted for a first down instead of mis-spotted short of the first down.

3--Dallas was NOT the favorite to win it all in 2007.
That would be then what was considered the historically great undeated New England team that was winning every game by 3-4 touchdowns. The Cabo thing for 3-4 days 13 days before a game was a non issue. Btw, the giants trip was the week of their game. Not really the same at all.
Tough loss though

5-The botched snap had nothing to do with Romo the QB. It was a special teams play. No starters ever are asked to be the main special teams holder. In fact, many or most 2nd QBs are not wven asked to do that now. Romo the QB played well on the road that day, actually.
It WAS a botched snap though...and a bad moment overall.

3- yes....2012 Skins game was bad. Pretty much the whole offense was hurt though...kind of him alone vs a Skins DC that already gave him trouble. Down the stretch...No Murray, no Dez, no Harris, horrific oline, 32nd ranked defense. Completely miraculous that he drug that team up to 8-8 anyway.
But yes... bad game.
Got revenge the next year in another win or go home vs Skins btw.

1- yes...terrible game for the whole team. Btw, in the same situation the next year, they returned the favor (twice) by killing Philly in the season finale and then again in the playoffs

4-absolutely. The broken back that ended his career, its looking like anyway.

You can always find big down moments if a player plays several years.
Its not fair, but already you could start one for Dak by saying that his team was favored at home after a bye week, but lost in the playoffs...and he threw a terrible Red Zone interception that ended up costing them the game.
See how that works? Its silly

I will forever wonder how that game would have turned out had JWit's catch been spotted for a first down instead of mis-spotted short of the first down.
No need to wonder. If they leave the original call as is, Cowboys run the clock down and win 100%. BTW, it wasn't as if it were the last play of the game. There was over a min and we had our timeouts remaining. All we needed was a stop, which is something we didn't do all 2nd half. If needed, and we did kick the FG, I have no doubt that Seattle would have made it into Ft range or scored a td.

Let alone the rest of the playoffs. With the bears up next I liked the mental picture I painted in my head. Especially since they already beat the colts earlier.

IN REFERENCE TO THE SUBJECT MATTER . . .

An old friend of mine once uttered this rhyme that seemed somewhat funny, yet profound -- but was also good advice:

As you go through life, my friend, no matter what your role, keep your eyes upon the doughnut and not upon the hole! ;)

Can't forget his 5 or 6 INT distaster vs the bears and complete choke job in 2011 week 1 vs the Jets either.

That said, I also have some fine memories of Tony. But a lot of bad ones.

It was only a matter of time. The hit he took wasnt big at all. Watch it, irving is basically trying to force a fumble rather than landing on romo. Irvings momentum is actually taking him past romo. He gets him with his shoulder and arm on Romos back as romo is falling on his butt. A play that any uninjured player gets up from. His back was spaghetti ready to give way.
