I've read alot of the threads here and I don't get the panic. The Cowboys are 4-3 and have a chance to earn a tiebreaker over the Bucs who lead the NFC South. The Bucs only have one conference loss so they would be the 2 seed if the season ended today. The playoff picture and hell even the race for the NFC East and homefield advantage (not that it matters all that much in the NFC) is still wide open.

Teams in recent years that have won SB Championships have been far from dominating over the course of a season. While the Pats dominated the regular season last year (probably through Spygate), opponents gradually narrowed the gap (they nearly lost to the Ravens, Eagles, Giants in regular season)...then we all know what happened in the big game.

I understand the nostalgia for Jimmy Johnson, but bringing back an old hero doesn't ensure the same greatness. I'll admit yearning for Joe Gibbs a few years ago, and he did improve the team, but the success was limited.

Just look at the slate of big games this weekend in addition to yours with playoff implications and all of which I would call as tossups that could easily go either way. But any of the teams losing other then Pitt are going to help as long as you take care of business yourself. Its not like your team doesn't have the talent or the horses to beat the Bucs. Peace until Nov 16.

NYG (5-1) vs Pitt (5-1)....
Arizona (4-2) vs Carolina (5-2)...
Atlanta (4-2) vs Philly (3-3)...

We're not 7-0 so some have to complain. It helps them deal with it. Those of us who have seen this scenario before know its far from panic time. We just have to get everyone healthy, at which point we will vanquish all those who stand before us.

I won't panic even if we lose tomorrow. Just the optimistic nature I have.

If we lose tomorrow AND next Sunday in New York? Then our backs will truly be against the wall with Romo's return post-bye week, but I still won't throw in the towel.

The way I see it, if we we win 6 of our final 9 games, we have a decent shot at the postseason. We've started 4-3 and need to finish at least 6-3... call me crazy but I still see this as a playoff team. We've gone through our slump earlier than in past years. Time to get healthy, make some coaching adjustments, and hit our stride after the bye week.

If we win a game or two over the next two weeks, all the better. But I won't lose faith until we're mathematically eliminated.

Again, just my optimistic nature...

GO COWBOYS!

This game will be decided in the first quarter. If we come out flat and play uninspired football we will get rolled again.

However if we come out early and hit a big play, force a turnover (yeah, ****ing right), or score on special teams - we can possibly keep it close and win late.

I think the reason why so many here are nervous about this game is that we just lost to the freakin Rams and lost badly at that. We are playing very poorly and our starting QB, both our best CBs, our most explosive player (Felix), and our LG are out.

We can't overcome mistakes but we continue to make them at an alarming rate. It is one thing for Romo to be a gunslinger and take chances because he the talent to come back from them but Brad "Checkdown" Johnson doesn't.

I haven't lost hope yet because this is still a very talented team and we will be getting most of our injured players back soon, but it still sucks to be in this position considering all of our pre-season hopes.

Anyway, it is pretty cool for a Commanders fan to come in here and try to cheer us up. Thanks bro.

nice assesment,I've been thinking the same things for days now.

I love your assessment, but who has on this team (players) have shown that they can overcome adversity once things have started to go bad...

A KISS and Iron Maiden graphic in one thread. I'm having 80s flashbacks.

I still have faith, but Sloppy play, Injuries and a lack of Passion might be to much to overcome, if we don't beat Tampa on Sunday, I have a hard time seeing us making the playoffs.

Pretty nice looking graphics! I like the Iron Maiden pic, really cool. I think that Paul Stanley is really a Cowboys fan, even though he grew up in Giants country....

Let's take a look at the schedule...

TB
NYG
Was
SF
Sea
Pitt
NYG
Bal
Philly

Considering the shape we're in atm, I'd say the next two games are going to be rough. There's a 50-50 chance we lose both with BJ at the helm. But, there's an outside chance we man up and win both (my pick). Then the bye week, thank God. With Romo back, and some much needed rest, we have 5 pretty tough games and 2 soft games. All that said, I agree, no need to panic at this point.

We could still lose the next 2 games and go into the bye 4-5. We come out of the bye (with Romo) and win out 11 - 5. I'd say we still make the playoffs with that record. This is a very real scenario I'd say. Even if we lose a game and go 10-6, we still have a shot. Outside of that, probably not. And at that point, I'd be hitting the panic button with a hammer.

Isn't there a 50/50 chance to lose any game? I mean, it is two teams playing in a league of parity.
