You are having a conversation with one who once said it would be "a dream" if we drafted Johnny Manziel and that Jerry should absolutely move up to get him if he fell to 10.
So there's that....
Believe me the last thing you want to do is go down a what you once said Road.
After all Romo still playing three to five years and leading us to a Superbowl right?
As soon as Romo's injuries healed he'll be the starting quarterback right?
I could go on for hours.

As long as you don't say I that ever said Romo would for sure lead us to a Super Bowl, I don't care what road you go down....especially if it's off a cliff.:muttley:

Romo's gone now, so it's Dak time. I'm thankful we have him.

I am not on the "elite" bus with Tony.

An unprecedented three seasons of development while not throwing a single NFL regulation pass. The Cowboys used their patience, invested a great deal of time and effort in to making Tony Romo an effective quarterback. that, more than anything else, is responsible for the limited success Tony Romo had in leading this team.

It took him far too long to become a leader. It took him far too long to respect the limited opportunities to win a championship.

He never learned to give his line a little help by getting the ball out quickly, or avoiding sacks with a better pocket awareness. He never learned to understand and accept his limitations. He never understood that Jerry Jones's financial commitment to him was a ploy to create a superstar necessary to decorate his new stadium.

Tony never understood that Parcells was trying to protect him from himself by imposing his commandments, which Tony Romo systematically violated. Tony simply didn't have the talent or athleticism to take the gambles he did, those impulsive throws that ended seasons. Tony was groomed to be the ultimate busdriver but he couldn't accept that and ended up driving the team ever so close, but never far enough.

Tony Romo is in the second tier of Cowboy QB's, the Don Merediths, the Danny Whites. That really isn't so bad, they were really good players that found a good measure of success. The elites are the guys wearing multiple rings. We now have a quarterback with that potential.

Excellent, well-thought out response, sir. I'm with you. Like I said, I view his want to win as an elite quality, but I stop just short of saying he is elite. Which is why I entitled this thread the way I did. He's grrrrreat! Not elite.

I think he's significantly better than you give him credit for. And I think you are wrong on so many levels with some of your comments...especially that he should have been a bus-driver...just..wow.
Old news now though.
moving on and certainly no longer wanting to debate this topic.
hey, we can agree he's no brady, etc.

I remember thinking as the play was unfolding that he bailed from the pocket early because he didn't trust the rookie running back to pick up the rusher. I saw him keep his eyes downfield then quickly deciding to slide. He had plenty of room in front and I thought at the time that he played it very conservatively by any standard and especially by Romo standard. I think that is the wrong play to use to make your point however valid your point may be.

I was sitting in a sports bar drinking with that t.v. sports commentator named Jim Bodine
When that play happened and I agree with your take on it @Vtwin .
It came across to me that the defensive player metted out an extra vindictive measure on the tackle,, and "JIM" agreed.

 I guess you missed that bus that's carrying the Dallas Cowboy franchises quarter back statistics and rankings?
Granted he eclipsed those former illustrious and elite leaders while never accomplishing what Staubach and Aikman achieved, yet, his numbers don't lie.
.
minus the whole "holy grail/ Lombardi Trophy"
I found him on many levels more exciting and entertaining to watch play Than Aikman but a distant second to Staubach.

Romo's window closed about the time (I think) everything became synchronized in his wheelhouse to establish his rightful place amongst the ring wearing elite, that away game in Seattle '14'
Being my barometer of judgement.

I like all your posts @plasticman even if deep Down I really don't agree:lmao:

Switch Romo and Brady in 2006.

Romo retires with 5 rings, Brady doesn't last 3 seasons.

Fact.

Seriously, though. You need a TL;DR

TL/DR: Romo is elite, but maybe not. It's not Jerry's fault he hobbled the snap. Tony got hurt because he never says quit.

Frankly, this is a lot of nonsense.

I hope you enjoy...but since you just had to hit me with the "tl/dr," protocol demands I fire back:
