I see get rid of Prescott and get some cheap QB so when the OL is finally rebuilt and the defense is finally fixed they have a QB that can't get the job done and people like you then will be saying why did the Cowboys get rid of Prescott. So the search for that QB that can do what Prescott does will go on and the Cowboys will go through their array of QB's like they did when they experimented with Carter, Hutchinson, Leaf and Testaverde until they found Romo but by then the line was getting old and not very good, the defense was getting old. So what happened was they got rid of the QB that could have helped covered some of the flaws on the team until help arrived, but they instead suffered through QB's that kept them at 4-12 or 5-11 team.

The problem is they paid the players that should not have been paid. Clearly Dak does. The solution is to fix the issue with the overpaid players via trade restructures ect. Not let a Byron Jones walk or a Dak Prescott walk.

Funny, not ha ha funny, that people that are PAID for their opinions and assessments of players, former players, coaches and GM's say the exact opposite of what you're saying. That Prescott is in the top 10 some even have said top 5 or 6 so who's opinion do most listen to and who's do most laugh at? Here's another little side note. Going into free agency Prescott was rated as the #1 free agent. This with Brady also as a free agent. Now I'm not saying Prescott is better than Brady but what Prescott still has left in his tank and what Brady still has left in his tank were probably deciding reasons.

I'll say it for you.. At this stage of their careers Dak is absolutely better than Brady. One guy is on the downside and the other still ascending. There is no reason to hesitate to call it as it is.

But it will in the next two years.

If we give Dak a 3 year contract, we wont even be able to sign the caliber of Poe or Griffin.

Lol! This team is going to pay Dak a lot of money. Might want to prepare yourself for this evident yet simple truth!

we gave dak 31 mill this year and we signed plenty....Lawrence, Zeke, Smith, Smith, Cooper, Collins all got big contracts....so it didn't hamper us. we handed out a bunch of mid level contracts to crawford, griffin, poe, mccoy....so it didn't stop us..... those first 6 are supposed to form corner stones of a great team....based on their contract.....the other ones supposed to solidify the team and then you have the rest, just like anybody else. you get a CD or Diggs and you put a team together.

yet, of those 6, we got only cooper to perform to level of his contract. the rest nothing....I understand injuries, but it still doesnt' change the facts that we are getting zero from those and nothing. zilch. nada from the other signings.

so even if we signed dak for the next three years, as the salary cap is expected to go up, there would be room. plenty of room...and yes yes yes, I know next year is expected to have a drop in salary cap....for all of the league....so its not just for the cowboys and the league has to figure out a way around it or else, there will be plenty of cheap veteran labor available.

and therein lies the problem. not in Dak's contract. its the other investments that haven't paid off at all. none of them are earning what they are paid, except maybe, just maybe cooper.

so wrong....signing Dak to long term contract would actually help us be able to defer money to the future.....and open up cap space...having him as a franchise tag is actually hurting our space in cap....

Next two years are going to be a problem. OVERTHECAP have us at $49m left (with a full CAP of $227m).

Next season we have $50 increase in CAP to Martin, Cooper, Smith, Lawrence and Collins.

If we give Dak a three year contract worth anything near $40m per we just wont be able to structure it to sign ANYONE over the minimum (nor Draft picks), even with a large increase in CAP in 2023.

If you read before you post you'd see that I said I was ok with a longer deal.

So what, it's not Dak's fault, but doesnt change anything.

It's nothing personal to Dak, just the Jones have a certain financial management structure which Dak didnt want to adhere to....they work on the principal of the long contract and to free up money through restructuring....Dak's 4 year demand just didnt fit.

I'm sorry but acting like this FO has a good plan is wrong..."Dak didn't fit" because they pay players in positions you dont pay...J smith, Zeke, D Law these are bad contracts either because of the player or the position...either way Jacking around with a franchise QB doesn't work out well....never has ....it's done by FO's that usually get fired, unfortunatly this FO will be here no matter what they do.

Who's "jacking around", they are trying to fit his money into the format that they use.

Like it or not the Jones' give long contracts which gives them the flexibility.

You have to pay up at sometime and they just cant accommodate Dak's four year (max) pre-season demand.

I wish fans would stop going on about what they did in the past as an excuse for the future and then say we just trade Zeke or cut Coop.

But again do you see wining teams letting go of a top QB? I wish Fans would stop saying, "you can't pay your QB...." the other wining teams pay thier QB and build a team...that is what an FO is suppose to do...32 Fo's number one goal is to find a QB some have others are looking. would you not agree letting go a top QB would get most FO's fired?

I couldn't of said it better, let him walk. This team isn't going to compete until a lot of these prima donnas are off the team. Also, I want to go back to the hit on Dalton, I didn't see him going off on the sideline prior to getting hit but I've read he was digging in the O-Lines *** probably for there LACK of play. That's what I would expect a veteran to do if people are messing up. Hell, I've watch Brady chew more *** and if that happen to him I guaranty you the whole team would be out there if someone took a cheap shot on him. I would love it if JJ cleaned house at the end of the year and got rid of all the cancerous players on this year.

but the cap is the cap and the contracts are meant to be manipulated to create cap room......unless you are the patriots with bilicheck every team goes through it and at some point have to dump and rebuild.

martin, cooper, smith lawrence, collins can be redone to create enough cap space...

but sounds like you are more concerned about cap space than winning, since there is no alternative to Dak.....people clamoured for Dalton, some predicting he would beat out Dalton in camp...yet, we just saw the results most of us knew already.

and as I said, the problem is all of those large contracts....none of them is paying off.

its not about contracts or cap space. its about signing the right players....we are not good at that...even if we had 180M in cap space left. jones would screw it up

smh? it wasn't about the financial structure...it was about a 4 year, vs. 5 year deal. the money per year was even more on the 5 year deal....but dak wanted a 4 year deal.

jones' wanted him longer.....basically targetting the year when the cap is expected to go up by 20%.....most players want to be FAs going into that year......given the extra cap space, gives them opportunity to make more....

unless they handed him a 10 year 500M contract ala mahomes....

Only good defense we played against has been the Ramsay’s Wash Moore struggles when his offense plays good Defense teams no matter the QB.
