Dedicated to you my friend...You can certainly try...it might be good for a laugh.

Huh, I just noticed it isn't there any more. Makes sense, although I'm sure there'd be people in there still arguing about something.
In Loving Memory Of
The Quarterback Zone
No One Does It Better
You Me At Six
I woke up this morning with a grudge the size of your story
Oh, I feel, I feel so low
Let me start at the end, the part I haven't figured out yet
Yes, I am, I'm moving slow
You are playing the lead
The headache that my actions feed
Oh I've only got myself to blame
Here's another test which I would fail, and at my best
Oh, always ending the same
If I were an honest guy
I'd give this world another try
What are we doing?
I was so in love with you
I've forgot what I wanted to say
What are we doing?
You will change your ways in time, in time
If I just saved you, you could save me too
If I just saved you, then you could save me too
I woke up the next morning and I didn't see it coming
Oh, your bags were packed and gone
I called all your friends and they said hadn't seen you yet
Oh, my head's going to explode
If I were an honest guy
I'd give this world another try
What are we doing?
I was so in love with you
I've forgot what I wanted to say
What are we doing?
You will change your ways in time, in time
If I just saved you, you could save me too
If I just saved you, you could save, you could save me too
I believe in the finer things, and you don't believe in me
I said, I believe in the finer things, and you don't believe in me
I said, I believe in the finer things, and you don't
If I just saved you, you could save me too
If I just saved you, then you could save, you could save me too
What are we doing?
I was so in love with you
I've forgot what I wanted to say
What are we doing?
I was so in love with you
I've forgot what I wanted to say
If I just saved you
No one does it better,
No one does it better,
No one does it,
No one does it better
If I just saved you
No one does it,
No one does it better,
No one does it,
No one does it)
I woke up this morning with a grudge the size of your story,
Which now I have told you all

I know you're retired from the military, but don't ask, don't tell, in this forum, are still wise words to live by...
Okay, well, I guess we agree to disagree, because, yes, quarterbacks certainly do have the freedom to throw the ball away and in many cases are encouraged to do so...that particular play being a prime example of a time that it would have been an excellent idea...and I'm sure, hindsight being 20/20 and all, Romo would agree.Dear lord, people don't understand football, or the play he got injured on last year.
The QB does not have freedom to just "throw the ball away" whenever he sees fit (Unless he is Eli, apparently). Tony did not try to make some big play. He stepped up and to the side of the pocket, took a few steps and (WHILE STILL BEHIND THE LINE) went to slide. He was not attempting to make some crazy play or keep things going for as long as possible or doing anything that other QBs wouldn't do.
Now that is about the coolest slo-mo clip I've ever

It'll be back when Moore lights up some third team secondary in preseason. Lol

Take it easy now, we don't need another QB Controversy on our hands...It'll be back when Moore lights up some third team secondary in preseason. Lol
That's the spirit, or at least drink the spirit.I'm glad I haven't had a drink all week or I'd be all over this thread.........What the hell, I'll be back after happy hour. Salud!

You are referring to intentional grounding, which is against the rules provided the following two conditions are true: the QB is in the tackle box and an eligible receiver is not within range of the ball. 1. Romo was well out of the tackle box and 2. Even if had been in the tackle box he could have thrown the ball at the feet of a receiver to ensure no one gets it. And yes, elite QBs do it all the time to avoid being sacked and taking a negative play. That's just factually wrong. Check the rules. To just throw it away freely...he had to ne out there where he was when he slid.
You want him to play like a bad QB, and somehow that would have made him elite.

Please go watch the play again. He took off trying to pick up yards and realized too late he didn't have the room he thought he did and began to slide two yards shy of the scrimmage. How was that the smart play in that situation? He put us in 3rd and long. All the time? Not so much.
It is something that can be done...sometimes. There's not always a player available that you can do that. Usually, if you can, it's a RB.
Tony had a ton of room in front of him and to the left. EVERY decent QB that knows how to move in the pocket will move around. Tony had a lot of space, he moved into it and ran a few steps. People closed in on him and he played it safe. He slid well ahead of the guys reaching him. Only Free's awful block let a guy circle all the way around from the other side.
It was a fluke play. To play QB like you suggest would be to play like Weeden.
